Although many of the writing credits are still not known, the good news is that so far Elizabeth Ziff's name isn't among them. Let's hope it stays that way. *crosses fingers, toes, and all crossable body parts*

It's also interesting that the calibre of the directing talent this season isn't quite as illustrious as it was in seasons two and three. Also, the absence of Rose Troche's name as either a director or a writer would seem to confirm the rumours of her departure from the show.

it was alice that cybill was kissing...i predicted before that alice and cybill will hook up because of what i saw in vancouver and also from the "4 things you need you need to know about TLW" promo...i wonder how it happened, and coming out to bette was funny, i never saw speechless bette before

just when they were filming a party at Cybill's house for the college people, alice was there and she was filming a lot of scenes apart from bette, so if she wasn't there for bette shi was there probably for cybill

"the 4 things" was the first promo about season 4 where they showed new characters and they were showing them after the characters they were most likely be involved, so marlee was shown after bette, papi was shown after shane and max, marina was shown after jenny and cybill was shown after alice

Hi. I live in Vancouver. Many of my friends have been extras on the show, and a few are regular extras and have been since season 1., one has actually had lines. I'm not much of a TV watcher and I think the show kinda stinks. But they did tell me that Tina and Bette will not be getting back together this season. And that Daniela Sea's acting has gotten better. She's more expressive or something. And there's been talk on set that Alice might end up with a guy by the end of the season, but they say it's just rumor mostly. They're in the middle of shooting ep 10. Almost done actually.

The wrap party is next week and I can't wait. First of all Mia is not fired that is a rumor. Nobody dies this year. Well Kit has an abortion if that counts as a death. Tasha and Alice will be the big couple this year. Yesterday Leisha and Rose took promo pics that will be in magazines early December. Cybill and Marlee were added at the request of Les Moonves. Cybill's character will be floating in between two storylinesJennifer's and Marlee's and Leisha and Rose. Of course Jennifer is once again front burner this year as well as Daniela Sea. Mia, Laurel and Rachel are our B storylines. Rachel has took over the role as the resident comedian. Her storyline is pretty funny. Leisha has a big part in that as well. The top brass saw how well Leisha was recieved in season 3 so it was decided by them to make sure she was a front burner storyline. Daniela's storyline is quite unique this year.The audience should be pleased on how well Daniela's nailed the emotions of a transexual.Laurel's character is around and look for her to cause a lot of trouble between Marlee and Jennifer. The top brass didn't want Jennifer and Laurel's characters to have a open and shut ending so look for some leeway between the two of them at the end of episode 10. I hate to say this but they are the money couple as referred to by Les Moonves. Kate and Kristiana are so cute together. That storyline will be good. Kate's character will deal with demons and finally be happy and content in a relationship although Kristiana's character will break her heart. Sarah will be around for the first three episodes but then her character takes a Djing job in New York. That's all for now. I will be back after our killer wrap party. And yes the theme song will be change. It wasn't well recieved by the top brass. Ilene has about 52% control of the show..with CBS with the rest. The L Word will be more commerical this year. CBS spent a bundle on the promotional campagin. The girls took alot of pictures this year. Sorry for spelling erros I am rushing as I type this. Be sure to tune in this is the best L Word season yet. All fanbases should be happy. We got some new young writers on staff."

I wanked a while back that I thought Tina would still be working as a film executive and these sides seem to suggest that which is good news for us Tina peeps (even if she isn't working for Helena or eating out of cans with her. j/k ) and that the book Jenny was writing could be made into a film. Excuse the stereo bouncing but there has been almost a blackout about these two characters storylines. I just feel like bouncing. Of course, IC could let the Hollywood sign fall on Tina and Jenny head's while they are sipping mai tai's and there go my bounching balls.

What is interesting here is that Jenny's book either has written about Tina's experience or someone who left her female lover for a guy. The character in the book is named Nina. Oh, no, could season 3 be Jenny's book as she was writing it after all? Or, could Tina's comment to Jenny be informed by what she experienced in S1 and S3? More likely. Either way, it is certainly an indirect commentary by Tina on how she was made to feel by Bette when she cheated on her: humiliated. That is a very strong word to use and a very strong feeling. Which is what those of us who have wanked about Tina forever have felt for quite a while. Also, mostly mute Tina has finally spoken about how she felt about Bette's cheating. This is a small but positive sign that the writers may have finally given Tina a voice and POV. And, I love Jenny's interaction and pissy attitude to Hollywood dude. Ok, I was looking forward to S4 but I am now cautiously intrigued by it.

According to Laurel, who of course couldn’t reveal too much, Tina will be lonely for the first part of the season because she lost her friends and she will miss Bette a lot. And the main thing is that Laurel doesn’t think that this is where Tina will end up. Ultimately she will be really bored and lonely. Tina has a lot of growing up to do and Season 4 will help the audience to understand Tina better, to see that this character has a lot of layers and not just this good girl who keeps her mouth shut and helps her friends.

Also she will be a powerful executive for the movie studio and will be involved in making some movie with Jenny. There will be an appearance by Annabella Sciorra as a director and she will be at odds with Tina, but Laurel implied that something might happen between them at the end. Also, Tina will have a huge fight at the end. Will it be with Sciorra’s character? Jenny? Bette?

There are only about 2 weeks between the end of Season 3-- when Bette takes Angelica at the ski resort--and Season 4. Laurel said that Tina considered Bette taking Angelica as a kidnapping, and it will take Tina awhile to be able to trust Bette again, but eventually she will.

Now on to a little spoilery stuff. I got it from another board. It's mostly about Shane but there is a little something about the future of Bette's new relationship

I've read the scripts up to episode 9, and though Kate and Kristianna's characters have fun moments and interactions, the level of the relationship is nothing like Shane's relationship with Carmen, or even Cherie. And as far as how they break up, from what I know, Kristianna's character has a huge problem with the way Shane deals with her father's in-and-out presence in her life, and how he manipulates her when it comes to her little brother. They ultimately differ in a profound way, and I think by the end of the season, Shane will be coming back to herself (her character deviates quite a bit from what we've seen in the past at the beginning of the season.)

So I have hope for Season Five, but if I were watching the L Word as a newbie, I wouldn't hold out solid hope for ANY pairings. Marlee Matlin and Jennifer Beals have a delicious and the chemistry comes right off the page, but that's also a union that's not going to last.

I agree with others who have said this is not the show that it was in season one. I miss the thoughtful, funny and interesting storylines. I don't know many lesbians, but the ones that I do know are devoted to their friends and partnerships, and I wish that was true for Bette, Tina, Alice, Shane, and the rest of the gang.

Question: Anything you can share about the new season of The L Word?— Scotty

Ausiello: As you already know, Karina Lombard’s long-missed Marina makes a shocking return in the fourth season premiere on Jan. 7, which should cause big problems for the already bonkers Jenny, who has moved on from Moira-turned-Max to that French chick she hooked up with last year. Meanwhile, Kit makes a decision about her unborn baby that takes a bizarre twist once she goes to see her doctor.

For Tibette lovers :It is definitely pointing to a reapproachment at the end. Episode 12 -"Bette gets a heaping dose of honesty from Tina when she looks to her for advice on wooing back Jodi who's left for upstate NY. Tina returns to the lesbian fold + Kate Arden lets her know she's interested, but Tina has eyes for someone else"There are small hints along the way - "Jodi walks in on a tender moment
between Bette and Tina"

they definitely write this stuff to give you arcs only - who knows what's between the lines? I would have liked to see the way they characterised the OMFG sex in Season 3, becaws I remember it came as a complete surprise.

As per the synop :Bette has a party to introduce Jodi to the pack, and becomes very type A and hyped up about it. Apparently Jodi is "disgusted" by her behaviour

As we have all said there is ALOT that's going on.

here's what I think - there is a lot that is NOT in the spoilers. The scene descriptions get more hazy as the synop goes on. By the time you get to the description of episode 9, anything could be going on.Looks like Kit has a thing with one of the new girls They're making a big deal about Bette as "control freak". Also, get this:this season the war in iraq becomes an integral part of Alice's life as she struggles to move on after the death of Dana....Chaiken was particularly drawn to explore + expose a reality of the Iraq war that has been overlooked and ignored in the mainstream media....

Tell me what this means:Trying to get her bearings with Jodi, Bette allows her emotions to cloud her judgement and interferes with allocating scholarships, only to learn that she jumped the gun when Jodi tells her she wants to be monogamous

Okay - Just watched the 1st 3 episodes, and here is mho .
Light and frothy, funny, played for laughs - quick cuts back and forth between characters.
The woman straddling Bette in the car is Nadia her outrageously flirtacious asst. It's very silly. Bette will go on to tell her afterwards that it will not happen again.
The show is fun - so far very little angst, which is a relief.
Papi is being played as a type. Over the top - she is arresting, but so far it's kind of a goof, and they have a funny imagined show down between Papi and Shane - again, for laughs.
Then there are alot of subplots starting -
-Shane and Shay.
-Mia plays Jenny's obsession with a critic who betrayed with confident big wide strokes - I felt she was
terrific, and I think people might see her differently this year.
-Bette who is once again in charge - with a boss who's coming out, & is still upset about Tina.
-Tina who is trying to blend her friends into her new life, and doesn't look too good in it herself.
The party she has as a "mixer" is diasterous.
-Alice who's going out with Bette's boss, and seems up for anything.
-Helena who's learning to live without money,
-Kit with her abortion & boyfriend, and of course, last and certasinly least
-Max,a wooden,clueless, teenage nerd who looks dazed throughout, dating his boss's daughter
Sure it's cheesy in places, and sometimes they're laughing at themselves - but it is also a really charming way to get back into these characters lives before the meaty stories really start - All the girls shine.
I think they're wonderful.
My only complaint, since I'm so glad to see them back, is that they are so
overly made up, with heavy eye shadow and lashes & so often dressed in evening
wear that I find myself wondering if they're going to a Ball or something - after the show!

first of all the assistant doesn't look like Tina, although she is blond. She is completely in appropriate and Bette tries to keep her in check but her constant flattery finally gets to B.The sex in the car is 2 sec. They both just grab each other's faces and start smooching. I did not find it very
sexy - sorry. Bette has not met Jody at this point. At the very beginning of the show Bette is on the lam with the baby and you see all the girls in another hotel room leaving her a message of support on the phone, trying to convince her to come back but telling her they're on her side. Tina burst in screaming. Bette is on the phone with Joyce Wishnia and then you see them both in her office with the baby. Joyce convinces them that a custody hearing would be a a media circus, so they work something out.

psTina keeps her job at the movie studio, and is told to fire Helena - which she does. Helena looks for a job, Shane hires her and she is hopeless...I think what happens is that she begins a catering business eventually.Jenny is having the first reading of her book at the Planet, where else, and that's where Marina shows up and steals the show. Tina mostly looks angry all the time, in her evening wear.

WHen the girls call Bette to leave the message, they are trying to get her to come back to avoid making the situation worse. They are basically telling her that they know Angie is her daughter too and they will stick up for her if push comes to shove. Tina hears them, and screams over them - to Bette - that what she's doing isn't cool. etc AlsoI'm afraid KM's acting abilities may not quite be up to the role she's playing. The constant brooding angry beaten looks get old really fast.

I am more than happy to tell you what I've seen - hey, we've been together a L o n g time!
My guess would be that as usual, you will have to give this season LOTS of lattitude.
I think they are trying to change direction a bit, and play for more laughs. I'm telling you though, the makeup, the clothes, someone's smoking something on that set

Alice hooks up with the “web-famous” seductress Papi (Janina Gavankar); a gay writer (Heather Matarazzo) gets Jennifer to open up in an interview; and Bette's new dean (Cybill Shepherd) confides in her. Also, the new head of the studio orders Tina to do some of his dirty work; Max has a date with the boss's daughter.

Tina is with Henry and has not moved in with him - specifically. She seems to be trying to compute how exactly her life has changed, re her friends. She still feels she is part of the family but isn't being treated that way. As for Maxsorry, I'm not in the business of hurting anyone's feelings, but her acting ability seems to be - about the same. Her storyline is more interesting with her dating her boss's daughter, and telling her the truth about him/her self. Bette is driven, competetive and uptight. Her boss comes out to her and has an affair with Alice even though Bette begs Alice not to - then her boss (CS) becomes obsessed with Alice and is constantly trying to get Bette to help her with the situation. Bette is drawn to Jodi but they have a bad start with each other when Bette interupts Jody at work. Jodi is the kind of "free spirit" that Bette is not and she baits her about it. One night at a party Jodi makes Bette smoke a joint with her and they share a "shotgun" hit where their lips almost touch but they're interrupted. After a few days Jodi approaches Bette to tell her she knows Bette has been avoiding her because she is scared by the intimacy..They are clearly beginning to connect. Kit has an abortion, Angus has an affair with Henry's babysitter and Tina and Henry see them together - then Tina tells Bette, who is very hostile to her.
Actually there is a lot of sex. Jenny has kinky sex, Alice has sex with Papi and Cybil Shepard and probably will with Tasha, Something is cooking with Shane and a single mother, Bette is most definitely gonna have sex with Jodi, who did I forget?

As you've heard Tina is on the outs fighthing to stay in. She and Bette still have a contentious relationship over the baby, but it's clear there's something else there. No big scene yet, but she is very present, and looking great

Different people like different things - But If you can just GO with it, without expecting
earthshaking drama and resolution - It's irresistable.

The shooting style is different.
Some of the stories are cheesy ( I don't care for Kit + Angus storyline - but so what?
It's friggin entertaining!
This is FAR AND AWAY THE BEST SEASON SINCE 1 - and even though I've only seen 6 episodes, it's easy to make that statement.
I don't know if ultimatelysome of us will be happy with outcomes
but I can't imagine not enjoying the show..

As for Max - what can I say?

- Jody is a "free spirit" ( iit's a little obnoxious)and she feels Bette is very uptight and staid. When Bette goes to Jody the first time, she tells her she is scared, and she cries - JB is just - well, terrific. Around this time she has also had a fight with Tina about Angelica's education which she wants to be "ivy league""the best" etc etc - Tina tells her that she won't let Bette's ****ed up super achievement attitude make Angelica a nervous wreck before she's three, and they're arguing about pre school... - I think this theme resonates in Bette's storyline...
And no, there is no sex for Tina in the first 6 episodes. When Tina goes to play basketball with the girls and Jenny challenges her - Tina says she still identifies as a lesbian. You see her and Henry coming home in a car and they are sort of bickering* . The party is a diaster because the straights are straight and in their world - the men immediately making comments about what they think lesbians are, and the lesbos are bored and uninterested in the straights.
Also, Jenny imho opinion - Jenny is totally psychotic now. I feel a bit guilty telling you guys all this...I was lucky enough to get my hands on a reviewer's copy of the dvds.

she sees the world in a completely different way, I think she is realizing now how little they share.
When Bette and Tina meet, Bette keeps saying - I knew you'd move in with him..and Tina is incredulous
repeating that she has not moved in.

-When Joyce W explains what they would go thru if they fought for custody B+ T make a schedules arrangement.
-As of episode 6 Tina hasn't told anyone to **** off and I think she's still trying to figure out what's happening.
-At the start of episode one Shane has clearly gone straight to Cherie Jafee, who is having a decadent party at which everyone is doing drugs including Shane.
-In the written synopsis at the end of season 4 Jodie has left, and it doesn't sound like she's coming back.
-I wouldn't say the feeling was "poor Bette" at all, she has obviously been "processing" her breakup with her new attraction to Jodie.
There is not much else to tell you - you should have the pleasure of viewing it very soon!

It's clear that there's no "closure" (sorry I hate that word) between them. They aren't able to really communicate - Bette is clearly,if fleetingly upset after conversations with Tina.
When she talks to Jodi about things she and Tina did together, it's like it's still very real to her, right before she kisses Jodi for the first time, she cries, and you can tell it's Tina related, maybe, finally feeling that by getting involved with Jodi she is really letting Tina go....but all of these things are very quick impression type moments - nothing is said or really explained. From what I've seen, and I couldn't tell you why - I don't think there's any doubt that they'll be back together in some way - but maybe not this season.....Maybe we'll get all the courtship and romance and tension between them next season...

just want to delurk and say that like macfinn, i had the opportunity to view the first six epi's last week and for all you ha-ha whores out there, you will not be disappointed. nor will you be good will hunting for framily moments.

i must admit though, it took me until epi 3 before really feeling it. probably just me, though my friend who watched with me felt the same. leisha continues to bring the funny. somebody. somewhere. give this woman the recognition she so richly deserves. her limo scenes with papi are hilarious. as is a round robin telephone scene involving most if not all of the core cast. mangus delivers in spades at tina's het party. liked what i saw of CS. wasn't feeling MM.

kate appears constricted by the shane character. the writers need to grow this character and allow kate to show something other than pain and angst. some might think it's her acting, but i think it's the character. the s/l with the loken character takes awhile to develop, but has a lot of potential. when mia said jenny x10, she wasn't kidding. really. first she brings the funny. then she brings the spite. overall, the first six episodes are filled with the funny and the framily. and lest i give short shrift to the groan factor. you will groan. but that can be fun too.
