My favorite summer songs are

Sunday Morning by No Doubt. I'm not sure why, but that song always makes me think of driving around with friends, going to all of the outdoor summer concerts, pool parties, etc.

I'm almost afraid to say this but Gary Barlow; his first CD...only because one of the best summer holidays I ever had happened when I bought this CD... I think it was probably my last real childhood summer. So everytime I hear his stuff I remided of that summer.

OMG! You don't wanna know!!
Or alturnatively... if you do want to know...
Do you remember the original British Boy Band called "
Take That"?!?! (including such musical visionaries as Robbie Williams no less!!)
They were like New Kids on The Block but without a cartoon series!!
Anyway soon people realised that listening to powertools is more rewarding - so they mercifully split. Apparently a couple of those miscrients felt they had what it took to go solo! A clear mistake!! Gary Barlow was one such cretin...
He is worse then death, and twice as ugly. Sadly his music does not so much fill me with summertime joy, but blind me with rage.

Nope, never heard of them. I'll see what I can find.
BTW, Sparkle was a kick a$$ raw album. Afterglow is a more polished version of Sparkle but still good none the less. There greatest hits album will be released in October i think.

The Doves are very cool. love what they did in 'the last broadcast'. exxcept m62 gets on my nerves after a while. Starsailor are another pretty similar band their lastest album is pretty good.

The summer before seventh grade, "Mmmbop" came out. Enough said.
Also, every morning in the summer when I drive to work (I work at an amusement park), I still play Jason Mraz's "The Remedy". Even in the middle of the winter, I feel like sunshine is on my shoulders when I hear that song. Love it. And "Pink" by Aerosmith. Very much summer when I hear that. *Sigh*

My #1 Summer Song of all time is Janis Joplin's "Summertime."
You know: "Summertime and the livin' is easy, fish are jumpin' and the cotton is high, you're daddy's rich and your mama's good-lookin', so hush little baby, don't you cry."
Other favorites:
I know it's been said by several others on the board, but I'll say it again: Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince "Summertime."
One of my very favorite bands, Self, has a b-side called "Summersound" - if you'd like to check it out, it's the third song on this page of their fansite: selfies.com. The mods there prefer if you hit "save as" (you'll use your right-click on a PC) and download the MP3 and then listen off your computer (rather than stream it off the site), and they and the band are so great to post all those b-sides for FREE that I want to be sure to respect their wishes.
There's a trio of female rappers called Northern State - who happen to be white and Jewish! - and I've been diggin' them - and they have a song called "Summer Never Ends" - you can hear a clip of it streamed at their site. Go to the bottom of the page and scroll forward to song #11.
For '80's nostalgia, I like "Suddenly Last Summer" by the Motels, and "Cruel Summer" by Bananarama...
And then I also like a couple classics: “Hot Fun in the Summertime” by Sly and the Family Stone, Alice Cooper's "School's Out" and “Summer In the City” by the Lovin’ Spoonful.
