Will MATT DAMON get beamed up? Could happen. I'm told J.J. ABRAMS is very interested in casting the Oscar-winning Damon as a young Captain Kirk in the upcoming 'Star Trek' movie that he's directing and producing. He's so interested that he's apparently already sought support from the original Kirk, WILLIAM SHATNER. "Shatner gave his blessing," my source says. "J.J. got his approval." Damon first popped up in Trekkie circles as soon as the Abrams-'Star Trek' deal was announced. Rumor had it that the new movie would center on Kirk and Spock's early days at a space academy. "J.J. wants Damon as Capt. Kirk," my source reports. "He really loves the idea."



I can think of someone who would be great in the role of "Spock" . I am trying to get JJ abrams work address as we speak. Up for another postcard campaign?

They are doing a sequel to "House on Haunted Hill". Do you think they'll ask James to reprise his role as a terrified cameraman? What ride would you like to see him on next...the Tilt-a-Whirl?

oohhhhhhhhhhhhhh I'm up for a post card campaign! JM would be a great spock I think! Or maybe perhaps a volcon teacher at the academy?

The latest message from his official site is that they are adding Al Gough & his partner(they created Smallville and recruited JM for the show) to the line-up at the Queen Mary Con. That and the fact that the casting agent of Smallville is also a guest, leads me to believe that they may have something about JM to announce at this event. Al Gough and co. made Shanghai Knights with Jackie Chan. I'm wondering if James really meant it when he said he wants to "show us (fans) off to his guests...maybe if they see what kind of fan base he has....it will help him get the kind of project we all think he can do.

At the Queen Mary Con,we got to see the audition tape that James did with Patrick Stewart for a role in the last Star Trek movie. He didn't get the part. But in the latest SFX magazine, Martina Sirtis says he should have gotten it!





When asked for comments on Nemesis, she reveals that to this day it still surprises her and her fellow cast members that the movie tanked so badly. She also provided the following reasons as to way she thinks it may not have done as well as it should or perhaps could have. "I think the fans want to see the whole team in action, while that was very much Picard taking centre stage. Also..." She added tentatively, "I didn't think Tom [Hardy] was at all convincing as a young Patrick [Stewart]. Don't get me wrong - he's a great, great actor and a really lovely guy. But he didn't look a bit like Patrick At all. They should have cast James Marsters. They auditioned him, you know. I think physically he was much more suitable for the part."

one of the reasons Spike went off to Africa instead of like...Sunnydale....was that I went to Joss and said "The people who are doing the Star Trek movie came to me and said they are writing a part for me. They want me to be Jean_Luc Picard's clone!. and that was just too cool to be believed. So I went to Joss and I said "First of all, this is all your fault. They saw me on your cool show, looking cool, and now they want me to do the cool thing on their show." so he said"Jean_Luc Picard's clone! That's too cool! Oh, my God, I can't get in the way of that! So he rewrote the whole season so I could get out and then they gave the part to somebody else! The casting director told me not to use an English accent in the audition...so, okay, whatever.
