I have a pet rabbit, and I was reading this book called The Way We Eat : Why Our Food Choices Matter by Peter Singer, and I was shocked to read the following...
"Mammals killed for food in the U.S.--unlike chickens, ducks, and turkeys--are required by law to be stunned before killed. No, that's not quite right: the U.S. Department of Agriculture ludicrously classifies rabbits as poultry, although they are mammals, thus allowing producers to avoid the legal requirement to stun them before slaughter."
Just thought I'd share that with you all.
