and yes, I am going to see Liz Phair - finally, after years of listening to her music and missy higgins (sp?) is opening, and I also like her.

im not sure if there'll be a party, but i do know there will be LOTS of alcohol drunk, and possibly another tattoo at some point but not sure when as of yet (although not when im drunk obviously )

I've only ever seen a couple of episodes of Mutant X. Think i'll have to buy the box set to catch up

i love mutant x, since it has vicky pratt in it along with lauren, you cant go wrong. i adore vicky, shes just fantastic.

Agreed, Lozzie. Emma deLauro of Mutant X was an amazing character for her range. She could be sweet and loving, but also had this dark side that emerged every once in a while, giving little hints of what she was capable of. Toward the end of the second season, she had become so powerful with her abilities that it was almost frightening. Imagine controlling so much every day...

Of course, I'm a bit biased, since I've only seen a few episodes of The L Word so far. Have any of you seen Christy: Choices of the Heart?

No i've not seen either of those programmes. I've only ever seen Lauren in Mutant X and The L Word and thought she was really good as well as beautiful. The L Word is very well written.

that is up for discussion I think a few episodes are really great, but some are quite below the radar IMO. And everything in between.

I haven't seen Christie, so I cannot comment on that. But I have seen quite a few MX episodes, and I especially liked her character when she was showing her darker side in S2 and in the "fun" scenes with VP.

the character of emma was so diverse, which i think had to do with the fact that she was a very talented telempath, therefore was able to experience a wide range of emotions. i love the emma and shal moments, also the double vision ep was great for showing lauren as an actress. (plus she looked hot) although s2 was also good with emma's darker, more powerful side.

question time: can someone please tell me what the episode is where emma and shalimar are on a mission on a construction site, complete with hard hats, as i soooo cant remember (head like a sieve + blonde = bad combination)

Ok, what do you think were the best episodes?

narcolepsy_slides, her relationship with Shalimar was wonderful, wasn't it? The two team members who cared the most about one another, perhaps besides Shalimar and Jesse--who knew one another the longest.

Lozzie, that was "Lit Fuse," from Season one, when Shalimar and Emma are out looking for clues about who's been draining the city of power (turns out to be electrical elemental Ashley Elliot, and the cigar butt was from bounty hunter Neil Cross). That episode always makes me laugh...for numerous reasons, not the least of which is disappearing Brennan! Hee.

Some of my favorite Emma episodes are Double Vision (Oh, so much evil potential!), Reality Check (Emma splits into three), and No Man Left Behind (Emma goes broadband, and erases Jesse's memory--scary).

A couple of Emma/Shal moments: Lazarus Syndrome, as Shalimar's grieving over Emma's death. Has to be one of the most powerful moments of the first season. Also, I Scream the Body Electric, where the two are practicing relaxation techniques together. Lovely softness.

First Mutant, do you not watch The L Word?

I do now. I'm actually a very recent convert, having followed Lauren from Mutant X (thanks to Huntress), so I've only seen about five episodes so far.

I only started watching The L Word a few months ago. My ex watched it so I ended up getting in to it aswell Do you like the programme? (Not just because Lauren is in it )

So far, I do. The characters are interesting, and the plot certainly keeps your attention. It's like watching a focused soap opera with better acting and more realistic situations.

It's one of the best programmes i've seen for a long time. It's helped me aswell coming to terms with being me.

I think the actresses are really good. They act being gay really well considering they are straight.

What an inspirational testimonial. It's always a wonderful experience to uncover guides to making life more suitable, in whatever form they appear. It's truly fantastic that you have found something so enlightening in this series.

It's been very inspirational for me and I hope it's helped others too.

When did you first notice Lauren?

In Mutant X. I came to that show late as well (I like to make an entrance, heh) in the middle of the third season, after LLS had already left the show. As it became clear that I was becoming rather besotted with the show, a fellow fan was kind enough to lend me her S1 VCDs--and I was hooked on Emma thereafter.

I first saw Mutant X a couple of years ago and noticed her then but didn't really get in to the programme itself. Then when I started watching The L Word she caught my eye straight away and i've been hooked on her ever since. After the first series I didn't think she'd be in the second, imagine my surprise when she was

Double Vision was a funny episode. I also liked Blood Ties - simply because of the "you are wearing underwear" comment - and A Breed Apart.
There is also another episode where Shalimar gets hurt, and has to be treated by Emma ... and one where both of them have to get a shot by Adam and Shal at first makes fun of Emma and then makes a funny face when she gets her shot as well. But of course I don't know the episodes.

First Mutant thank you, i knew it was something along those lines, i guess i didnt take much note of that ep since it had way too much brennan for my liking.
i also have to totally agree with your choice of eps, and the em/shal moments, my 2 favs are definitely the lazarus syndrome scene and the I scream the body electric relaxation/focussing scene, both very endearing imo.
i absolutely adore the idea of em/shal as a couple, because of their on-screen chemistry and overall closeness and cuteness.

It's a fair question, narcolepsy_slides. I do try to tone down on my natural sarcastic nature when I first meet people, so yes, I was being sincere. I've heard of people finding inspiration from all kinds of sources: television characters, religion, chocolate...I say good for you and whatever floats your boat.


I'm obviously a fan of \"A Breed Apart\" as well. *g* Blood Ties was a great episode (for the underwear comment, definitely) also because of the background it yielded about Jesse's past.


The first is \"Deadly Desire,\" where Shalimar is shot by one of Lorna Templeton's boys. I agree, that's such a cute scene between Shalimar and Emma: \"Now be a good girl, and you'll get a lollypop when we're through.\" \"Yeah, well throw in a balloon and I'm all yours.\" The second is \"Blood Ties\" again, when Adam's giving them fake thumbprints to get into Naxxcon. You've gotta love Emma/Shal.

I'm glad of that as well. We may never find out the real reasons behind her leaving Mutant X; that was a shame. But it's good that she was able to move on to other quality projects.

I didn't want to assume that you were sarcastic or not, that is why I was asking. It is so hard to convey meaning sometimes.
I think it is great if you can get some inspiration or support from whatever and wherever, I wish I could, but I guess I am already too far gone.

I am not sure but I think I once read somewhere that LLS left MX because she wasn't able to do anything else besides MX while shooting it. She wanted to do Freddie .... (have no idea, but one of the movies jumping on the horror bandwagon), but was not able to even leave the set for a few weeks. I don't think it was such a bad decision to leave MX because I thought the third season was going downhill fast, and the Freddie whatever movie sucked big time (I saw it on a plane and fell asleep, and I don't fall asleep easily).

and smileys. there was a discussion in another thread about the correct usage of smileys - I think they are entitled to punctuation, but Prof Kap told me that they are more like hieroglyphs and thus don't need punctuation, and if you really like smileys, then there are some threads which almost completely consist of them .
