Do any of you have pet insurance?

I am really considering it since Elliott has had so much trouble and it adds up.

We don't have pet insurance but I have sure been thinking about it with how much Ozzy has been to the Vet this past year.

It's not uncommon for the horses, but can be pricey. They have just general coverage, loss of use, death etc. The problem with general in horses, which starts about $1500, you have to run anything the vet does by the insurance first, to garantee coverage usually, which is time consuming. Also once they've payed on anything that's likely to be big, like joint issues or tummy, they don't cover after, cosidered a pre-existing condition. Meaning if a horse has a minor colic, vet treats, then should the horse have major colic and need surgery they can turn it down. Or if you have a joint injected for maintenace, which is common for a SOUND preformance over the age of 10-12, then a true joint injury shows up they won't pay. So I'd be careful, for horses it's a very tricky deal.

I didn't realize they did it for small animals, I'm interested in any info.

Wow Vin! That is a lot.

I found this website: http://www.sheltercare.com/us/index.asp?cuid=

They give you free quotes so I'm going to check it out. I heard it is very reliable.
