Okay, I mean seriously now. I dont mean someone who is your best friend by default, or by convinence. And I dont mean someone in the literal sense, as in, the best friend you have. I mean a friendship soulmate- someone that you just *know* that you will keep in contact with forever, someone who gets you like no one else does - you don't have to explain yourself to them, you buy little presents randomly for them because you know they will like them but at the same time, can give them thier birthday present three months late because you've been broke, you can tell them everything without them thinking your insane and even though you like a lot of the same things, you can disagree on some things and it doesn't matter. Someone you are complelty honest and frank with, yet you still dont fight and get along perfectly.

I was thinking about this before. My best friend and I have been friends for about three years, and real best friends for about two years and a bit. 28 months if you want to get technical. But the thing is, is I've had 'best friends' before, but in hindsight, they weren't really. And I'm really lucky now that I have one close to friendship that I can cling to (I'm actually spoilt, I have two friendships that are like that - one just lives in Canada ::rolls eyes::.)

But yeah, basically, I just think that true friendship is really hard to find. And I'm just sooooooooooooooo glad that I have a true bestfriend. Anyone, else?

I know what you are saying! My Best friend Joy has known me since High School and we have been friends for 10 years. I know that anything I tell her is safe. She calls me out of the blue at least once a month to tell me how lucky she is that I'm in her life and that she loves me and it is great because I feel the same way. She is getting married next year and we are planning her wedding together and I'm so happy for her that you'd think I was the one getting married. I have had best friends before but Joy is a true blue friend

1. At a party (with people I don't know) she wont leave my side even if her boyfriend wants her to.
2. She goes along with all my crazy ideas no matter how stupid they make her look.
3. Nothing is taboo with her, I can tell her ANYTHING even if it freaks her out a bit she understands.
4. If we don't talk to each other everyday it's okay and there is no need to panic we know we are still in each others hearts
5. Even when we have boyfriends we make time for each other
6. I call her "Potter" and she calls me "Lou" for reasons we only know

I am lucky enough to say that I do have a best friend. Cheryl has been my best friend since we were 11 and we are now both 24. We have been through everything together, our first loves, heartbreaks, applying to college, graduating from college, engagements, each other's weddings, deaths in our families, and the list goes on and on. She understand me better then I understand myself sometimes. I know that no matter what I can count on her to be there and she won't judge she will just support me, and I will do the exact same for her. She is one of those people that I can call and spend an hour on the phone with talking about pretty much anything under the sun even if I am going to spend the next day in person with her. I am so glad to have her as a friend.

My best friend and I are so connected, we have to be soulmates or kindred spirits or something. We met a little over four years ago, and we've been close ever since. We can tell each other anything and we know each other in ways other people don't. Our connection is so strong that we've been known to feel the other one's pain before we even know the other is sick or hurt. She's the best, and I can't imagine life without her.

My sister. We've always gotten on from being kids, we've never really fought, well physically anyway and of course we've had our disagreements but we've always been close enough so that we can tell each other everything. She was my chief bridesmaid when i got married and i was her matron of honour. She's my daughter's Godmother too. We talk or email at least two or three times a week and even went on vacation together this Summer.

Unfortunately, no. I had a best friend in high school and halfway through college, but for some reason we just stopped talking one day. We had planned to go shopping after I got off work one day and I called her to let her know I was off of work and what time she wanted me to pick her up. She didn't answer her phone, nor did she return my message. Then I saw her online later that night and she didn't bother to IM me or anything. I was being stubborn, so I refused to call her and needless to say she didn't call me either. As I type this, I feel really stupid for letting something like that ruin our friendship, but it wasn't the first time this had happened. I miss having her as a best friend and I think about her often. I haven't really had a close friend since. Most are just acquaintances that I might hang out with from time to time. No one I would divulge secrets or hopes to. Which is quite sad.

She understands me when I can't find the right words to express myself, she's as crazy as I am, and we're fooling around all the time. When she's taking off her jacket, I scream "strip!" and she knows that I don't mean it like that while everyone around us looks at us as if we we're crazy... well, we kinda are She's my guardian angel. We only see each other at school and on the weekends, but it's ok because we can be together even with a physical distance between us. We're soulmates, and sometimes I wonder if it was fated that I found her. I've learned so many things through her, I'm self-confident, I have someone I can talk to about everything, and someone who would hit my boyfriend if he cheated on me. I'm so grateful to have her around and I'm not going to let her leave me ever again. I'll give up my dreams and wishes to be with her for all my life. I love her more than anything else in this world and I'd give up everything for her.

Um, yeah I have one. Actually, I've known her the longest (Since 7 years old). Both of us are kinda different. She swears and I don't. But we get along great. Although she's trying to make me swear, just once.

Yep and I gush about him all the time. He is the person I most admire in my life. He has done so much for me the past 4 years I've known him. He is the one person I can count no matter what. We have so much in common it is freaky. We have this whole ESP thing going on sometimes. I'll be thinking something and he'll be thinking something almost exactly the same.

And I don't care what anybody says. I'll defend this point of view till the day I die. It doesn't matter how far a part we are or where we met...we have a connection. We met in a chat room, but we have met irl before. Plus we talk on the phone all the time. Speak online for at least 4 or 5 hours a day. I have gotten into a huge debate with somebody before when they said we weren't best friends because we truly didn't know each other bull crap. I know his annoying little habits...what he likes to eat...everything you could know about your best friend. We both don't give a damn about the distance. Some people just don't get our friendship. It isn't just net relationship...our friendship is a real life one as well. As good as any relationship can be.

Yeah I have a best friend. Her name is Jenny. She's a really great person and I love hanging out wiht her. We make so much **** together.

I dont have a best friend. I have gobs of close friends, but none i'd consider a best friend. I would love to have a best friend, just things never work out for me, so close friends is all it is. But, my close friends are my fave people in the world.

I don't have one. I've had some 'best friends' in the past. But that never really lasted for a long time. Which is weird, because when you look back on it, they were never your best friend.

I can totally relate to that. I have so many friends that in the past (especially in high school) I considered my best friends. But it's like now that I look back, I have to wonder why I thought that because we never were really that great of friends at least not in actions and stuff.

I don't really have any. I have some semi-close friends but not really close. It's weird. I do have a couple of Kindred Spirits--one I've known since we were little. We have really grown apart in the past 5 years or so but still tell each other a lot of stuff that we don't tell others. And most of the emotionally we understand each other better than anyone else understands us. We aren't that great at keeping in touch beyond the net but when we get together it's like not that much time has passed.
