Last of the Time Lords

I guess I should have started the counting with the Christmas ep. I think we should be at 13 not 12. Sorry

OK, I have very mixed feelings about this ep . I think, with the cast ,the expectations were just so high it was hard not to be disappointed. Part of the problem was I HATED the “old Doctor” storyline. At least once it came to CGI I liked that creature/doctor better. I also really don’t think Martha’s family work. I mean, I would have been devastated to see any of Rose’s family in servitude but Martha’s…….not so much. What happened to her brother ?

I did like a lot of it. I liked the little sphere creatures. I honestly thought they were Daleks remade, even up till the opening. I was truly horrified by what they really were.

I LOVED Simm. He gives great crazy. I’ll be pissed if he can’t come back. Master/wifey played well. Sort of shocked/abused. I cheered when she joined in on the Doctor chant. But I fear it was her at the end picking up stuff at the Master's "pyre".

The Doctor chant thing was pretty cool.

Martha ROCKED! Good on her for saving the world and being strong enough to walk away from the Doctor at the end. But she’s not leaving, right? I actually love her as a companion but I don’t want her to have to humble herself to come back. If she is leaving, can we PLEASE have Sally Sparrow? I love Sally Sparrow even WAY more than Rose.

OK prolly the best part of the story for me was the Doctor feelings about the Master. So many time the Doctor has to kill a race off. His desperation to NOT kill the only other Time Lord was poignant . It played on so many levels.

And lastly OMG!!!!! Jack is the Face of Bo!!!!!!!! I SO did not see that coming. Now I need to rewatch all the eps with the Face of Bo. Not sure I buy Jack leaving a chance to hang with the Doctor to go back to Torchwood. I think they could have been more clever with getting him back to Torchwood. I pray he'll lighten up characterwise on Torchwood now. I want Torchwood to live up to it's potential.

Wonder why the Doctor is keeping his hand? Again, they made a big deal out of showing it in the TARDIS.

Looking back, the highlight of series 3 was Weeping Angels. That ep just ROCKED!

also edited to add. I just listened to the Pod cast and the confidential. I assume we'll have a guest companion for the Christmas ep. They were making a big deal. Surely not Billy Piper? That would rock but not just after Martha made her stand. I think the reset of their relationship is great. He's treater her a little bit badly cause he's afraid fo a repeat of Rose. Having Rose come back durring Martha's break {I refuse to beleive she's gone for good, obviously} who screw the Doctor up even more. Wonder who else could it be? Can't wait for Christmas

rewatching bits again how much did I want Jack to go down on his Torchwood hidden elevator thingy!

On first viewing of this, I was very disappointed. It really didn't live up tp expectations.

Then I watched the Confidential afterwards, and then re-watched the ep last night. And I was a lot happier.

I also hated the old Docotor storyline thing. It didn't work for me. I get that the Master was lording over the Doctor - keeping him as his helpless pet - but it just didn't work for me. Very old CGI Doctor was cute though

I also wondered what happened to the brother. Why didn't anone in the family mention him? They're supposed to be such a close family, and yet no-one mentioned him??

Add me to the list that thought the sphere were the Daleks! In hindsight though, there's no way the Master would hook up with them - he might be insane, but he's still a TimeLord, so the Daleks are his enemy.

Martha walking away at the end was unexpected (by me). Freema's not left the series, so Martha will be back. It made sense that she wouldn't just up and leave her family though. (I think Rose would have left hers... I think I like MArtha better than Rose!).

Martha meaving left the Doctor all alone again. I felt for him then. He's always alone in the end. And having just lost the Master, and having to deal with being the last Time Lord again, he needed some company.

The Doctor's feelings about the Master - his death etc - was very moving. It really worked that he was desperate for the Master to live, even though he was such a problem for him.

Jack as the Face of Boe! That totally blindsided me! Made me too! Explains such a lot about the Face of Boe and how he knew about the Master etc. But poor Jack, going to turn into just a face! It also had me confused. Jack is human - so how could Cassandra be the last human, if the Face of Bow was still alive? Surely Jack being human means the Face is human??

I also thought Jack would have chosen the Doctor over Torchwood. Obviously he needed to choose Torchwood, for the show, but I'd have preferred a better reason for him staying behind.

And, as the Doctor kept his hand, and the TARDIS had landed in Torchwood at the end of the last ep there, and Jack had the hand then, and hadn't seen the Doctor for the whole Master thing... I'm wanting to know how Torchwood explains the end of it's last ep without contrdicting Doctor Who

I thought this was funny too Subtle political statement But as the President was killed by a sphere, surely they should have been around? Or have I missed something?

I don't think it'll be Billie. She's gone for good, surely. They made such a big deal of Rose being gone for good, trapped in the alternate Universe.

Rumours over here say Kylie Minogue is guest starring in the Christmas ep. Maybe she'll be the new 'companion' for Christmas?

I can't wait to find out how the TARDIS gets fixed now the Titanic has hit it And how come it broke anyway? I thought the TARDIS was supposed to be invincible in that way?

Billie Piper has said she WOULD come back for a movie. I guess I just figured after being away for a year she might miss things enough to do a special.

'Last Of the Time Lords' was a good epiosde. The Master has taken over the world, and the Doctor is helpless against him. He enslaved most of humanity, with only Martha as the only person who could stop him. It was wonderful to see how Martha was able to save the Master and save the Doctor. As for the Master being dead, don't bet on it. He was able to take over a human body before in the American made Doctor Who movie, and chances are that he'll do it again. The Master will be back, this time as a woman. We also learn that Captain Jack will one day become the Face Of Bo. I hope that Torchwood will come to the Sci-Fi Channel one of these days.

Would just like to comment that Kylie Minogue is going to be in the Christmas Special 2007. Then for half of the next series Catherine Tate from the last Christmas Special will be returning. Then after that half of the series, Martha will return as well.

When I was watching the episode with some friends they made sure that they were well and truly drunk. Have to say that I wish I could have been as drunk as they were.
