~ She has played a character named Isabel/Isobel three times: Played Isabel Linton in MTV's Wuthering Heights, Isabel Evans in Roswell and Isobel Stevens in Grey's Anatomy ( Isabel Evans/Isobel Stevens? They even rhyme! ). Her character's nickname in both Roswell and Grey's was Izzy/Izzie/Iz. She also played a character named Aizy in Critical Assembly. In My Father The Hero, her dad's girlfiend (played by Emma Thompson in an uncredited role) was also named Isabelle.
She jokingly said in an interview that she may have been Isabel in her past life.

~ She's had a love interest named Alex in both Roswell and Grey's. She also played a character named Alex/Alexia in Disney's Wish Upon a Star.

~ Played a character named Sarah in Under Siege 2. On Grey's, Izzie named her daughter Sarah before giving her away for adoption.

~ Her character in both Roswell and Grey's has always been the "odd girl out" and had closer bonds with male friends. Liz and Maria were really close friends in Roswell leaving Izzy out, but she eventually found a friend in Kyle. ~ Izzie's male best friend in both Roswell and Grey's ended up falling in love with her. Roswell's Kyle fell for Isabel in it's third season while Grey's George is in love with Izzie right now.

~ There was a Denny character in both Grey's and Roswell. We know our dear Denny Duquette, of course, but in Roswell, the name of the guy who was possessed by Izzy's alien lover was also Denny.

~ Jesse was the name of Izzy's husband in Roswell. Her boyfriend in Bride of Chucky was also named Jesse.

~ In Grey's Anatomy, George is Izzie's best friend and current flame. In her upcoming film 27 Dresses, George is also the name of her sister's fiancee whom she has a crush on.

~ Tess was the fourth alien in Roswell. In 27 Dresses, her sister who is getting married is also named Tess.

~ Grant was the name of the guy who was trying to kill her character Marissa in Zyzzyx Road. Roswell also had a character named Grant, who also tried to kill Isabel. Both Grants ended up dead.

~ She had a love interest named Ben in two of her movies. In her first starring role, My Father the Hero, name of he guy she had a crush on was Ben. Seth Rogen plays a character named Ben Stone in Knocked Up.

~ Singer Vaughan Penn had songs featured in two of Katie's TV Shows. "The Deeper I Fall" was played during Isabel's wedding in the Roswell episode, To Have and to Hold. Grey's Anatomy's Izzie also had a Vaughan Penn song playing in the background of one of her scenes. "Truth" was featured in Izzie's empowering scene in the episode No Man's Land.

~ Isabel and Jesse's wedding song in Roswell (The Edge of the Ocean by Ivy) was also played in a pivotal Izzie scene on Grey's Anatomy. It was the background music on the scene where Izzie sees and subsequently breaks up with her hockey playing boyfriend Hank.

~ Reference to nazi: She was called "The Christmas Nazi" in Roswell. Grey's also has "The Nazi", played to perfection by Chandra Wilson as Miranda Bailey.

~ Her character was obsessed with Christmas in Grey's and Roswell hence, "The Christmas Nazi" nickname. In Grey's, her friends also gave Izzie a nickname---Tiny Tim---because of her Christmas obsession.


~ Her character organized an annual "Santa's Christmas Village" in Roswell. In Grey's, Meredith made a reference to "Santa's Freakin' Village" in Episode 212 - "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer". That was the scene in the hallway when Izzie was yelling at them for helping Alex study for his clinical boards.

~ Her character in in Roswell wanted to be a supermodel after high school even though the computer told her she was leaning towards caregiving fields. Her character in Grey's was an ex-fashion model who became a doctor, a caregiving field if there ever was one! Katie also did some modeling early in her career, making this a case of art imitating life.
Maybe Isabel from Roswell became a model, studied medicine and moved to Seattle!

~ Izzie's boyfriend died in both series.

~ Both boyfriends who died came back at some point in the series. Denny Duquette came back in Grey's Anatomy as Meredith's "guide" in the afterlife. Roswell's Alex came back as Isabel's voice of reason.

~ There is a closet scene in both series where Izzie tries to successfully seduce Alex.

~ Hissy fits in a car - Katie's characters seem to love having fights in a car. Knocked Up's Allison had one with Ben while they were on their way to the Gynecologist. In 27 Dresses, Jane had a fight with Kevin while driving in the rain.

~ Izzie loves pink dresses! She wore a pink dress in a pivotal scene in both Roswell and Grey's. Isabel wore a pink strapless dress for her birthday in the Roswell episode Surprise. Izzie wore an almost identical dress to the "prom" in the Grey's episode Losing My Religion.

~ In Roswell Izzy is the perky do-gooder type, much like our dear Izzie in Grey's Season 1 & the first half of Season 2.

~ Played a medical student who got killed in the opening scene of Valentine. Plays a surgical intern in Grey's.

~ Played the role of Princess twice. She was Princess Ilene in Prince Valiant. In Roswell, she was the alien princess Isabel/Vilandra from Antar.

~ She has starred in 3 movies that were adaptations of classic novels. She appeared as Miranda Prosper in Shakespeare's The Tempest, which was set during the Civil War. She also apeared in MTV's Wuthering Heights, a modern adaptation of the Emily Bronte novel. Descendant was based on Edgar Allan Poe's The Fall of the House of Usher and she played the dual role of Ann & Emily Hedgerow in the film.

~ Shannon, her character in Bug Buster, went on a movie date and watched a film called House of Usher, which was based on, you guessed it, the very same Edgar Allan Poe novel.

~ We all probably know that she starred in this summer's "Knocked Up" which is the follow-up film to "40-year-old Virgin" but did you know that Katherine's bestselling 2004 FHM cover (shown above) was shown in the previous film?

~ Three of the characters she played have had life-changing drunken sex. Izzie was inducted into the Dirty Mistresses Club when she did the nasty-nasty with George in the Grey's episode My Favorite Mistake. Her Knocked Up character Alison Scott had a one-night-stand with a slacker and got knocked up. On 27 Dresses, she slept with Kevin after they hung out all night in a bar and got drunk.

~ She has played a pregnant woman twice. The first was in Love Comes Softly and the second, in this summer's Knocked Up. On Grey's, her character Izzie also got pregnant in her teens (although it was never shown) and subsequently gave her daughter up for adoption.

~ Roswell's Isabel was adopted by the Evanses. On Grey's, Izzie gave her daughter up for adoption.

Fun Facts about Katie:

~ She is very close to her mother Nancy, who is also her manager. They have lived together until she was 26 years old.

~ She is the youngest of four children. She had 2 older brothers and one older sister. Her older brother Jason died in 1986. Her sister Meg was adopted and is of Asian-American descent.

~ She is engaged to singer Josh Kelley. He gave her a 3.2 carat pear-shaped diamond engagement ring, which has half of her mother Nancy's platinum wedding band. The other half is in her sister Meg's engagement ring.

~ She has done several movies where she played older sister to someone who was actually older than herself in real life. In Wish Upon a Star, Danielle Harris, who played younger sister Hayley, is actually older by a year and a half. In Roswell, younger brother Max (played by her ex Jason Behr) is 5 years older than Katie. In her newest film 27 Dresses, she plays older sister to Malin Akerman, who is 6.5 months older than her. Believe it or not, she has also played mother to someone older than herself. January Jones played her stepdaughter Missie Davis in Love's Enduring Promise but is about 11 months older than Katie.
Ironically, Isabel in the Roswell High books was actually the little sister who was still a Junior in High School. If the writers followed the books, Katie and Jason's relative ages would have been correct.

~ She's the baby of the Grey's Anatomy cast. She is the only cast member who has not reached the age of 30 yet. The next youngest member of the original cast is T.R. who is 5 years older than her. In the extended cast, Sara Ramirez is the next youngest but she's still 3 years older than Katie.
She's been looking so much younger than the rest of the cast lately, which she is, but they're all supposed to be about the same age, right?

~ She has the same birthday and her Roswell love interest Colin Hanks. They were both born on November 24, one year apart. Hanks was born in 1977 and Heigl in 1978.

I was watching My Father The Hero last night when I realized that the name of her dad's girlfriend was also Isabelle. I added that to the list. I also added the bit about the closet scene where she parctically mauls Alex in the eraser room.

Oh I remember one now. In Roswell's "To Have To Hold" Jesse/Isabel's first dance as husband and wife was to the song "End of the Ocean". In Grey's Anatomy episode "Shake Your Groove Thing" that exact same song is played when Izzie reunites with her hockey boyfriend Hank who never see ever again lol.

I liked Hank. He was smokin'! I felt so bad for the actor 'cause he was only in a couple of scenes in that episode but he made his mark. Maybe they should bring him back sometime.

He was hot , and I like the idea he was someone out of SGH. But He was still a butthead IMO . He just didn't understand Izzie the Surgeron. He wanted Izzie the Supermodel, and that's not who she truly is. As she said in "Losing My Religion" she was became use to men walking away when they found out who she truly was . Hank was sadly an example of that .

Great catch. Well, they were not really ghosts. Alex just became Isabel's "imaginary friend" and Denny was only in Meredith's afterlife, but still, they came back.

Well on Roswell they never said if Alex was a ghost or a mainfestion of Isabel's guilt. They left that up to the viewers' interpretation(which I think it's cool). I remember this one interview by Katie on the TV Guide Channel(can be found on the site) where she says you never know if we are seeing Alex's ghost or if it's all in Isabel's head . I just want didn't want to get technical . To me he is a somewhat of a ghost that only Isabel can see lol. That's just how I interpretated it .

Actually Denny wasn't only in Meredith's afterlife . Denny did feel Izzie(at the very end), and that wasn't in Meredith's afterlife limbo land . It was closure for him to go on to Heaven since that was longest time Denny ever felt Izzie by him since his death . Denny was in fact a ghost at SGH at least according to the interviews and articles I seen . Izzie and Denny would feel each other from time to time prior to Mer drowing herself(i.e. Izzie mentioned this in "Drowning On Dry Land" and Denny in "Some Kind of Miracle"). So IMO Denny was a ghost since he felt Izzie without being in Meredith's afterlife limbo .

Sorry for being so techincal . With ghosts and supernatural stuff things can be so technical .

Oh, okay. Didn't see that interview. I just remembered some dialogue in Departure when Izzy said Alex was just a figment of her imagination but that could be subject to different interpretations.

You do have a point there and I know it's really hard not to be technical when it comes to this afterlife stuff. You're right. Denny and Izzie did feel each other. They had a very poignant moment at the end of that episode. I just seem to recall hearing a podcast where one of the commentators said that Denny wasn't really a ghost ("This is your afterlife, not mine."). Well, I could be wrong but I can't confirm it 'cause I deleted the podcast from my ipod.

Speaking of moments, the Izzie/Denny moment in Some Kind of Miracle was my favorite Grey's Anatomy scene ever. It was too beautiful and bittersweet. Oh, Denny...

I know another piece of trivia . On Roswell dvds they used different songs as compared to the ones that original aired due to rights and so forth. Anyways in the Roswell Wedding episode "To Have And To Hold" the song that plays when Isabel and Jesse say their wedding vows "The Deeper I Fall" by Vaughan Penn(one of my fav songs by the way).

On GA they used the same artist Vaughan Penn - "Truth" for an Izzie scene in S1 "No Man's Land". When Izzie does one of the most well known smackdowns on the show .

I dont think I can remember a single song from Roswell save the theme tune It was years ago.

I can remember certain things, but not music . I came across it when I was organizing my MP3 the other day. It just occured to me that concidently used the same artist for both Isabel/Izzie scenes .

Despite what IMDB says...I dont believe Katie has ever appeared in an episode of Law and Order. Having not seen that episode I cannot confirm either way though.

about 3 months ago, the episode of L&A she was suppose to be in was suppose to be on USA at like 2am, and I was going to watch it, but I fell asleep.

Really? I have been keeping an eye out for it but it is so long ago...the chances of seeing the repeat are pretty slim. It is not available on DVD either so no way of checking for sure.

i dont know if this is luck, or what..but the episode of Law & Order she is suppose to be in, is going to be on TNT Monday May 7th, at 3pm EST. So, I'm going to have to watch that.

Another piece of concidence trivia . This time the common link is the House of Usher.

In the movie 1998 Bug Buster(way way campy B-movie flick ) Katie's character Shannon went on a movie date and watched the movie House of Usher which is based off the work of Edgar Allan Poe. In the movie 2003 Decendent(I'm actually quite fond of this movie, and Katie and Jeremy London were just hot ) is a psychological thriller, inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's "The Fall of the House of Usher," concerns a young novelist (Jeremy London) tormented by his family's history and haunted by the spectre of his long-dead, more famous ancestor. London's character is a decendent of Usher, and Katie's character is a decendent of Hedgerow.

Just a funky connection between two Katie films .
