I sure as hell hope they do a better job with James than they did last time. Talk about underused

I watched, for James but I HATE anything Superman and I really don't like Smallville. I can only hope he does all his scenes with the guy who plays Lex. ...or the Lex dad guy, I like him too

You certainly put your finger on the 2 best actors on that show. Still, my expectations are not so high this time. I think this will be 2 episodes (was going to be 4 but I think the writer's strike has effected the schedule....anyway, I episode the end of January and I think the next will be in April and that's it. I'll be watching....that's for sure.

The Smallville magazine comes out today. Should be a nice article with James in it. I'll keep my eyes open for it.

The CW has uploaded a directors cut of next Thursdays's Smallville. James is heavily featured and looks GREAT!

He plays evil well!

I like the hair. Man I just don't like this show. Too many dumb people are the good guys. I like Smart good guys, if I can't have that then I'll take smart goodlooking bad guys

Here's a recap of the eppie:
http://www.buddytv.com/articles/smallville...sona-16261.aspxI liked the amount that they used James...but man, they made him look more like the "undead" than he ever looked as Spike!
Vinity
Feb 1 2008, 06:25 PM
Yeah, maybe that was it. I thought he was a little more Spike-like in this than Torchwood. I couldn't tell what was making me think that. How many eps is he scheduled for?
Berengaria
Feb 1 2008, 06:35 PM
They only have him scheduled in for 2 total (although I thought he had said that he was doing 4 eppies. I think the writer's strike may have interfered with what they are showing. )
Just a quick replay of key JM scenes

OMG that guy was Jimmy Olsen from the movies!
Berengaria
Feb 1 2008, 11:13 PM
Yes, and he's just 5 years older than James. I think our guy is really aging well.
(I mean mirror in the attic well )
Vinity
Feb 4 2008, 01:02 AM
It is pretty amazing. I wonder about his parents? How they aged. I saw Rachel Welch on Craig F the other night and she looks amazing. She has to be pushing 70 and she looks 40. I know these people have plastc surgery but you can have it on your whole body and she doesn't look old anywhere, legs, neck, hands? I'm sure she's had work on her face but it was damn good as it stll moves and doesn't look tight at all.
I wonder if they're are people out there that just don't have the aging gene. I mean they joked on Torchwood that Captain John was "getting older" and " laugh lines" but I sure as hell don't see it.
Berengaria
Feb 4 2008, 05:19 AM
Well, I can see James' laugh lines, but they honestly just add a bit of character to his always handsome face. Must say, I didn't care for Jack's mean little remarks. But I think, in retrospect, that it is showing the opposite of what he says. I think he is tempted to run off with John but he desperately does not want to be. Hence the pushing him and pushing him away.
(Still, when your bf is a sociopath, it pays to remember that he has a short fuse. Still "immortality" and all that....no harm, no foul.
Vinity
Feb 4 2008, 05:30 AM
Yeah, NOW Captain John will think Jack is even MORE a perfect partner for him. He can loose his temper, kill him and Jack comes right back.

Then great makeup sex :OOPS

A match made in Heaven.....well, maybe not Heaven....but 2 little peas in a pod....perfect for each other....and maybe for Ianto as well.
Gosh,I don't know what's happened to me. I never used to be so pervy! Captain John is a bad influence on me!

Smallville
Four pre-strike episodes remain. Expected to shoot 5 or 6 additional episodes to air in April/May.
I don't know if this means more work for James...but maybe.

Feb 13 2008, 04:59 AM
Will he be finished with Dragonball by then? Boy, he's really gonna need a vacation after this year
Berengaria
Feb 13 2008, 04:46 PM
He should be finished in March. He said he'd be at the Paley thing in LA on March 20th. So, I don't really know what SV's shooting schedule will be. But usually when he works for them, he's just there for a few days....so maybe it'll work out.
And the same for Without a Trace...also shooting a few more new episodes for this season.
Vinity
Feb 13 2008, 05:00 PM
He was lucky to have so much to do while the strike was going on and to spend so much time outside LA
Berengaria
Feb 13 2008, 08:14 PM
He had his management call up and ask if he could be in Dr. Who...nothing available to him right then but that is what lead to the Torchwood role. And the same with the Smallville role (filmed in Vancouver)...he told Steve he thought this would be the last season and he thought he'd like to be in on that. He asked Steve to find out if they'd want him back and Steve said they had asked several times about James availability to them. So...luck or hard work? I think James makes his own luck by being smart and dedicated....and in down times, he knows he can count on his fans to attend his "fan events" . He's actually in a pretty nice place right now.
But yay for the strike being over! That's got to be good for everybody.
Vinity
Feb 14 2008, 12:52 AM
Well, between the Torchwood/Who verse and the Buffyverse fans he's certainly has a dedicated fan base. I really wish we were seeing more Captain John that just the two eps this year. The series has certainly improved 2 second season but nothing has come close to ep 1. This weeks ep showing in the UK looks to be some pay off from James' ep but I have to wait till it airs in the US

my puter is in the shop

Oh Noez!!!
Well, the good news is that James Barrowman was on the radio yesterday telling them that he was going to be doing a third season...so it's looking good for more James action eventually.
Vinity
Feb 14 2008, 06:43 PM
I didn't realize Barrowman was wavering

I had read an interview where he said he could see doing Captain Jack 5 years down the line......or, Jack can take a break and his good friend Captain John could stand in for him
Berengaria
Feb 14 2008, 09:23 PM
It might have been a contract renegotiating tactic...but he had been saying that he wasn't sure he'd be interested in doing a third season because of the way the production had been handled last year. It wasn't anything to do with his playing the character. He loves playing Cap'n Jack. But there were issues that went beyond JB to overall inefficiency and difficult working conditions.
I would imagine, given the great success of the second season that there will be more money available to the production and promises have been made. He seems all aboard with the idea now.

I've seen it now. It was good. Brainy was so reasonable in his first plea to Kara to come with him. As he said, if they'd just do it his way NO ONE would have to get hurt. Also, looking good wet.
Second scene with Lana, some lovely menace with chuckle.
Third scene, liked the American flag as a backdrop, And woo hoo! that Brainy sure knows how to make an exit. James must have enjoyed that flying stuff a lot.
May 1 is the next one that I know he'll be in. Can't wait.
Vinity
Mar 28 2008, 05:08 AM
So you guess Lana is dead?

I've only watched the show when JM was on but dang, that woman irrates the heck out of me
I liked the first part. He gets to give good face on that one but yet again, not enough James. I prefer guest roles like Captain John where he's in almost every scene
Berengaria
Mar 28 2008, 06:06 AM
Yeah, my guess is Miss Lang is on the way out.
I'm starting to wonder why James gets these menacing roles over and over again. He does them well but there is so much more to him. I'm starting to yearn for a nice romantic comedy which I think he'd be great in.
I guess I just want it all.
Vinity
Mar 30 2008, 10:48 PM
Your right. He should start a campaign for James to be in a romantic comedy

I'm really not a Superman fan of any kind so I never think about Smallville. I was going to DL them from itunes. Is there enough James to warrent it?
Berengaria
May 19 2008, 05:24 PM
If you are not a Smallville fan, as I am not, I would say "no". There's a couple of cute special effects things but they don't let James act and they don't give him much screen time.
Now, for anyone who does generally like the show, James' bits are interesting...and he goes out in a blaze of glory.

they should rename it James-con.....wait, I'm confusing Comic Con and Dragon con. JM isn't gonna be at Comic Con, right?
