i write fantasy stories... i come up with these really good plots and story lines, then i try to write them and never seem to get past 5 or 6 pages. i have the beginnings of 5 or 6 stories, but i never try to finish the ones that i begin, because it all sounds so cheesey after 1 page. i keep thinking oh, this next one that i try to write will be better than the last... i can finish that one, but i never do. i have a story about this girl whose father was taken away from their family and she doesnt know why, and is on a quest to find him and find out what happened, i have one about this brother and sister that find unicorns in the mountains that they live in and one of them gets stolen and they have to get it back, i have one about a fairy whose cousins are at war with the elves, and i have one about this girl who finds a portal into another world, and i have one that is about this dude who is trying to become a hero but everyone hates him because he gets in so much trouble and he tries to prove himself "worthy" of the "hero" title and gets himself killed and his ghost comes back to haunt people....... and i have a whole lot more, just beginnings in different notebooks, never to be finished again. i have no clue why i can never seem to finish one. there is only one book that i have ever finished and it was a picture book for my little brother that i illustrated about a guy who makes the rainbows. it was about 10 pages.... with about 20 words on a page with a lot of drawings. thats all ive ever completed. i love writing, just not finishing. i have 2 diff fan fics that ive never finished either.

I am writer, but I don't really write fan fic. I have wrote a total of one fan fic and it kinda sucks for Smallville. I wrote it like three years ago after the first episode of it aired. It might submit it, but still a bit embrassed because it probably sucks compared to others. Plus it needs to be edited since I was so tired when I wrote it, so I made a lot of typos from the looks of it

I've been writing since I was 12 yrs. old.. I've always wanted to pursue writing as a career, but lately I've had other goals. So it's taken the backseat to my life!!

I like to write for different reasons.
I love movies, especially good ones like LOTR, Mortal Kombat 1, & they all inspire me to make something just as cool!!!
I also see movies that are sooooo BAD its like"I couldve made a better movie & who am I??????!!!!!!!" They inspire me to make something WAY cool & out do them!
I also love comic books!
Those inspire me to DRAW!!!! When I see art work thats like"Woah!......." then your speachless........Water colors, airbrush or just regular ink in such away its so REALISTIC!!!!
Through that Im inspired to write!!!!

I sooooo understand you!!!
I do the exact same thing!!!!
I start to write something then its hard to pice together all the stuff in between like"she said she said" stuff, because Im so focused on the overall plot from beginning to end!
Other times all that is verry clear but the storys not!
Also when I write I get bored with it.
It just seems to take so LONG to get to your point, because you have to discribe everything in detail so the audience understands, curat situation, past events, settings, cheracteristics of each person,........man Im bored just thinking about explainingg all that!!
I know my story & here I want to go with it but you have to say all that so the audience will go with you & not be confused.
So I try writing something else & that gets old too, so I start something else,...................
I made a thread for a Story Writing Game & at first I wrote 3 pages for the new title, but now Im burnt out on finishing it because its going to be kind of long. Its a verry creative approch to the tittle & I know it will be cool, so Im trying to finish it.
I usully write an outline.
Then I dont know how to fill in the blanks in between the major events, so...writers block......write something else!!!
Also I get disscouraged(as if that wasnt enough)I'll have this WAY cool idea & Im just dieing to talk about it before Ive even made the outline!
Like, a week ago I had an idea for a Justice League comic(of my own, cuz I like to draw too!). Im a big Smallville fan, particularly of Lex Luthor, Michael Rosenbaum (plays Lex) he also does the voice for Flash in JLA. I just saw the movie & it sparked my brain to write about it!!
I like the whole unmasked thing so I wanted to write that in my own way! I was going to make Flash(unmasked)look exactly like Michael!!!! He likes to flirt with Hawkgirl so I wanted to make this dramatic thing where he & Hawkgirl fall in love & they privately(if you know what I mean...) unmask one another revealing their true identites!!!! Its suppoed to be loving & tender.
I totaly dug how Wonder Woman kissed Batman in the movie so I was going to write on that too!!
The overall story(mine)would be that something happens & Justice League are banned & can be no more so they become average citzens( the unmasked thing)but crimes are still being committed, so JLA has to prevent this from happening to innocent people but cant because they would give away their identitys to the public exposing their selfs!!!!
I thought it was a WAY cool idea then my dad told me that X-Men has already done that!!!!!!!
Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! And here I was trying to be original thinking it was my own idea that nobody else has done!!! He told me its been done LOTS of times with different things!!! Well if its been done so many times why didnt I know about it???
Now Im back to square 1 because I dont know what to write!!!!
Writing is fun providing you can think of something original & cool at the same time!!!

Hey,
I am a writer. I'm writing sci-fi Stories, lyrics, articles and at the moment historical adventure stories. I have published already and you can check out my lates work on my Homepage, the adress is below. I already published lyrics of mine in the National Library of german lyrics and I also have some articles of mine published in many magazines.
I am writing at the moment on my tenth book, which is named: Wounded Souls and it its about a Pirate in the 17th Century, longing for vengeance for the betrayal of his father.
I am writing ever since school days, but I seriously startet in '97.
>dazed'n'forgetful: Here's a hint: if you think of something, write it down immediately. No matter if it is just a sentence, a quote or a storyidea. Write it down. That way you can forget about the idea in a heartbeat and when you need it again, you just go ahead and check your papers.
I got myself a small book, in which I write everything down, if something pops up in my head. It's very useful and actually necessary, if you want to be a serious writer.

I have the exact same problem. Except that instead of sounding cheesy, the problem is that I go off on too many tangents. I'll suddenly find I've written 5 pages just going from tangent to tangent.

As long as it's fan fiction, I wouldn't worry about whether it's been done.
I don't follow X-men, but I think the premise in that is that there is an anti-mutant movement afoot, and they need to keep al low profile. So your idea is a little different.
About my writing:
After I finished my last fan fic, I thought that I was just going to do one more than then try to do something original. But then another fan fic idea grabbed me. I'd like to do something publishable, but in the meantime, any writing is better than no writing. It's good for me.
My latest story is:
Fun with Shakespeare: Romeo and Juliet.
About the fic site:
We are only getting about one submission a day, so any would be welcome. We do ask that you check all the spelling and grammar first, and we only accept completed stories. (That's so we don't turn into another fanfiction.net where 99% of the stories are never completed.)
There's a thread about it

I dabbled in it a couple of years ago. Currently I have 22 manuscripts on my shelf... gathering dust! It just so happens once you consider professional editing ($2000.00 Can) and professionally reviewed ($2000.00 Can and a fairly expensive bottle of wine) all before you even try to court a publisher. Once you find one, watch out! They are more double crossing than Boba Fett! Remember, They are out to make a quick buck and care not for the content, as long as it is not too controversial.
A couple of my buddies are accomplished authors. One of them has to morgage his house evertime a manuscript goes to the printers. The other got a once over by his publisher pretty bad. He had to crash at my place for eight months because he lost everything, and I mean everything!
Anyway, thats my story

I really had to laugh about that line. I'm writing, too, but my head's way too creative and so I always start stories without finishing the old ones, but, of course, I always plan to finish them (all of them) sometime, just to find out after a few years, that it doesn't make sense anymore...
Do you have your story posted anywhere?

I haven't had a chance to write much of anything in forever... but I used to write a lot... I'm too busy changing diapers now! lol They say you need an agent for everything now (writing a book, acting, singing, etc)... If someone is really interested in writing I'd seek out a good agent after doing my research on them...

I write all of the time, literally. Lyrics, short stories, poems, whatever. I'm too shy to actually post anything anywhere though. Most of the people who have read anything that I've written have liked it though. I had a math teacher who used to read all of my stories. Yeah, long story there.

I love to write fanfiction and original fiction... but I always get very upset with the people on the boards in which I post them. I post a chapter or two and then it takes me a while to get the next up because I'm very busy...and everyone is saying, "Post more right now! Do it now!" and on and on... and I just wish that they would have more respect for me...all they want is more story and they complain when I take a while to add more of the story. They just don't understand that you can't whip out a chapter in 10 minutes... It takes me at least an hour for one or two typed pages. I have to have everything perfect.
I aspire to be a novelist after college. Well, actually, that's half true. I want to major in music education and have a minor in creative writing, so I can be a choir director. Author is kind of a fall-back plan... or maybe I'll do both. It just depends.

Hi!

I LOVE to write, I'm still basking in the sucess (well, personal sucess anyway) of completing my first novel. Its fantasy/fiction, 429 pgs. (my head is still spinning). Its a love story, a triangle of sorts, between a 10,000 yr old spirit who slays vampires, the haunting memory of her mortal soulmate and the present day reincarnate of that soulmate, who just so happens to be a vampire. Of course there has to be an adventure, traveling back in time through Indi's (10,000 yr old slayer) mind to the city of Atlantis to stave off the beginning of the vampire birth and save the city and its inhabitants from destruction. There are alot more twists and turns and sub-plots, too many to bore you with here.

It's FINALLY all tidy and completed and copyrighted, so I'm currently seeking a publishing company. I'm hardheaded, so I still don't have an agent, I want to try it alone first, just to see. Currently I'm working on the sequel, and I'm playing around with an idea for a second children's book, my first children's book is at the moment being illustrated so that it too can go on to find a home on bookshelves near and far
I've known since I was 14 that I was destined to write, I started out with poetry, luckily I learned early on that I'm not very good at writing it, so now it's just an indulgence. I progressed to short stories, which would run through my head so fast that the original ideas were usually lost to vivid detal (my speciality) and new plots, but they still ended up alright, enough so that they gave me the courage to continue on to bigger, hopefully better, things.
The writing of the second novel seems to be progressing as the first, small glimpses of another's life, a small voice whispering in my ear. . . so wish me luck, and if anyone would like to talk, Hi!

I had the same prob. with my book, but when I got blocked, I just put it aside and ignored it. I knew that when they were ready, my characters would start talking again. As to the wave of fresh ideas, I'm kinda the same way, I like to write about one thing at a time, but I will write the new idea down, flesh it out a little, tack some notes on to it and then set it aside for later creative brainstorming. You could always try that.

since I was about 12 I've loved writing short stories, mainly because the books I was into at the time inspired me! I've written 4 short stories since then, my family thinks they are really good but I'm not as confident about letting other people read them, your family is one thing, strangers are another.
Anyway, last year I started to write something a bit deeper and more meaningful, but my problem is that I get so many ideas that I don't want to put them all into one story so I've since started 3 others!! hahaha I'm stuck now though....oh well....
