It looks like Jason is coming back to TV!!!!!

'Roswell' Lead Pleads 'Innocent' for FOX
Recast pilot from the '24' team is now ready to go forward
March 27, 2007

Only two weeks after FOX's "NSA Innocent" was put on hold for recasting, the high profile drama has found a new leading man.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the "NSA Innocent" producers, many veterans of FOX's "24," have settled on Jason Behr as the pilot's star.

Behr will play a regular family man and employee at a defense contractor, who gets recruited to spy on his bosses for the National Security Agency. Annie Wersching ("General Hospital") will play his wife.

Stephen Moyer was originally cast in the lead role, but after a table read earlier this month, writers Bob Cochran and David Ehrman realized that the main character needed to be reconceived. In this demographic-hungry TV world, "reconceived" often means "made younger," as was at least partially the case here. The trade paper says that other changes were made to the original script as well.

Best known from his tenure as Max on The WB's "Roswell," the 33-year-old Behr has been seen on the big screen in "The Grudge." He has upcoming turns in the features "Skinwalkers," "Senseless" and "The Tattooist."

ABC sees Locklear in 'Jayne'

By Nellie Andreeva
March 27, 2007

Heather Locklear has closed a deal to play the title role in ABC's comedy pilot "See Jayne Run," while Jason Behr has landed the lead in Fox's drama pilot "Company Man," previously known as "NSA Innocent."

Additionally, Johann Urb and Brianna Brown have joined the CW comedy pilot "Dash 4 Cash."

"Jayne," from ABC TV Studio and Brillstein-Grey TV, centers on an accomplished alpha female (Locklear) working in the male-dominated world of investment banking who struggles to balance career and motherhood.

The project reunites Locklear with the network and the studio following her starring role in the ABC/ABC TV Studio comedy pilot "Women of a Certain Age" last year. Locklear, who most recently toplined Lifetime's original movie "Angels Fall," is repped by ICM and Brillstein-Grey.

"Man," from 20th Century Fox TV and Realtime Prods., centers on a family man (Behr) recruited by the National Security Agency as a spy within the defense contracting company he works for. Also cast in the pilot is Annie Wersching ("General Hospital") as his wife.

"Roswell" star is new "Company Man" for Fox

Tue Mar 27, 2007 2:00AM EDT

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "Roswell" star Jason Behr has taken over the lead role in Fox's overhauled drama pilot "Company Man."

The project, previously known as "NSA Innocent," centers on a family man (Behr) recruited by the National Security Agency as a spy within the defense contracting company he works for. Annie Wersching ("General Hospital") will play his wife.

The pilot originally was scheduled to go into production two weeks ago with British actor Stephen Moyer as the lead. Following a table read March 12, the production start date was pushed in order to rework the concept and recast the lead.

The main character and his wife, a role that had not been cast, are now significantly younger.

COMPANY MAN (FOX)
DEVELOPMENT HISTORY:

???

STATUS:
currently in development (2007-2008 season)

DEVELOPMENT STAGE:
ordered to pilot

ADDITIONAL NOTES:
midseason 2008

DESCRIPTION:
(from FOX's press release) From the creative team behind "24," television's most exciting drama, comes a thriller with a different twist. Executive producers Robert Cochran, David Ehrman ("The Fugitive"), Jon Cassar, Joel Surnow and Howard Gordon ("24") explore the world of espionage through the eyes of an innocent man forced to spy for the National Security Agency. PAUL FISHER, a brilliant engineer who works in the defense industry, is an otherwise ordinary man with ordinary abilities, trying to live a normal life until he's thrust into a world of intrigue, violence and betrayal. Paul is an unwilling spy, forced to serve his NSA handlers in order to hide a secret that could destroy him. His burden is made even greater by the fact that, in order to protect his loved ones, he can't tell them what he's doing. An everyman pushed without warning into a brutal, Jack Bauer-esque world, Paul must learn the ropes of his second "job" very quickly, or die all the while fighting desperately to keep his marriage together. Paul's independent-minded wife, KATE, becomes suspicious when their once-strong bond seems to be unraveling with Paul's increasingly secretive behavior. She's determined to find out what's going on even to the point of hiring a private investigator. Sexy, tough Agency handler SARA BAKER (Stana Katic, "24") cajoles, seduces, bullies and blackmails Paul into working for her. Baker's veneer covers a growing admiration for Paul. But it's her job to pull him away from Kate and guide him through his various missions. TOM WICKS (Billy Brown, "Criminal Minds"), Baker's jaded but extremely competent partner, doesn't share her admiration for Paul's decency; in fact, he may be somewhat jealous of it. Paul and Wicks could not be less alike and the gap between them only widens as they work together. However, as with Baker, Paul has no choice but to trust Wicks with his life. Directed and executive-produced by Emmy Award winner Jon Cassar ("24"), this unique series from 20th Century Fox Television and Realtime Productions combines the excitement of a thriller with the heart of a sophisticated character drama.

A little more info from the Futon Critic!

COMPANY MAN (FOX) - Jason Behr ("Roswell") and Annie Wersching ("General Hospital") have been tapped for the lead roles in the drama pilot, about a family man (Behr) recruited by the National Security Agency as a spy within the defense contracting company he works for. Behr will play the title role of Paul Fisher, while Wersching is set as his wife Kate Fisher. The revised casting notice for the former character details him as - "Late 20s-Early 30s. Smart, thoughtful...and a brilliant engineer. He will be enlisted by the government, against his will to be a spy. He's clever enough to succeed, but he's no hero. He's an ordinary guy - who just wants to start a family with his young wife." - while the latter is described as - "Late 20s-Early 30s. Formally a corporate lawyer who got addicted to painkillers. Got into a car accident while under the influence and was disbarred. She just wants to get pregnant and start a family with Paul. Smart, warm...and a touch fragile." Behr takes over for Stephen Moyer, who exited the project after the producers opted to revamp the show with a significantly younger cast as well as write out the couple's son (played by Jesse James).

at this time Sara baker (Stana Katic, "24") and Tom Wicks (Billy Brown, "Criminal Minds") are still atached to project. Unless they recast these roles as well with the leads changing.
Vicki
Sara and Tom are characters. Are you meaning the actors who were cast to play them are still attached?

Found some casting notices. The first is the original notice and the second one is the lastest notice. You can see how much the project has changed. smile.gif The name has even changed a few times.

(Los Angeles, CA) -Title: NSA INNOCENT, TV Pilot for FOX. EXEC PROD, Joel Surnow, Bob Cochran, Howard Gordon, David Ehrman; DIR, Jon Cassar; WRTR, Bob Cochran, David Ehrman. Contract: SAG. Shoot Dates: March, 2007 (in Los Angeles). Breakdown-- Paul Fisher: Late 30's-Early 40's. He's the NSA innocent. Athletic, but also intellectual, he is a scientist at home in the world of ideas and abstractions. Married with a sixteen year old son, his family life is undergoing some strains, which are greatly increased when the NSA forces him to spy for them, in absolute secrecy (even from his wife) on a co-worker suspected of treason. In the course of the pilot, and the series, Paul will discover inner resources and strength which allow him to survive in this unfamiliar and brutal world. Name Actos. Series Lead; Kate: Late 30's. Paul's wife, a surgical nurse. Pretty, independent, caring, and in love with her husband but troubled by his tendency to be distant-a tendency which is exacerbated by his involvement with NSA (which she knows nothing about). Despite a strong desire to preserve her marriage, she is determined to find out the truth behind her husband's seemingly inexplicable behavior. Series Lead; Baker: Mid 30's, any ethnicity. NSA agent. Smart, sexy and tough, responsible for "recruiting" Paul against his will. Despite her outwardly calm and professional manner, she harbors a secret tragedy which is hinted at in the pilot and will be explored during the series. She may also find herself, against her better judgment, attracted to Paul more than she should be. Series Lead; Wicks: Late 30's-Mid 40's, any ethnicity. NSA agent. A man with a good sense of humor and a bit of an attitude (ala Tommy Lee Jones), who thinks he is a stud. A company man in love with his job. He is in your face, intimidating, sees the world as black and white. Series Lead; Frank: Mid 40's. Kate's older brother, Paul's boss. He and Paul don't get along. Frank, an ambitious and successful management type, can at times be pompous and self-important, but he also genuinely cares for his sister, and is determined to protect her from what he sees as Paul's possible infidelity-not realizing that he has been targeted as a possible traitor by the NSA and Paul. Series Lead; Andrew: 16. Paul and Kate's son. A basically decent kid who has begun hanging out with the wrong crowd. He gets caught up in a drug bust with a friend in Mexico and frantically calls his dad when he ends up in a Mexican prison. Series Lead. (Posted: January 11, 2007)

THey really want this project to work out.

A couple of factors it is creators of 24. If they get this show from pilot and land on the network schedule that gives Season 7 and 8 for the show 24. When this new show Company Man would be in its Freshman and Sophmore season. So when the other show is aging the new show will just be hitting its stride with season 3.

For them to be at a table read with the old cast and pay the actors a penalty fee and let them go. Start over at the casting stage and pay the crew to sit for 2 weeks while they recast.

That is alot of money in the hole. Most projects would be dead in the water and fall into the heap of going no where pile.

This project did not. They recast, paid the fees, paid the crew and are going forward this week with new cast table reads. Monday they start filming pilot on location.

Sad part is if this does get on the network schedule seeing any kind of filming will be out. The producers will most likely film this where 24 is filmed which is a private owned facility not a studio.

Just like for example Buffy and Angel JW had a private owned facility with a gated set in Santa Monica.

24 is shot in Chatsworth

So unless they film on location this will not be accessible show like Roswell was.

If you ever went to Santa Clarita its one thing not to far of a drive.

Then if you ever gone to Palmdale you left boonies a hour before.

It seems that Frazier Park is about another hour north of Santa Clarita and
might be left of the boonies and another few miles till you hit anywhere USA skep.gif

Another Roswell Star Scores a Major Television Gig

by Rachel Thomas

It was the show that launched the careers of some of televisions biggest stars such as Katherine Heigl (Grey's Anatomy), Adam Rodriguez (CSI: Miami) and Emilie de Ravin (Lost), Roswell was one of those special shows that captivated all who tuned in to watch the lives of those endearing teenage aliens. Jason Behr, who portrayed Max Evans on the cult classic, is the latest cast member to score a big primetime gig. Behr will take on the starring role in Company Man, an upcoming drama on Fox about a family man who becomes a spy for the National Security Agency (NSA). If Fox picks up the pilot, the series will likely appear on the fall schedule.

Sun Apr 1, 2007 11:49PM EDT

By Nellie Andreeva

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Sarah Brown has joined the cast of Fox's drama pilot "Company Man," which stars Jason Behr as a family man recruited by the NSA to spy on the defense contracting company he works for.

Brown, a three-time Daytime Emmy winner for her role on "General Hospital," will play the man's co-worker.

Timm Sharp will co-star in CBS' comedy pilot "I'm in Hell," which centers on a dead Wall Street player (Jason Biggs) who is reassigned to hell on Earth. Sharp will play his "roommate from hell," a slovenly, disreputable guy.

Ian Gomez has joined Fox's comedy pilot "The Beast," which centers on a womanizing veterinarian (Steve Howey). Gomez ("Felicity") will play his partner at the vet clinic.

Child actor Nathan Gamble has landed the lead in Fox's untitled comedy pilot about a 10-year-old who tries to navigate life in his high-achieving, stressed family with the unorthodox help of his slightly crazy grandfather (Tom Conti). Macey Cruthird ("Hope & Faith"), who will play his older sister.

Filming in Palmdale area must be associated with the scene of desert testing and doom buggies that was in the first draft IMO. That area would make sense for that scene so it seems our source info is going to be pretty on the money.
