Alright, alright, I'll take a shot, just to get shot down by Spook. uhoh.gif rolleyes.gif

So, in which role would you like to see Brendan in? A mysterios smart ass Demon in Charmed-Style? worship.gif A Cowboy, like in Texas Rangers? A Roman Slave or Warrior??? drool.gif

Let your imagination get on with it!!! noidea.gif

I think, since BF is very good in this brooding, nobody-loves-me and I'm-so-alone Types, he'd be a very good choice for the part of the oldest Son in a Remake of Flowers in the Attic. worship.gif

This is a great idea for a thread grin.gif We've had a similar one before... but don't think it was here on MB so this one will remain wink.gif tongue.gif

I'd like to see Brendan in a period drama. I know he's already done one in Edge of Madness, but there's scope for more smile.gif
Sue
I just love him in comedy....... but I'd watch him in almost anything. grin.gif I like that he's played a few different roles and isn't typecast. He would of course be the quintessential Mr Darcy wink.gif thud.gif
Clarity
Brendan's played a few roles where he's been a bad guy, from sort of bad to really bad (as in his character raping another)--he's very good at it. I'd like to see him play the victim side (like someone unjustly imprisoned, or Cliff or like Annie from Edge of Madness, or even in something like Oz), I'm don't think I'd quite count Michael or the character in Long Weekend as victims as I'm thinking about for Brendan, as Michael always managed to fight back somehow and LW is meant to be a comedy. I haven't seen Sugar yet (come on November 16th! Ahem.) but I don't think Butch is a victim either, even though he sort of turns himself into one (if that makes any sense). The Skateboarder in Nemesis Game is sort of on the way to what I'm thinking, but the character isn't a big enough part of the movie to really explore it.

I just think it could be an interesting mindset for Brendan to try, since it is so different from himself and the character. Another possibility is someone like Crichton (Farscape), who as a character went through pretty much everything! eek.gif from silly to tragic to badass to rape victim to sad to fishnets lol.gif

And on another completely different note, it would have been fun to see what the writers on Sex & the City would've done with him! eyebrows.gif

That's interesting, because I did see Butch as a victim. Although perhaps he is more of a self-made one in one respect, in another, he didn't have a lot of choice.

But I suppose that's more discussion for the Sugar thread...

Sue - I was thinking a Darcy type grin.gif

Although, in a different direction, it would be interesting to see him portray a complete nutcase. Someone with no inhibitions or sense of 'society'.

I understand and agree with what you're saying about Butch being a victim, even though he didn't have a lot of options and makes some wrong choices, which is what I meant about turning himself into a victim--I also think that he does make some choices and does do some things that are not the action of a victim, though overall he could be considered one (and maybe Butch's motivation is partly defense, if I do the victimizing first, I won't be one?).

I'd like to see him play a nutcase, too. smile.gif

Or someone with multiple personalties, from a mental disorder, or from alien minds possession wink.gif (if anyone's a Stargate fan, like Daniel in "Lifeboat" from the 7th season).

Then again, a character like William Wallace or Maximus has its merits. (ooh, men in skirts! grin.gif

This is good, fun for the imagination. Honestly what would I NOT like to see Brendan in would be an easier {and shorter} answer grin.gif

I love seeing him in some psychologically challenging stuff like some of Willaim Hurts early movies. Altered States or Body Heat type thing grin.gif Brendan does intense well but I'd like to see it expanded.

I'd also have to go with Clarity I'd love to see him in a character something like Crichton. A Chameleon-like part that crosses funny sarcastic,drama etc. {dang, must go get kid finish when I get back}

Clarity~ Good to see you around!

Someone with multiple personalities, maybe a persecution complex, like Mel Gibson in Conspiracy Theory, sounds interesting. eyebrows.gif
I also find it quite interesting, what the Writers of Sex and the City would of made out of him. noidea.gif (although I hate that show)
I would love to see him in a historical movie, since Hollywood is into this genre at the moment. drool.gif (men in skirts are always worth drooling grin.gif rolleyes.gif )
A handsome, bad-ass, sarcastic but smart pirate would be something too. drool.gif worship.gif (mucho drooling)

I thought about this for some while, but came to the conclusion that I don't really care what roles he gets - as long as they're well-written, interesting and preferably leading ones! I just want to keep enjoying his acting for many years to come!

Hey, Brendan as a pirate would be great--he could be Jack Sparrow's cousin or something grin.gif The Pirate Outfit would look mighty fine on him, Vin, it's along the lines of the dressage outfit (which sounds good too!)--or like the Dread Pirate Roberts (I was watching A Princess Brice last night), all in black. No bandanna/mask though, want to see his face grin.gif Regency clothes, too, for that period costume (again with the breeches/boots), like Ewan McGregor in Emma. Yummy!

lmao.gif Brendan in a dress, that would be a sight, I'd like to see it just for fun sometime!

Um, I must be feeling shallow today, picking out Brendan's roles by costume instead of by character! lmao.gif

Brendan's great at coming across both sympathetic and dangerous, so I'd like to see him playing ambivalent good-guys-with-a-dark-side kinda roles. He'd be great as good guys who don't fit into the rules and have an edge of the sinister or savage, etc. And the more stuff in which he's the #1 role the better. Hmmm.... I think he could do a (human-looking) half-demon real well.
brummsumsel
Okay, what about one of those roles, in which you don't know if he's one of the good guys or one of the bad guys. In which he just simply shows up, talks in a puzzling, mysterious way and disappears again, before you even know it. And you don't know, if he's a help to the hero or if he tries to confuse him. cool.gif
Wouldn't be the leading role in the movie, but the main supporting one. uhoh.gif
The myterious guy, always in shadows. Comes out to fight, just to be gone in the same heartbeat. drool.gif rolleyes.gif
sweetmiss
ok, ok let's see ! What role would I like to see Brendan in. Hmmm..... I would have to say...... I sort of liked it in Roswell when he rescued people from certian danger. There was something so Knight in shinning armor about it. So maybe it would be cool to see him in that sort of role. Maybe like an undercover FBI agent or cop or firefighter or something like that. But it would defonately have to be a women he is protecting. It just makes things a little more interesting, don't ya thing ? tongue.gif But seriously, he just has that "you don't want to mess with me" thing going on. That, I think, is what makes him so appealing to me. I hate that ! Those are the types of men I always am attracted to but the types that I know I should avoid! It figures ! lol
Vinity
I'm enjoying this topic grin.gif and not just for the oogy visuals grin.gif tho now I can't get Brendan dressed in Peacekeeper leathers out of my mind even tho I've always said I didn't think Brendan's style of acting would go on Farscape. lol.gif

I thought I'd get specific {and out of the gutter tongue.gif }. I've always wanted to see one of Anne Tyler's earlier books {haven't enjoyed the last decade sad.gif} translated to film properly, of course . Searching for Caleb I think it's my favorite of her work and I think Brendan would be interesting as Duncan Peck. It does span over time so there would be aging effects.

QUOTE
From THE BOSTON GLOBE

Duncan Peck has a fascination for randomness and is always taking his family on the move. His wife, Justine, is a fortune teller who can't remember the past. Her grandfather, Daniel, longs to find the brother who walked out of his life in 1912, with nothing more than a fiddle in his hand. All three are taking journeys that lead back to the family's deepest roots...to a place where rebellion and acceptance have the haunting power to merge into one....

I'd also like to see him in an ensemble. Some times I think that gives a great depth of character. Something along the lines of HBO's Carnivale A little bit strange and not so linear. BTW I also think Bill Sadler would go well in that show.

I think so often starring roles really box an actor in. TPTB want safe and it comes out washed out and boring unless it's an Indy.

I'd also love to see/hear him do Southern. He did very well with Scottish I think. grin.gifSomething like a Southern gothic/ghost story kind of thing. With long hair I think he looks very Southern.
Fruit_Fehry
well, i havent seen too many of brendan's movies blush.gif , so ive never quite seen him in a comedy role, xcept in IMAA. i loved him in IMAA, d dumbo...... He reminded me so much of Joey (Friends)....... n i think he'd play a very very [i](s)excellent Joey!! tongue.gif wink.gif grin.gif

i even want to see him play a handicapped character, for example a blind man....it'll bring out his acting skills and portray them better.
brummsumsel
Talking about books translated to films.

Scott McBains "The Coins of Judas" with Brendan in the role of either the Psychiatrist Paul Stauffer or as a catholic confessor (which is a Munk in that book and the Pope's private confessor) would be worth watching. worship.gif popcorn.gif
The Book is about the 30 silver coins of Judas. There are only three left and each one is more powerful than the last one. And if they find a unbelieving soul (which they do in the Person of Paul Stauffer) , a door will be opened and the Master himself can rise. The Pope, the Munk, the momentary leader of the catholic Inquisition and a canonized nun, are fighting for the soul of this Human and only if they can convince him to believe, the door can be closed again. skep.gif

It's a very good book and I believe, BF would be doing a great job in the role of the Psychiatrist. Also as the Munk. But I must say, they both die at the end. bawl.gif
sweetmiss
That Judus book sounds a little crazy and I don't think I would mess with that one. No offense, just my oppinion.

Sounds like this could be on the shortlist - as one of the prerequisites of Brendan accepting a role seems to be present lol.gif wink.gif
I once asked Brendan if he preferred indie roles or more commercial - he just said the indie roles were the ones that hired him wink.gif But then he went on to say the roles also seemed to have more to say, maybe were a bit more of a challenge.....

I think Brendan could perfectly portray the Ghost of Lasher from Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches trilogy. If anyone else has read the book Lasher or the entire trilogy let me know if you agree. The ghost takes on other forms, but i mean as the main form... Handsome, mysterious, brown hair, strong features... well.. thats one possibility.. except that book would be somewhat difficult to transfer to film, i think...
But at least it's not a film that has been done.. i've read how he dislikes re-makes... i don't really like re-makes either.. but i do think about different books i've read being put to film... ok.. well now i'm babbling..

It's a good Story, told in a good and interesting way. But appearently not everybodys taste. hug.gif

Oh, I think taking a part from a book is OK? That's more likely for Brendan to be interested in rather than a remake {as he has said he didn't like remakes} plus I think it lends to better discussion after we get past the idea of oogying Brendan in a pirate clothes grin.gif

I did read the Rice books a while back {guilty pleasure, nothing has compared to Interview the a Vampire which IMO is the only legit quality book she has done} I don't much remember?

I don't mess with books that mess with characters in the bible. I only read the bible when it comes to that. But hey, that is just my personal preferance and oppinion, I really meant no offense ok. grin.gif Still friends frown.gif lol.

Sweetmiss ~ The easy way is to just hit the "quote" button at the top righthand side of the post box you want to quote. A reply box will come up with the quote codes already done. Another way is to highlight what you want to quote copy it into your reply post box then highlight again and hit the "quote" button above. Or you can manually write the "quote" codes [quote*] whatever you want to post in quotes [/quote*] just take the star * out. Hope that helps grin.gif feel free to PM me if you need other help. Or you can also check the "help" board here grin.gif They can help with LOTS of tech problems grin.gif

I'd like to see brendan as the part of crowley in the movie Good Omens if it ever gets made- its a comedy about satans son who is sent to earth as a baby and gets put with the wrong family so he grows up normal, and Azeraphale (angel) and Crowley (demon) who sort of join togeather to prevent the appocolypse. the role originally had Johnny Depp attached to it with Robin Williams in the Azeraphale and Terry Gulliam directing but it has sort of come to a stand still. Anyways I think that Brendan would have been good in the role as Crowley
