NEW LINE LINES UP YOUNG GODS FOR 'OSIRIS RELEASE'
Modern day godlings to battle it out in action fantasy

LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA
THE SKINNY: New Line Cinema has a top secret plan for a new franchise to take the place of their well-milked LORD OF THE RINGS cash cow. Its name is OSIRIS RELEASE, and the idea is to line up a cast of international hot young things in a super-powered action extravaganza.
The studio is in talks with TV dreamboats Ian Somerhalder (LOST), Matthew Bomer (TRU CALLING), Jason Behr (ROSWELL), Jared Leto (MY SO-CALLED LIFE), Kevin Zegers (ZOOM), Mitch Morris (QUEER AS FOLK) and Bryan Greenberg (ONE TREE HILL) for the main American roles.
And to reach the international market, they are casting foreign actors such as France's Gaspard Ulliel (HANNIBAL RISING), Britain's Lee Williams (NEW STREET LAW), Italy's Riccardo Scamarcio (CRIME NOVEL), German actor Knut Berger (WALK ON WATER), Brazilian Reynaldo Gianecchini (BELISSIMA), and Argentine actress Emilia Attías.
Director Hideo Nakata left the project and now a new director is being sought after. Joss Whedon, Takashi Shimizu, Alejandro Amenabar and James McTeigue are in talks to take the empty chair.
OSIRIS RELEASE concerns five young men who discover that they are the reincarnations of ancient Egyptian Gods. Situated in the modern day world, the new gods will have to use their super powers to protect the world from the apocalypse and a group of enemies yet to come.
Scheduled for a late 2008 release, the studio expects OSIRIS to launch a new franchise.

Dont get your hopes up this seems to good to be true.
Just the amount of money to get some of these names seems unreal.
Also if they dont have a director once they do a director then goes to casting not the other way around. Not always but usually director attached before casting starts.
Now in our favor would be JW as director since he has worked with Jason before.
But at the same time this seems rumor not a fact.

And in terms of costs, they're only looking for 5 young men -- the multitude of names is the pool from which they'll go fishing, 
But in the end, they'll only be picking -- and paying -- five.
That should make it easier. None of the names is in the multi-million dollar League of Extraordinarily Paid Gentlemen, yet, so this would be cheap! (Just to get one big name, like Brad Pitt, they have to pay over $20 million, so this would be like "outsourcing" to another planet.)
All five of these guys wouldn't cost what one mega-star would, and they'd be grooming a stable -- like "buy low, sell high" -- get them now, and let them go platinum while you've got them in your stable.
And unlike "Batman" or other such movies, you aren't dependent on one star to make it or break it. The more stars, the more insurance, and if any one of them gets temperamental -- he's out. You've got plenty more where he came from, and these godlings can always discover a country cousin or two as replacements.
I think it sounds cool, feasible, and very, very clever! I sure hope this comes true, but I haven't seen it on any other tracking websites, etc.

That was exactly what I thought. If Shinizu is there maybe Jason would have a bigger chance then the rest.
