Thats so great hurray.gif

The premise of this film sounds really familiar confused.gif I'm sure I've seen a really old (B&W) film along similar lines... But that was an excellent film, if memory serves me well smile.gif

Even if my memory is failing (which wouldn't be the first time lol.gif ) and this is nothing like that film, I still think it sounds like an extremely interesting project! I'm looking forward to it already grin.gif
Vinity
You know.....I should take a puter break more often lmao.gif stuff always happens when I'm away....BTW thanks PQ! It's like a watched pot I guess.

Anyways, thanks Lisa a Brendan for the info. This looks like fun.

OK back to hurricane watch/ready.

I swear I've heard of this film title before, just cannot place it and it's driving me bonkers trying to think of where I've heard it from and yes, from what I managed to piece together it is very interesting.

Vin~ You're welcome wink.gif
Thermuthis
hurray.gif thanks for the information Lisa. I'll be looking to hear more about it as it sounds interesting.

bouncy.gif Yay, Brendan got another job wink.gif This sounds really interesting, and Brendan seems really excited about it, so the character must be something he hasn't played before, he seems to like complex and difficult and dark, so I wonder how Vince fits in? I read the summary at the link Lisa found (thanks, Lisa!!), and it describes a few other characters--I don't think Brendan is playing "the wife" though that would be a challenge lmao.gif maybe the American spy? or another patient that isn't all that he seems? Hmm...

I looked up Amir Mann (who wrote it and is directing) and I found that his other credit is a documentary called "Shanghai Ghetto" about German Jews who took refuge in Japanese occupied Shanghai during WWII. Very interesting, and well received movie, so hopefully that success continues with "Fifth Patient" and I think it will be another smart choice and success mark for Brendan's resume grin.gif

Looking forward to more info (Go, PQ! wink.gif lol.gif

:cla[: Thanks Brendan for letting us in on your current project. Lisa - of course we appreciate your positing the information for Brendan and opening this thread! hug.gif

Since there isn't much on the internet (yet) about the film, I thought some of you would like to see where our Fehr One is spending a month.

First off - Xalapa is pronounced - hAlA´pA

Xalapa has been called the Athens of Veracruz.. It is a city where culture, like the evening fog, flows out of the schools, libraries and museums, takes over the gardens, fills the plazas and is the favorite subject of conversation in cafés and bars. It is also known as "The City of Flowers".

Xalapa has a historic center that rises and falls among hill slopes and gullies. It is covered by straw roofs and is generously decorated with gardens that stretch towards the new neighborhoods, like the one where the university is located. Not far from the city, one can visit the waterfalls at Xico, the traditional coffee town of Coatepec, the Cofre de Perote or the town of Jalcomulco, where you can practice adventurous sports. A little further on are the archeological sites of Quiahuitztlán and Filalobos.

In prehispanic times, the region was inhabited by different groups, among which the Olmecs stood out. When Cortez, who had already allied himself with the peoples from Cempoala, arrived there in 1519, the local inhabitants also formed an alliance with him against the domination of the Aztecs. As of that moment, Xalapa became an important point on the journey from Veracruz to the center of the country. In 1720, King Philip V ordered that the fairs that had up to that date taken place in the capital, be moved here. This was a great help to the city that became known as Xalapa de la Feria (Fair). During the wars of Independence and Intervention, the city was occupied by military reinforcements that arrived from France and Spain until 1867 when the Republic of Mexico was restored back to normal.

The city, also called Jalapa, is the seat of the Univ. of Veracruz.

Xalapa is located in the southern part of the Cerro Macuiltépetl (Macuiltépetl Hill) on the northern slopes of the Cofre del Perote, 100 km from Veracruz and 300 km from Mexico City. (This is where the Easter Sierra Madre Mountains start their descent to the Gulf of Mexico). Xalapa is 1,427 meters above sea level, it is often foggy though it has a temperate climate and it is surrounded by rich vegetation. It has a population of 500,000 people.

Woohoo hurray.gif hurray.gif this is awesome news. I don't know why but I when I read the blurb I thought of The English Patient. Not that it sounds like that move really just something reminded me of that movie for some reason.

Found another article on this (beyond what I already uncovered look.gif ) while I was supposed to be taking an exam lol.gif

Ah, don't you just love translations? lmao.gif

The production of The Fifth Patient is budgeted in 900 thousand dollars

ETA: I'm guessing from what I can understand (or manage to read) in the article an actor named Nicholas Chinlund got the role of John (the main character) in the film and so I did a little quick search on IMDB and got this: Nicholas 'Nick' Chinlund

lol.gif Online not timed home classes have advantages lol.gif hide.gif

I just realized, I was trying to place where I'd seen Nick what's it before and it was on Buffy lol.gif wink.gif

Had to go back and read the original in Spanish as the translation was so jumbled. When will they learn you can't translate Spanish to English literally? It makes no sense that way. At least the English translation does give you the gist of what was said though.
Clarity
Thanks, PQ smile.gif

Nick Chinlund played one of the creepiest characters ever on X Files--"Donnie Pfaster" in the ep "Irresistible." eek.gif He was scary because he wasn't 'out there'--he was a very real serial killer who could be your neighbor. That ep scared the heck out of me, just him delivering lines like "is your hair dry or normal?" (he had several fetishes, always washed the hair of his female victims) and calling Scully "girlie-girl..." eek.gif eek.gif

Anyway, he'll be good in this movie. Sort of fun how Brendan looks like David Duchovny (Mulder) and is now co starring with an XF actor. Still want to see Brendan and David play relatives!

Clarity
Vinity
OMG I didn;t realize that guy was "Donnie Pfaster" He was so great at making your skin crawl. I saw him on something else and really couldn;t get past the Pfaster character. Clarity ~You are so right about Brendan/Duchovny ITA.

Clarity OT~ I'm whitefonting, highlight~ Interesting midseason ending elsewhere! Not enough Ben, B. Bridges was great!

One of my dream movies has Brendan and David, Russell Crowe and Ben McKenzie, Michael Shanks and Ben Browder playing related pairs! innocent.gif devil.gif

Vin OT--white font: Glad you liked, the Anubis prototype was scary-great! loved 'hey, New guy!' 'well you touched that!' 'I can read that!' and the basketball bit and I swear they're having a faint & catch contest--nothing new till January <groan>

The photos are beautiful! I hope he is able to soak it all in while working. Can't wait to hear more about the project!
Pixie Queen
Quickie note from me before I go off and attempt to study for a psych test ..but won't get that far and probaby will procrastinate rolleyes.gif lol.gif

IMDB.com has a full cast list up for The Fifth Patient:

http://imdb.com/title/tt0481519/

Brendan's character name is Vince Gallow (wasn't specified before wink.gif )

I can see Marley Shelton as Helen (from what I've seen elsewhere-- Helen is the wife obviously lol.gif) That and I don't recognize anyone else on the cast list besides her, Nick Chinlund and Brendan lol.gif
m&mlust
Oh cool, Peter Bogdanovich is in it? (Famous director and sometime actor, probably best known these days for playing Dr. Elliott Kupferberg on The Sopranos.) He might be a good person for Brendan to get to know -- he has a ton of Hollywood contacts and could either cast Brendan in one of his own films or introduce him to a variety of acting/directing/screenwriting legends. smile.gif
HeavyMetalQueen
Thanks "J" although I really don't reconize anyone ,that girl "Helen" looks vaguely familar, but yeah that's about it.

I ,myself think it's great to have a lot of people I don't know of ect. I like that alot eh!!!! applause.gif applause.gif

Still the movie is "cateroized" as a thriler so I am happy to think there will be some action in it, maybe car chases?? I love those ones eh!!
thanks agian "J"!!

Thanks Cookie for the info. smile.gif
candymagda
thanks Cookie for bringint that over-that's good to know something more about this project.
I totally agree with m&mlust about Peter Bogdanovich-it might really be a chance for Brendan.
Beside Marley Shelton i also do recognize Henry Czerny and Olek Krupa-the're not well known actors but they appear in many good and popular movies.
Vallygirl
Well I found the sides for this movie and Brendan's part is one of the more expensive sides for the film. Usually the more it cost for the side the larger the role and Vincent side runs $8.00 which is a very good sign that we'll have lots of Brendan scenes to look forward to grin.gif. I'll probable order it this weekend to check it out.
EllaBella
What are sides? I hope we get to see alot of Brendan too.

I think we havn't got worry for Bren HMQ... latest news I heard here were "Stan" stroke Chiapas, southern then Xalapa. Anyway 5000 people had to go 'way from there places in Chiapas. There were victims in Salvador, Nicaragua, Guatemala (about 120 since now). Now its power seems damped... At least more poor people get in pain... what to say: just a prayer!

sorry it's an italian link: it sais about virus in Toronto, now : where could be more safe our sexy 2nd in command? Anyway there's the chance it would not be a virus but "legionella" bacter... so less dangerous... We hope so!
Mrs. George Eads
it's called Leigoneers Disease. It was commonly more found in the days of the World Wars (both 1 & 2) and now apparently it's making a come back. When I was born, the docs thought I had that, but I had RSV (a type of pnemonia).

Okay back OT. Is there anyway we get to see these sides by chance?
