Well since the movie is out on DVD and being shown in some contries on TV I thought it would be nice to have a thread to discuss the movie. I'm probable going to cheat and take my posts from FF grin.gif. I've been gone most of the weekend and well basically I'm being lazy. I'll be back with them grin.gif.

Ummm if this thread isn't allowed, I'm sorry and Moon or Cindy feel free to delete it smile.gif. Just thought it would be fun to get the threads going grin.gif.
Moondragon
Vallygirl -

No problem! thumbsup.gif Get the threads going! This forum is to celebrate Majandra's career in TV, Music and Film. We purposedly didn't open a lot of threads, wanting to allow Majandra's fans the pleasure.

I'm looking foward to renting the DVD (don't get time for theaters much).

As soon as I get some extra cash, I'm definitely going to order the DVD. I was reading up on the official site for the movie, and it turns out that Maj did all of her own stunts, AND can actually fit inside an oven :o She just never ceases to amaze grin.gif
Vallygirl
LOL I told you I was being lazy and reposting my other message from FF grin.gif.

Woohoo I just got through watching the movie and it is brilliant!!
Seriously this is an intelligent, clever and funny flick. Majandra does not have a huge part but I'm sorry I rather see Mo take small parts in movies like this and Traffic than a lead in a piece of garbage. Hopefully she's been as wise with Reeseville.

I don't even know where to begin. Quinny is just amazing, completely blows you away and you can't help thinking while watching the movie what a waste that he's gone. Actually during the commentary they talk about his death and how much they miss him.

It's basically an updated version of Rope in a way with more twists to it. If you haven't seen Rope then I know that doesn't mean much to you but that is probable one of Alfred Hitchcocks greatest movies with Jimmy Stewart and everyone should see it at least once. They even discuss the movie Rope in a few scenes.

Majandra was terrific and stole the few scenes she was in. Her and Jay Mewes were a riot together. When you listen to the commentary you have to laugh. They were too funny about everything and at one point the director and the two actors who were doing the commentary started to make fun of the movie like they were on Mystery Theater 2000. It's really is pretty funny.

Anyway, I don't want to say too much but it really is an amazing movie but don't get all worked up for seeing Majandra because she's only in around 15 to 20 minutes tops but the movie itself is just a great film.

Oh and Jonathan Banks is wonderful in this movie and when you watch the scenes that were cut watch his because it's really terrific.

Stephanie, sorry I don't have any screencaps of the movie. I don't know if they ever did the screening, I hope so but I haven't seen it anywhere.
nephelite
I really canīt wait to see this movie. It sounds really good.

Thanks for the review Val.
Vallygirl
I have to say I think you all will enjoy this movie overall. As great as Mo is in it it was Jonathan Banks and Glenn Quinn who blew me away.

Okay, I've had a really crappy week and all week I've just been envisioing chilling out this weekend and renting RSVP. I just checked blockerbuster.com and the site claims that my Blockbuster has it available for rent. Now when I actually go there, well, that may be another story. But I at least have a chance! woohoo! grin.gif I'm excited to see it after reading what everyone has to say about it! Thanks!

*crosses fingers that I can rent it*
Vallygirl
Good luck Kate, I hope they have it. In the worst case senerio I could lend you mine. You do realize how huge it is for me to offer shipping little Majandra off but for you I would do it grin.gif.

Seeing as it's highly unlikely that the movie will be released in the UK any time soon, I've splashed out and bought a multi-region DVD player from Amazon. As soon as I've received it and it's all in working order I'm definitely ordering the movie. The reviews have all been great and I'm really eager to watch it.

Iīm glad that my computer can play Region1 DVDīs too. Mala already ordered it for me and she said that it should be there end of September. You can imagine how excited I am. Canīt wait to see it.

Also thanks to Mala and her dad for ordering it for me hug.gif
Vallygirl
Congrats Diane on your new DVD player grin.gif. You'll have to come and tell how it works out. I know you will love the movie. Jonathan Banks has a great scene that I love where he is mixing drinks. You have to watch the delete scenes to see the whole scene. Such a great actor!

Val - I edited your post and added a banner.

Hope you all like!

Marica I love it!! That's great and you have Jay in it!!

Love the banner too, Marica. grin.gif

As the DVD player I've ordered is out of stock at the moment I'll have to wait until around October before it arrives. Once I know it works and there are no probs, I'll definitely be ordering RSVP. (I might even treat myself and get Biker Boyz too!)

I know this is slightly off topic and please feel free to tell me if I need to post is on a different thread, but does anyone know if The Secret Life Of Girls is available on DVD? I'd love to see that movie!

Diane wink.gif
Vallygirl
Hi Diane, nope TSLoG never went to DVD just VHS sad.gif. I would have loved it if they did and if it came with director's commentation.
candyspark
Thanks for answering my question Val. hug.gif I know quite a lot of older movies are being released on DVD so maybe one day it will be. *Fingers crossed*

Okay, so I just watched this movie. Wow! I'm so impressed! What a great movie!

Glenn Quinn was freakin' awesome in this movie. Very intense. He pretty much stole the show. All the actors did a great job, though, so it really made the film work.

The director did a great job visually so the movie was never boring to watch. What really made the film for me, though, was the music. They had a different song and style of music for almost every scene and it always set the mood perfectly.

Maj, I thought, did a wonderful job. It was so fun to see her be so animated in a part- but not at all "Maria"-esque. Loved all the little voices she did and the little looks. She was cracking me up! Her and Jay Mewes were hilarious together. Even though her part was small, it was still fun and worth seeing- she did great with what she had!

I watched the commentary too- so funny! It really made me appreciate the movie more hearing what they had to say about it. They had some great things to say about Maj too. wink.gif During the credits they were all like "Majandra you rock!" lol.gif Anyway...the commentary is well worth watching!!

So, yeah, basically the movie is great! thumbsup.gif

Oh- and another reason the movie is awesome- the hottie model Lucas Babin (?) is in it.....so damn hot!! drool.gif
earthling47
Marica - awesome banner, girl. cool.gif

* Beware, spoilers ahead - don't read this unless you want to be slightly spoiled!

I just finished watching it and I must say, that I wasn't too thrilled with it - it was okay. I don't know, it's just that all these people did at the party was smoke, drink and do drugs most of the time. And, most of the murder scenes weren't gory enough... LOL, when I watch a thriller/horror film, there's gotta be some gore! However, the motives and theories that Glenn's character was explaining about crime were quite interesting... The cinematography was good as well, but just everything else didn't really get me into the movie - it was slow moving film, to me.

On to the performances... I only cared for Rick Otto, Jason Mewes, Majandra Delfino and Glenn Quinn.

Rick Otto - he was amazing as the killer. He definitely rocked in this film.

Jason Mewes - he's hilarious. I was amused at everything he had to say and everything he did. I loved that duck hat that he wore. LOL. I loved his expression when Maj/Callie walked into the room... he did a double take with the funniest expression! I liked how he and Maj were just hanging around together and everything. I'm glad he didn't die.

Maj - she was great, even though she didn't have a large pat. I was very impressed with her acting and her animated character. She was all smiley and giggly and everything. The way she was killed was quite cool as well. She was great and it was a shame she didn't have a bigger part.

Glenn Quinn - he definitely stole the show. He was so cool, mellow and intense. It's a shame that Glenn isn't around anymore... he is truly talented and is missed. He was wonderful!

Thanks glad you like the banner

I finally saw R.S.V.P. and I loved it. It was a great movie.
I admit that it was a little bit boring at the beginning but when the party started it was just fab. Loved how Nicky killed everyone esp Mo. It was so cool and I still canīt believe that she fits in that oven. So cool.

Rick Ottoīs performance was awesome. He was just so crazy that you had to love him.

Glenn Quinn (RIP) was great too. I love his voice and I was glad that he survived (when you watch the credits you see that he is still alive)

Jay Mewes - He was the hero in the end. Loved it. He is so adorable. Loved his reactions esp when Callie (Mo) came in. God he so wanted her.

Majandra was great too. She only had 20 minutes but that was enough to show us that she is an amazing actress. She seemed really bubbly and full of life. Her and Jay had amazing chemistry. I just loved their scenes esp when he put his hand on her thigh. Would have loved to see a little make out scene.

My fav scene has to be the twister game. It was just so funny and I loved the music. You saw that they had alot of fun making that movie.
And I know this sounds weird but I loved Moīs socks. It was just so funny that she wore this amazing, hot outfit with those cute little socks lol.gif
BTW, she has killer legs.

Another funny scene was when Nicky put the poison into the wine and he wanted her to drink but she didnīt. His face was so cool to watch.

The scene were he killed her was awesome. Both played it just perfect.

Also loved Moīs chem with Rick Otto. When she came out of the elevator eyebrows.gif Too bad that they cut out the little kiss that she gave him.

Fav quote: No fear Miss Callie is here (Also cut out)
It was just so funny and so fit the character of Mo.

-------------------

Loved the BTS stuff. Mo was s cute in it and funny. I loved how they referred to her as Majandra "da oven" Delfino lol.gif
Vallygirl
Wow, I missed this thread sad.gif while I was gone.

Kate, I knew you would love the BTS stuff grin.gif. It really did sound like the cast and crew had a lot of fun making the movie.

Mala, honestly I think the movie is something either you love or hate. It's like the movie Rope that they refer to a few times. Personally I love that movie but the few times I've watched it with people I think only one other person liked it and everyone else hated it. Same with Blue Velvet. I love RSVP but I think outside of this board and Majandra fans I only know one other person who would probable like the movie so I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to a lot of people. So I can definitely understand why you weren't crazy about the movie but like you said Mo and Glenn were incrediable in it.

Marica, I'm glad you finally got to see it. Heh, I noticed her socks too. Also I love the part during the commentary when somebody was talking about Mo coming in for hair and makeup and they had a few outfits for her to choose from and she says something like. "She's a rich girl, I know how rich girls dress." LOL I guess she's using some of her personal experiences grin.gif.

I'm glad everyone got to see the movie applause.gif

Val- I think you are right about the movie. My friend just watched it and turned it off after just 30 min. She said that itīs beyond boring. I think itīs because she is not good in english and couldnīt understand everything but oh well.
arimi
I tried to go rent it, but I couldn't find it!!!! :bawl:
nephelite
Cin - I will try and make some caps if thatīs ok.
earthling47
Val - You're right, you either love or hate it. I didn't really hate it, but I was just disappointed with it... I guess I expected a bit more, but the performances were good. However, it's not one of the movies that I hate completely - it's better compared to some other movies.

I totally forgot about that Twister game - that was my favorite scene. The music suited the atmosphere and it was just a cool scene. Some of the positions they were stuck in were funny. God, I miss playing Twister. lol.gif I also noticed Maj's socks - they were cute. grin.gif

hehe, yup! I have an addiction to the commentary tracks. popcorn.gif

Cin- I hope you are able to find it eventually. sad.gif You've had such luck with the other movies too!
Vallygirl
Marica, I would think it is hard to watch a movie if it was in another language but didn't have subtitles(I'm guessing this is the case). So I could see how that could take away from a movie.

LOL Mala, Jean de Florette is one of my favorite movies but everyone I know who watched it hated it because of the ending. So I'm use to not everyone liking the movies I like. I have very different taste grin.gif.

Cindy, if you want I can loan you RSVP. Let me know.
nephelite
RSVP had subtitles and she also watched it with them but I guess that it was just to fast for her.

You know the thing I hated is that she didnīt give the movie a chance. I mean I at least watch the whole movie and then I say *Hated it* or *Liked it* I just canīt judge a movie without watching it.
Pebbles01
ah! glenn fans!! *grabs em into hugs* i love RSVP, 2 fave actors of mine coming together. Being a huge Glenn fan he was the reason i saw the film but when i discovered that Majandra was in it as well it was just even more awesome.

It really is a great film and Glenn did just totally rule the film, but also gave the other actor's chance to shine only he was just better lol. It really is a shame about Glenn, I've loved him for over 3 years and was totally a wreck when he died, didn't help my dad was diagnosed with cancer same week, but anyway, i'm sure wherever he is he's happy..

right back to RSVP.. smile.gif
Vallygirl
Gem, hug.gif I'm sorry to hear about your Dad and I hope he is doing alright.

I think it's safe to say the RSVP was some of Glenn's finest work and I'm glad we got to see him in it.

Val

Pebbles01 Sorry about your dad. It always makes me sad when I hear such things.

Gandalf
I saw the movie last Weekend and is very bad, only Majandra and Jason Mewes do well in the movie cool.gif
Vallygirl
Hi Gandalf, welcome to Majandra's board. Well Mo and Jay did have some fun chemistry together grin.gif.
Vallygirl
I'm just wanted to pass some info along. If you have Comcast Cable and have On Demand RSVP is playing on one of the Pay Per View Channels. I saw it yesterday when I was flipping through the On Demand feature. But you have to be in On Demand and look under ALL MOVIES. If you just search it doesn't come up for some reason. We just got this feature this weekend and I'm not to familiar with it.
CHM
The movie was alright. I would have rather seen Majandra in the lead female role than the brunette who couldn't shed a tear to save her life. That was some bad acting.
