Full Version: Battlestar Galactica DVD Giveaway
MediaBlvd Forums > > MediaVault: Magazine & Radio > Shaunomac Radio
NetRanger
If you listened to the Subject2Discussion internet radio show on October 24th, you heard that S2D and MediaBlvd Magazine are going to be running a contest to give away a complete set of BSG DVDs. The GrandPrize package has a value of approximately $175 dollars and consists of:

BSG Miniseries
BSG Season 1 Set
BSG Season 2.0 Set
BSG Season 2.5 Set
The Story So Far DVD

All DVD sets are region 1 encoded, and are in new un-opened packages.

To enter the contest to win these you must write an essay about why you like Battlestar Galactica. You can hit on things like what the show means to you personally; it's relevance to real world news events, or anything that strikes you. The essay can be serious, humorous, and creative or whatever moves you. We had an inquiry about whether the entry could be an artistic rendering/drawing and that is fine also. The word count doesn't apply if that is the case.

The best essay of the entries will be chosen by Shaun, the host of S2D along with input from Koenigrules, co-moderator of the MediaBlvd BSG forum and regular guest on S2D in the Sci-Fi/BSG/Doctor Who segment, and by NetRanger, editor of MediaBlvd Magazine, and regular guest on S2D for the pop culture segment. The ID of the entrants will be removed before the entries are passed to the judges, so any one can enter. Edward James Olmos, if you are reading this and meet the other criteria, you can enter too!!

The contest is open to listeners of the Subject2Discussion Radio show, who are also registered in the MediaBlvd Forums. The good news is that you can listen to the show in the podcast archives at http://s2dradio.com and can register at any time for these forums.

Here are the entry details

1) Your essay should be between 100 and 2500 words long.
2) You should mail your entry to bsg@s2dradio.com before 7PM Pacific, Wed November 22nd.
3) You can attach a document (word, wordperfect, RTF, txt, or PDF) or place your entry in the body of the email.
4) Make sure to run it through a spell checker. Koenig is a college professor and says that spelling counts!
5) In the email that you send with your entry, you must include the "Code Word" that was talked about during the program on October 24th. This is to prove that you listened to at least that part of the show. (Remember the archives are on line, and the contest is talked about in the October 24th show.)
6) You must post that you have entered in the MediaBlvd S2D forum, on the contest thread . Do not post your essay there, just post that you have entered so that we can verify that we get your email, and so that we can verify that you have registered for the forums.

The winning essay will be announced life on the S2Dradio program during the November 28th S2D show, and the DVDs will be mailed out the following day. (If you already have them, they will make great Christmas presents, and you'll have them in plenty of time for that!)

Excerpts from any entries may be read live on the S2D program, and sections from the winner will definitely be read. The winning essay will also be published in MediaBlvd Magazine.

If you have any questions about the contest or need clarification about any item in the rules, please ask about it here. Anyone who meets the qualifications (listener of the show, and registered on the forums) other than the 3 judges may enter their essay.

So did anybody enter? What a pity I don't watch BSG!
shaunomac
I think the mass popularity of BSG has worn off.

Notice the magazine was cancelled and the comic books are probably next to go.

I said if we do not get any entrys to perhaps give the package to a soldier that may be on the board here on MediaBlvd.

Lisa
Pity that it appeared that nobody entered sad.gif

All of the BSG fans I know, already have all the DVD's or have recorded the show off the TV.

Maybe if the disks were autographed by some of the cast/crew more would make the effort to try to win them?

The contest is going to be re-opened tonight, and will have a new deadline of sometime next week. Listen to tonights show, or check back here for details.
Wes I
I would like to post that I have e-mailed my essay.
The Cylon God
Pathetic humans!... I will CRUSH you with my deadly essay-writing skills!
The Cylon God
Tremble in fear, mortals!

I, too, have sent my essay.
Wes I
At least it's two more people than submitted last time
The Cylon God
Ah, Wes I... we meet again, my old nemesis!

But your essay-writing prowess shall not save you this time... for I have submitted my most powerful and devastating essay to date! Bow down before me and perhaps I may spare your miserable life!

Mwa-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....
Wes I
Never underestimate the power of a Journalism major, for all you know essay writing might just be better than that of The Cylon God!
Wes I
In this contest you are a worthy adversary, and I look forward to seeing which of us shall triumph
The Cylon God
Evil always triumphs.
shaunomac
Happy Thanksgivng to those who entered the contest.

And also to those who did not enter..lol

The Cylon God
And may you share the same fate as the turkey...

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
Wes I
Would that be the turkey that got cooked or the one that got the pardon from the President?

I've been accused of being evil before, and much worse from time to time. The result of working retail and dealing with angry customers. If it gets too bad I may have to borrow that Cylon torture chair and put it to use.
The Cylon God
Hmmm... yes... about that torture chair.... seem Baltar has grown somewhat...attached to it since and won't let it go. Funny that. skep.gif

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

I have received alot of emails about that meaning that The Cylon God wishes me dead.

Calm down people, its all in good humor with the contest and the Thanksgiving holiday.

Thank you all for your concern in coming to my defense but truly do not believe that the Cylon God wishes me dead..lol

At least I hope not..lol

Shaun
Wes I
I suppose that if my essay is chosen instead of his then we'll find out for sure if he was serious or not...lol

Fear not, I'm only joking as well.
The Cylon God

Really? Wow. The Cylon God wishes no special ill-will towards Shaun... in fact his hatred is extended equally to all during this festive holiday season.

The Cylon God
Maybe I should start using smilies a lot more.

*Ahem*

And may you share the same fate as the turkey... daisy.gif love.gif bestwishes.gif hearthrob.gif hug.gif whitey.gif kiss.gif

Wes I
Doesn't have the same impact as last time, but it should keep people from getting the wrong impression...actually it probably won't.
shaunomac
I would have liked to have seen the reaction if Cylon God had posted that on a BSG thread.

They tend to be a bit reactionary on the BSG threads..MrsRon's Scifi as one example.

Seems to me the only one that is allowed to spew liberal view points without being bashed is MrsRon herself. Anyone gets bashed and called names.

The Cylon God
bawl.gif Can't we all just hate one another?
