There is a snail mail address on Aaron's website if you want to go that route (it also shows the network, how popular Aaron is with the fans when they deliver all those letters to him wink.gif )

But if you want a hassle free way to send a message to Aaron (and you don't mind it being public) Just post it here.

Aaron would love to hear what's on your mind, what you think of his work, what you like/dislike about his website, or anything else.

Aaron mate,

Just watched "The Bridge" movie link posted here by Lisa (Thanks Lisa).

I have now seen two things you have been in.

I liked it a lot, and thought it was an impressive and well shot short.

The only thing I have to ask , having done "battle swims" down in the South West of Australia in winter, is "did you enjoy freezing your nuts off in that river!"

I would also guess you love your job.....Crew Chief on a space carrier, firefighter/hero...sci fi villian......all the stuff we loved and was acceptable as a kid. You get to do it in your thirties and get paid.

Work 50-60 days in 365, Beer and Ice Hockey......how could life possibly be better? lol.gif

Looking out for the screenings or DVDs of you other appearences here in Oz.

Cheers!

ps. let us know if the badges idea gets off the ground.

Hi Aaron,

Copied from my book suggestions thread....discussed with Spook and he thought this was a more appropriate place...in hindsight I must agree.

These are not sci fi, but damn good.

Try Bernard Cornwells "Sharpe" series...set during the 1800's and the 20-25 years of the Napoleonic period.....follows Richard Sharpe's rise and fortunes from a young private to a Lt Colonel at Waterloo and beyond.
Each book details the battles and intrigues of the era, and his link to Lord Arthur Wesley, Duke of Wellington.
Each work of fiction is written against a historical background.

Sharpes Tiger - the Seige of Seringapatam 1799
Sharpes Triumph - the Battle of Assaye 1803
Sharpes Fortress - the Seige of Gawilghur 1803
Sharpes Rifles - the French Invasion of Galicia 1809
Sharpes Eagle - the Talavera Campaign 1809
Sharpes Gold - the Destruction of Almeida 1810
Sharpes Battle - the Battle of Fuentes de Onoro 1811
Sharpes Company - the Seige of Badajoz 1812
Sharpes Sword - the Salamanca Campaign 1812
Sharpes Enemy - the Defence of Portugal 1812
Sharpes Honour - the Vitoria Campaign 1813
Sharpes Regiment - the Invasion of France 1813
Sharpes Siege - the Winter Campaign 1814
Sharpes Revenge - the Peace of 1814
Sharpes Waterloo - the Waterloo Campaign 1815
Sharpes Devil - the Emperor 1820-21

As you can see. I am into these books. Some of the Titles were made into Telemovies in the UK in the early nineties, starring Sean Bean. Well worth the read and the watch. If ever the new BSG casts "Cain" then suggest they watch one or more of the movies. He is a few years older now and looks perfect for the part....plus he would probably be in budget.

The author has also done another series, ironically entitled the "Starbuck Chronicles" set during the American Civil War. It follows a young Northerner who choses to fight alongside his Southern freinds against the Union. I read the first book, but havent been able to find more.

The titles are;

Rebel
Copperhead
Battle Flag
The Bloody Ground.

You probably wont get the chance to, but you never know. smile.gif

Cheers!

Hey Aaron,

I just wanted to say thanks for last weekend at Memoribilia. You were great! Glad you liked the gift and I hope it lasted more than the 10 hours on the plane. Candi and I are looking forward to seeing you at G1 along with the transparent one (Sam), the 6ft odd *makes random face* one (Tahmoh, Matthew and Kandyse. What can I say those Q & A sessions had quite an effect!

So thanks again, and look forward to seeing you soon.

Hello Aaron...

Just saying hi from the South of the U.S. Like what you guys are doing over on BSG and hope that you and Tahmoh get to have some better story lines in season 2A. Take care.

Okay, a quick (and hopefully non-creepy) hi from Sydney. We are still waiting to see if our local network will actually air Season 2 of BSG here so just relying on Potcasts so far..... and hopefully the distributors will hurry up and release the Region 4 DVD pronto once the episodes have all aired.

Fabulous to see the great stuff they had for you in the beginning of Season Two and I loved the job you did with the material (the running through the bush shooting the cylons with guns was pretty cool). The Blackbird episode is my favourite! Can't wait to see what Season 3 will bring (hopefully more Chief Tyrol !). Since the chances of you making it all the way to Australia for a con are remote (and who wants me taking my kids to a con anyway? No one, I'm sure!) I will have to confine myself to a quick across-a-couple-of-oceans wave wink.gif Come on down for the commonwealth games in Melbourne - we have great weather. Well, Sydney has better weather than Melbourne but they do have a nice river down there. No snow... honestly!

Regards (and have fun)

Aaron,

I will be writing an actual letter to demonstrate to the show my support for your talent on BSG, but wanted to add a quicker and shorter, and public, note here as well.

I'm a huge fan of sci fi and must say that BSG is one of the best shows I've ever seen. I love the realism of the characters. They're flawed, they make mistakes, and they ultimately well-rounded and human characters.

With the general support statement for the show out of the way, I have to say your particular character is fabulous. Which is a testament to your acting, of course. I predict the more people in the industry who see this show, the faster your career will rise. You have such an expressive face, particularly your eyes, which is rare on screen. With a subtle tightening of your jaw, or a particular way you look sideways at someone, you can 'say' everything without a single word.

I only saw BSG due to quite random and, I feel now, very serendipitous circumstances. I'm very pleased to have discovered the show, and more importantly, you as an actor. I will keep on eye on you as your parts increase in scope. Your talent deserves everything you will get.

On a more personal note, you also are an extremely attractive man with striking looks. I wonder, is the innate sensitivity of the Chief come across so easily because it's a part of yourself you can bring to the character? It seems that way, I don't believe anyone could 'act' and have that kind of gentleness come through so clearly.

I hope to make it to one of the cons and see you in person some day, especially the sense of humor mentioned on this forum. I'm in Seattle and have been dying to check out Gatecon in Vancouver one of these years (I'm a huge SG-1 and Atlantis fan as well). Maybe I'll catch up with you one of these days.

Good luck, and break a leg. wink.gif

I PM'd this to the Chief Tyrol alias, under the assumption that it belongs to Mr. Douglas.

In the event that Chief Tyrol is not Mr. Douglas, I wanted to re-post this here, in case he might see it...

Mr. Douglas,

As an Army Reservist I wanted to compliment you on your portrayal of Chief Tyrol. I know a lot of it is in the writing, but even well-written, Chief would not be a believable NCO were it not for your "filling his boots" as it were.

My wife and I have enjoyed the new series (I was a fan of the old, back in the day) quite a bit, both the series and the miniseries/pilot, and I've commented more than once that Chief Tyrol is my favorite character, beyond even Adama, who is portrayed excellently by Mr. Olmos.

Too often in military TV science fiction, the enlisted man gets overlooked. Star Trek is one of my favorite SF media products, but it's always annoyed me that Star Trek is way too officer-heavy. Anyone with any military experience, especially in the enlisted ranks, can tell you that nothing ever happens without there being a boatload of enlisted personnel and their NCO's around to do the heavy lifting.

The new Galactica has been a pleasant surprise in that it realistically addresses the contributions of the enlisted personnel to the Colonial cause, and Chief Tyrol especially is made an essential component of the series. Without the Chief and his "tool pushers" under him, the Galactica is nothing more than a piece of floating space junk. The bridge officers, the fighter jocks, everybody relies on Chief to make sure their equipment is up and running when they need it.

Again, my compliments for making Chief into a believable, sympathetic NCO. I hope that Galactica's powers-that-be continue to use and explore Tyrol. May you never become a "red shirt" and may the gritty heroism and often-invisible work of the enlisted man continue to play a part in the evolution of the series.

All my best, from the U.S. Northwest!

thankyou.gif

Aaron,

Great meeting you at the Tulsa Con this weekend. Looking forward to seeing my Command Coin in a future episode wink.gif

It's always great to meet a celebrity who is a 'normal' guy. Great talking to you and we are really looking forward to the next installment of BSG!

Talk to you.

Hi Aaron!

It is long over due that I express my support for your work on BSG. I enjoy the series and the whole cast is excellent. As is the case with BSG, characters really do not stand out on their own until the script writers write specific stories for an actor. While EJO, Katee, James, Jamie etc had great material in the first season we really didn't get to know the "so called" supporting characters.

I think the Chief above everyone else really became a major character in the second season and your work was exceptional. Michael, Nicki, Luci and others are also taking advantage of some good scripts and it shows the level on talent on the series is remarkable.

I also give you props for your fan support. I know Lex (from Caprica-City.de) had a blast and speaks highly of you as do many others.

Rock on!

Hi Aaron:

Don't know if you remember me or not from the Colonial Fleets board, but since they stopped "supporting" posts/forums for the new Battlestar Galactica, I missed seeing your posts that you used to do over there.

Anyways, I "searched" for and finally found this site that is dedicated to you. That's great!

I wanted to drop you a line to say hi and for you to keep up the great work you're doing on BSG. I really enjoy your performances. Chief Tyrol is definitely one of my favorite characters. While I initially felt sad for the outcome between the chief and Boomer, I think that Tyrol with Callie and child is a good development. I really liked the recent developments of the chief in the temple of five and the chief's confession to Callie about how he used to "bring porn and dance naked" in the temple. Had a good laugh over that. smile.gif

Best wishes as you continue in the role of Tyrol.

Regards,
Baafan / Willie

Hi Chief,

It was a highlight to read your message regarding your feelings on
CreationCons dealings with fans and actors. I had been wanting to attend
a Stargate or Battlestar convention, but cannot get over their exuberant prices for just attending. I had planned on attending the BSG panel at SDCC in 2006, but
got wrapped up in posing for pictures at the Sideshow booth. You are by far
my favorite character/actor in BSG.

On a side note there is a great Con here in the Phoenix area, "Phoenix Cactus Comicon. It has grown pretty rapidly, but still nothing the size of SDCC or DragonCon. I and many others here in the Valley would love to see you there.

wish you the best,
Craig

Dear Aaron,

Me and my fiancee - we are heavily addicted to BSG... I don't know why did I choose to search for information about you in the first place, but here I am :-) Let it be the involuntary message, that maybe subconsciously I find chief Tyrol the most credible character...

I would like to thank you for two things. First, for the way you played the scene of a suicide attempt (gun in one hand, the other holding freshly shaved head). I saw something very meaningful in that scene... And the second thing - for the way you treated these guys from "Creation". Although it's very risky, because "they own art" nowadays...

Thank You for the qualities that You bring to BSG... and although it's a no-chance to see You in Poland - should You happen to drop by, feel free to contact me for a tour over Warsaw and a riverside forest cabin grill evening 40 miles SW from Warsaw :-) No media, just 3-4 people, the wilderness and guitar singing until morning ;-)

Best regards,

Andrew (me) & Dominique (my fiancee)

Hey Aaron

Gotta say I was really looking forward to this weekend and you and James were a major reason for it. I'm sorry that fedcon screwed us all the way they did. I will be canceling my second night at the hotel because of this. I'd cancel the first one but it's too late to do that now.

I read your posts on their forums and you sound like a really great person and I am upset that they have done wrong to so many people. I wouldn't even go to the Friday night events if I didn't have to. I am on the local Rocky Horror cast and we are scheduled to perform that night. Of course, we are assuming that we are still scheduled to do our show...

I hope to actually get to meet you at some point at some OTHER con. I will not be attending fedcon usa in the future. I am just really glad that I did not have to actually PAY to go to this one. Of course this still remains to be seen, as we perform free of charge and were promised a handful of weekend passes but who knows if they actually have them for us. We don't know. They won't return our calls either.

Best thoughts to you. I love your show... even though someone had to nearly pull my teeth out to start watching it because I was a diehard Original BG fan and didn't think anything could live up to what I expected. The new show has done this and I am more than impressed.

Much love -
ali_qat
Hey Aaron! It was really great to meet you yesterday in Sacramento. You seemed to be enjoying the con: I hope this means you'll come back!

I'm sending you a hard copy of our photo for your scrapbook. Look for it in your studio mail - it's in a large, white envelope.

Much affection,

Alice
