I'm a book signing addict since childhood. When I was younger, they used to have a yearly book fair where all the Elementry Kids had to make books & they'd be on display in the city. The weekend the display was open they'd have about 10 authors there signing books & leading discussions. Also the LA Times has a book fair the last weekend of April so if you are in the UCLA area--go check it out (this is the same event stealingbeauty mentioned)!
I've been slowly inputting my books into a database & this is my list of signed books in there (I still have more to go!):
90 Day Wonder - Darkness Remembered by Leon Cooper: He was really nice. One of those independent authors was all by himself so I went over to talk to him and ended up with his book.
Assignment: Zaire by Dorothy Louise Kopper: she lives the town next to me. Wonderful lady.
A Time for Dancing & The Farther You Run by Davida Wills Hurwin: was the year after I worked on the Zeke Lerner Bowl-A-Thon. We had a nice discussion about Shiri. She was telling me how Shiri had told her how much she liked A Time for Dancing while she was filming so Davida sent her a copy of The Farther You Run before it was published and Shiri wrote a quote for the book cover.
Hometown Girl by Eric Monroe Woodard
Lucy Maud Montgomery and Bala: A Love Story in the North Woods by Jack Hutton & Linda Jackson-Hutton. These two are wonderful people. I've been on a LMM mailing list with them for years now. My dad knew I wanted their book so he called them and asked them if they would mail a signed copy.
Marilyn by Moonlight: A Remembrance in Rare Photos by Jack Allen: My aunt found out he was signing & speaking about the book in Anaheim so she got this for my birthday.
The Witch's Boy by Michael Gruber
two Baby Sitter's Club books by Ann M Martin: when I was in 6th grade, my parents & I were visiting my grandparents and we found out she was signing nearby. At the time I loved all her books and was soooo excited to meet her. It was a major letdown. She didn't even look up to say hello to any of the kids there. We were told we could not talk to her. If we wanted something signed to us, we were to write our names on a piece of paper, hand it to her publicist, who in turn would hand it to her.
Roswell High by Melinda Metz: I've met her multiple times and she is one of the nicest people. I've been to events where she was even signing books for people in the bathroom!
