If you are wanting to know how to become a moderator, you have come to the right place! Answers to some of the most frequently asked questions are listed below. Thanks go to Sabrina for re-writing these FAQ's for us!
How many posts do I need before I can apply to become a moderator?
For now, there is no amount of posts you need to apply. This is because Media Blvd is a new site. Of course, this will change in the future. But for now, you can apply whenever you want.
What are the requirements to become moderator?
In general, you have to be at least 18 years of age, however, exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis. We are looking for mature, responsible and professional moderators that are able to express themselves with patience, respect, and moderation. Enforcing the principal behind the rules, but not so rigid that exceptions can't be made when it makes sense to do so. They should be leaders and models for the members as to how to conduct themselves on the boards. We want moderators to have fun posting and taking part in discussions, being a highly visible part of the forum, not just someone that enforces the rules. Also, as a moderator, we would like you try to visit your board on daily basis.
How do I know which boards need a moderator?
If we have an open moderator position on a board, there is always an announcement on that specific board. Please realize we are looking for people that are regular posters of the board they apply for. So please don't apply for just 'a board' in general, and please don't apply for every board that needs a new moderator. If you are interested in more than one board, make sure you send in an application for each board you would like to apply for.
Anything else I should know?
Of course, you and only you should fill in the application. Please don't ask for help or for someone else to fill in the application for you.
How do I apply?
If you want to apply for a board, you have to fill in our moderator application form. You can request one by sending an email to mod_app@mediablvd.com, the auto-responder will immediately send you an application. Please read the instructions of the application and fill it out accordingly.
If you have any questions, please post them here. Please don't use this thread as a "chat" thread, or as a place to announce that you want to mod a board.
Good luck!
Angela

I think you already addressed this, but just to make sure, if you wanted to moderate a board but it was taken, will you still be considered for a different board, or is there something else you need to do? Sorry if I'm asking something that's already been answered.

Ok, so you applied for a board, but you didn't get it. And now there's another board you're interested in? Did you apply for that specific board or not? If not, you have fill in a new application for each board. So you can't apply for a board in general, or send in 1 application for more boards. (You can use the same answers, but please send in another application.)
Hope that helps.

If not, feel free to post again.

Thanks a lot Sabrina. That's exactly what I wanted to know. BTW, do you have any idea when we might find out if we made it or not? If you don't, that's fine.

Well, I can tell you the exact date mods will be picked, but I know it won't take too long. So you will not have to wait for like weeks.

Do the ppl who apply get notified no matter what? Meaning If I applied and didn't get it would you let me know?
London2LA
Sep 18 2003, 05:15 AM
I don't think they notify you if you don't get it - but I'm not positive since this is a new board - I'll try and find out for you!
So I got your answer - right now we won't be notifying people who don't get the mod positions. In the future we hope to get a form letter written to send out to those who don't get the job.
Good Luck

London2LA
Sep 23 2003, 05:01 AM
yes you'll be notified if you do get it and you can always check on the board you applied for to see if moderators have been added yet or not!
Eventually we will have a system in place to notify you if you did or didn't get the moderator position!

I clicked on the email address to get an application but it didn't work. My computer sucks, I am getting a new one. I also wrote down the address to send it through my email and that also didn't work. Angela since you are the director can you send me one. My email address is there for you to see. Please. Thanks.

When I was filling out the application, it asks you to list all the boards you want to apply for (the part says Board(s) applying for:). So even though it says to list all the boards you're applying for, you still have to send an application for each board you're applying for?

Yes please.

That way, it's easier for Angela to file them. And you might fill in other answers to some questions for specific boards.

I have also clicked on the mod app link and it hasn't worked for me

*hits outlook express* Is there any chance you send me a PM with it on...Thanks
Email is below
Sabrina
Oct 1 2003, 10:16 AM
Is the link not working for you? Because in that case you can just send an email instead of using the link to send an email.
If you don't receive an application after you requested one, let me know. In that case I'll PM it to you.
And please don't forget to login so that I know who to send it to.

And I've sent it as a normal email not a link as well.

It should work for your hotmail adress, but I'll PM you an application now.

That's because the email system is down at the moment. I'll contact Angela about it and let you know what she said asap.
Sabrina
Oct 2 2003, 08:17 PM
Ok, so the system is down, this is the reason you don't receive an application when you request one at the moment. If you want, I can PM you an application, but you do need to wait until the email system is back up before you can send in your application.
If you'd like me to PM you an application, feel free to contact me. But do remember, you have to wait until the system is back up anymore.
Thank you.

Thanks for the info, I'll just wait for the system to go back up.
Will I need to send another e-mail?

Have any of the positions for the mods been filled yet or are applications still being reviewed?

Applications are still being reviewed - Angela has been really busy over the last week and she's trying to catch up with everything! As far as I know nothing has been decided yet!

I wrote in my application that I didn't have access to the internet during the weekend at this present time. Now this has changed ( a lot sooner than I thought). Do I write a new application stating that or?

I'd just send in another email saying you now have time to be online during the weekends as well.

I don't think you have to send in a whole new application. Just make sure you mention which board you applied for.

How long do you have to wait to find out if you got picked and do you get a response if you're not picked?
London2LA
Nov 2 2003, 03:31 PM
At the moment we aren't advising you if you don't get picked but if you see that the board you were going for has new moderators it probably means you didn't get it! In the future we are going to have some kind of notification to everyone who applied to let them know yes or no! Which board did you apply for?

Nov 3 2003, 11:12 PM
it would say on the specific boards if it were looking for moderators right? so if I am not seeing anything on the boards I like it means that they are full at the moment correct? thank you for answer what is most likely a stupid and redundant question

I applied for the Katie Holmes board. They only have one mod because the other steped down. Still have only one so I guess I still have a chance.
