•New! James Q&A Online!
Missing those convention Q&A’s ? Have you always had a question for James but never had the opportunity to ask? Well, now’s your chance! James has agreed to answer five of your questions each and every month!

Send your question to jmquestions@yahoo.com and submit as many as you like. When submitting your questions, please keep the following guidelines in mind: Questions about his family or personal relationships will be screened, as will questions that have been answered a number of times in the past. Please don't be discouraged if your question isn't chosen this month. We expect a large response and hope to get to as many as time and space allow in the coming months. Important: Please put "JM Questions" in the subject line or your email may get overlooked.

Our first answer session will be posted on March 15 so get your questions submitted soon! We also plan to archive the Q&A's so you will be able to go back to previous months and reread whenever you like!

Put on those thinking caps and fire away!

ohh exciting

have u emailed a q. yet?
Berengaria
Naturalmundo...5 of them to be exact. But don't ask me what...I don't remember. But if he picks mine it will say "from Berry". smile.gif
SophAussieBehr
kool

let me know if it gets picked grin.gif
Berengaria
I'm sure he'll be inundated with questions...especially this first time. I expect the ones picked will be really new, creative ones. Mine were kind of same old, same old. I think I asked him to tell about behind the scenes stuff about Smallville and Shadow Puppets. rolleyes.gif
SophAussieBehr
u may get lucky then smile.gif
Berengaria
I hope...I've seen some people come up with some pretty interesting ideas on other boards though. So I doubt mine will get picked. Bet there will be one about something Shakespearian though...he loves to talk about that. Would have made a good teacher. nod.gif
SophAussieBehr
grin.gif i think i'd have trouble listening

either that or be uber inspired
Berengaria
Oh,I think you'd be uber inspired...and he'd keep you awake with his wonderful voice. Might have a bit of a problem concentrating on what he was saying. I often have that thought after I've met him in an autograph line. I know I chattered away at him...and I know he said pleasant things back to me....but when I try to recall the conversation I end up thinking "What did he say??!!" rolleyes.gif
SophAussieBehr
lol.gif i know what u mean!
Berengaria
Number one reason why James Marsters will never date me:

He doesn't want to spend his evening waving his hand in front of my face asking "Kate? Kate? Are you all right? Are you there??!! while I just smile dreamily and think "James.........." drool.gif
SophAussieBehr
lol.gif i think i'd def. be too over interested

i'd be thinkign the whole time..take it off and take me now! lol.gif
Berengaria
You know,he gets that reaction so much,I'll bet that it would take something else to really get his attention. I'm thinking a good political argument would get his juices flowing. innocent.gif
SophAussieBehr
yeah something out of the ordinary!
Berengaria
But he's a very complicated guy...I'm not sure I can really read what he wants or needs...but I just hope he gets it...whatever....he deserves to have happiness. He certainly spreads a lot of joy out among his fans (mostly in ways he's not even aware of) . nod.gif
SophAussieBehr
ohh yeah

definitly deserves the best kind of happiness

i got roswell s3 finally 2day..yay..so happy
Berengaria
Oh,good for you! I love that scene in the first episode where Max ends up listening to music in his car. So sad.
SophAussieBehr
first ep of s3? after he leaves home?

yeahhh so sad
Berengaria
Yes,that's the one. Max leading Liz astray...never saw that one coming.
SophAussieBehr
i reckon

but it was so bad ass..it was good for at least 1 ep tongue.gif
Berengaria
I'd love to see Shiri on Jason's new series...if it gets picked up. I'm such a die-hard dreamer. grin.gif
SophAussieBehr
me too

like me new avi?
Berengaria
It's beautimous! I'm in the midst of planning a trip to Covina in October to re-walk the Roswell sites again. Looking for some I haven't seen before....like the dock where Max dove into the water, and the Observatory where he and Tess took that blanket. lol.gif
SophAussieBehr
you suck lol.gif

nah

take me with u!!!!! grin.gif
Berengaria
One of our group wants to go see the quarry....I don't think I even remember a quarry, but we're trying to break it to him that it's on private property and not available to the public! Oh and the bridge where Max and Michael talk and it snows. We know the park buit not the location.

Can we say "wild goose chase" ?? nod.gif
SophAussieBehr
woo hoo

go wild goose chase! lol.gif

wasnt the snow scene with isabel and max?
Berengaria
Yes,Isabel and Max...and then Michael comes :

ISABEL: Wow. You're having a son.

MAX: : Yeah, a son. A son!

Isabel hugs him and Michael drives up his motorcycle.

MICHAEL: A little public, isn't it?

ISABEL: It's a freak storm, you know, who cares?

MICHAEL: Not me, I got bigger things to talk about. Maxwell, there's two things I need to tell you. First is, I've been lying to you about Maria, Liz, and the whole investigation. Instead of stopping 'em, I've been helping 'em. Second thing is, it was worth it.

He hands Max the translation and Isabel the rod.

MAX: : What's this?

MICHAEL: It's everything we've been looking for. It's a translation to the book. You know - the book.

ISABEL: shocked You're kidding!

MICHAEL: Not even a little.

ISABEL: Well what does it say?

MAX: : It's the way home. We can go home.

Episode ends with Max, Isabel, and Michael standing in the snow.
SophAussieBehr
yep thats the 1 i meant smile.gif
Berengaria
Now he's got everyone searching out the dock where Max jumped into the water wearing his socks!

I can understand about being a true Roswellian...but that is so NOT what I want to see and do in LA! rolleyes.gif

Number one on my list is to go to the nightclub that "Glory" owns. cool.gif
SophAussieBehr
ahh very cool.gif

yeah the dock..maybe if u get time but otherwise..nahhh
Berengaria
It's apparently located at Castiac Lagoon,if anyone is wildly interested. tongue.gif
SophAussieBehr
lol.gif ok

is that popular or near covina?
Berengaria
I don't know. It's near Castiac Park and is certainly within driving distance of Covina. Frankly I don't see the big attraction. I'm pretty interested in meeting my favorite stars....but just going to look at where they once stood??!! I don't know. Seems like that's pushing it. rolleyes.gif

Now,I think it's different...I enjoy walking around Covina where you can see a lot of locations together...especially when you have someone with you who has lots of stories of seeing the filming. And of course Vasquez Rocks are just impressive to visit. But to go way out of my way to look at a quarry or a boat dock? Nah.
SophAussieBehr
yeah i agree

covina would at least have lots of memories..but one dock..mehhh
Berengaria
I'm wondering who the BAT will be able to get for the Bowling Charity Game this year? Last year they had Shiri Appleby,Brendan Fehr, and Nick Wechsler...plus lots of peeps from other shows.

I know they aren't going to get James Marsters...but I'd be happy if they could get James Leary (guy who played "Clem" the loose skinned demon) . I just love his sense of humor. nod.gif
SophAussieBehr
yeah he seems really funny

i hope some roswell peeps go again..
Berengaria
I think they usually get a few. smile.gif

My ideal would be if they could get Bill Sadler or Diane Farr. They were my favorite couple. cool.gif
SophAussieBehr
yeah they were cute
Berengaria
She's on a popular series called Numb3rs that's on here now. So I still see her. Now, if Bill Sadler would just hook up with a series,I'd be perfectly happy. Well, not as happy as I'll be when James announces his plans for next year...but...
SophAussieBehr
ahh yes i reckon i saw her on that nod.gif
Berengaria
Here's a bit of Bill Sadler news. The indie he did a while back, " Jimmy and Judy" pulled top honors at the San Francisco film festival.

I watched Supernatural tonight. It was good. cool.gif

SophAussieBehr
yay..which ep was it?

we r behind here but i read reviews etc
Berengaria
It was about a guy who comes after children while they sleep in their beds...he's a nightmare,I guess. But don't worry, the pretty boys settled his hash! nod.gif
SophAussieBehr
ahh ok

i cant wait to see how they end s1!
its only a few eps left in the us b4 the finale nod.gif

James Answers Our Questions:

Do you have any advice for people who suffer from stage fright/public speaking?

Stage fright is a very natural reaction - everyone has it. In the animal world, creatures only stare at each other when thinking of eating each other, so it's natural to run away. But, as a good acting teacher once told me, "acting is being private in public."

How would you describe yourself in three words and why those three?

I'm just getting to know myself. I'm no where near to being concise about it yet. I can't define myself. Wait a minute - I'm angry, I'm funny and I'm trying.

What did you think of Spike's growing evolution on Buffy and how do you feel the material challenged you as an actor?

They used me as needed on Buffy. If they needed a wacky neighbor, they used me. If they needed a villain, they used me. If they needed a lover, they used me that way. It was my job to reconcile it all into one character and that was the challenge.

You've played in clubs that buzz with high energy, but also are filled with loud people who talk and laugh all through your performance - and you've played in the quieter environments where the audience is seated, but who enjoy your performance with the hush of a true listening audience. As an audience member, I've experienced the pros and cons of both loud and quiet audiences - as an artist, which do you feel most connects your art with your audience and do you prefer one over the other?

I love being able to hear myself clearly in a quiet house so I can really tell if I'm sucking or not. But really my job is to give permission for the audience to exalt and lose control. I also felt that we got a little higher with the louder crowd.

Do you think that Shakespeare's plays have been modernized and performed so much that it would be hard to direct or perform in an original adaptation without the audience saying they've seen it before? How much pressure is on the actors and director to create an exciting and original piece of theatre?

I always argue for not straying from the text. I don't like Shakespeare productions on Mars! Romeo and Juliet should be set in Verona and at the time dictated by Shakespeare. Shakespeare had a 700 year history to draw from, he had good reason to choose the places and times he did. I feel no pressure to come up with something original but rather to just be true to Bill Shakespeare. I am a slave to Shakespeare's original intention!

Not really referring to historical or well-known figures, but rather just ordinary, average people, what in your opinion makes an individual particularly brave or courageous?

Overcoming their fears. All heroes quake with fear, they just choose to keep on going.

Next session: May 15

SophAussieBehr
thx for posting it hun grin.gif
Berengaria
"I'm angry,I'm funny, and I'm trying."

He's just so real with us. Gotta love 'em. nod.gif
SophAussieBehr
he sure is

thats what great about him smile.gif
Berengaria
Thought the question about playing his music to a loud, raucous crowd or a quiet attentive audience was interesting too. I've seen him at both.
SophAussieBehr
i would be quite happy 2 see hij do both

or just stand near me tongue.gif
