I know that this isn't a typical thread for Brendan's board, but I know he wouldn't mind, and many of my best net friends post on this forum.
I'm sorry that I haven't been around much the last few weeks, but my mother has been having a pretty rough time of it. Nearly dying several times. She is currently in the ICU at our local hospital, with several life threatening issues. Please help me pray for the pain to ease, and for her to have the strength to continue fighting.
Thank you!

Thank you so much for your prayers. Things were looking very grim this time yesterday. I spent the night in my mom's room to make sure that she was kept as comfortable as she could be, and our prayers were answered, we were able to get the pain under control, and she is able to rest comfortably. The doctors are still working out the best plan of attack, but it looks like there will be time to make some smart decisions.
Thank you!

Lisa, I'm so sorry to hear about your mom in ICU.

I know what it's like to have a parent in a similar situation--it's scary and stressful--so I am glad to hear that things are more under control now--my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, and with the doctors to make the right decisions for your mom's care. Don't forget to take care of yourself, too.

Again, thank you everyone for your prayers and well wishes. My mom is gradually improving, but there have been a few medicaton errors that have caused problems. We are trying to have a family member with her around the clock to try to minimize these sorts of errors.
It looks like she will need to have a heart valve replaced in a few months once they get her strong enough to survive the surgery.

My uncle had this op a few years ago. It's major surgery, and very scary, but his life is now much improved.
I hope your Mom continues to get stronger and is able to have her surgery. My best thoughts are with you.

She had a bit of a set back today... the nurses got busy, and were not able to get her pain medicine as scheduled, so it got ahead of her a bit.

She is pretty depresed at the moment because she is so weak, and can't even move enough to take care of her own needs. It's looking like she will need a home nurse or aid to help her when she gets home.

Thank you for the update,
Lisa. I'm sorry about the setback--I hope they can settle into a proper schedule and stick to it. Is it possible for her to have her own nurse while still in the hospital? I know that's not always feasible.

I'm sorry she's feeling depressed about it--your mind is a very powerful tool in healing, and I hope that her stress can be eased so that she can feel stronger in both mind and body.
Sending lots more healing vibes!

We are back home, which is good. The doctors all know her special medical issues, and that is a big help.

I just got home from the hospital. She had another round of emergency surgery this evening. They still have her on a ventilator, and are keeping her sedated until morning. The surgery went about as well as could be expected under the circumstances. Infection is the biggest worry at the moment.

Oh Gosh, How I wish I could help you out there, but unfortuntaley Red Cross told me last year( & years before ect.) that it wasn't "wise" for me to do this at that time, so I'm going to go ask agian, It's always been an "issue" for me, not to be able to help in this way, as I've always put everyone else ahead of me, so look I'll go ask agian later on today & let you know okay.
I think if you can, everyone should do this on a regular basis, & not for the "selfish reasons"($) . I mean most people are "scared" of any type of needles, I understand this, but if just they could put that aside for just a 1/2 hour a day, week, month.. whatever amount of time length, everyone would truely understand how this is very important.( unless they have the same bad luck I have eh!). But Never give up ever .
*Oh! sorry

I got carried away, let me know if you'd want me to edit this out okay.*
Lisa, I will keep my prayers & thoughts for you & your family that your Mom has a speedy recovery
Bless her so much..
Thanks for letting us all know here. xoxo

She's gone.
She passed away peacefully early Sunday morning. We were fortunate to have had the time to say our good-bye's.
I'm going to close this thread now as their won't be further updates.
Again, I wish to thank everyone for their prayers and wishes of support. It was extreamly comforting.
Feel free to PM or e-mail me off the boards.
