D'Anna Biers made the connection to Kataris way back when and I've not let go of the thought since that time that there are other surprises awaiting us all in season four. Djinn and all the rest of the pantheon are apt to make an appearance.

Lucy Lawless Returns to 'Battlestar Galactica'
Monday, July 30, 2007
http://www.buddytv.com/articles/battlestar...attle-8815.aspx

"I'm coming back to cause some trouble," Lawless told the fans

Her behavior shocked her fellow Cylons who deemed her entire model as fundamentally flawed. She was "boxed" by the Brother Cavil model, having an effect that is the closest thing to death that the Cylons experience. She was last seen on the episode "Rapture."

Given this, many have become curious about why and how she comes back. Show creator Ronald Moore will soon have the answers for prying Battlestar Galactica fans but for now a few details about Lawless' return will have to do. According to Moore, D'Anna's return is slated for two or three episodes, which is expected to set in around episode 10.

"We will unbox her and spring D'Anna forth," Moore revealed to emphasize the idea that Cylons actually do have a plan and that D'Anna is part of it.

Kataris
http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Kataris

From Battlestar Wiki.
The name "Kataris" is probably a reference to the Roman poet Catullus.

I don't think so. I think it is an entirely different reference and has to do with being on the side of The Cylon God and one of the henchmen, so-to-speak. I think D'Anna Biers recognized Doc Cottle as her final act just before she was "Boxed" and I believe Natalie is gonna set her free and start a rebellion.

I'm still working on this theory.

Who Or What Is Kataris.?

Historical Background
The term djinn (also "jinn") refers to a race of supernatural creatures or spirits in both pre-Islamic Middle Eastern folklore and in Islamic Culture itself, singular djinni (or "jinn," "djinni," English "genie). Djinn are creatures of free will, said to be made of "smokeless fire" (the literal translation being “subtle fire”, i.e., a fire which does not give itself away through smoke), and live in communities much like humans. The word itself literally means anything which has the connotation of concealment, invisibility, seclusion, and remoteness.

They have an organized society and live in settlements like humans do (most often in the desert). They live, die, have religions, like humans. Djinni reside in many locations, including all over or in the Earth, or in the mountains of Qaf (a chain of mountains made from emerald which surround the Earth). Djinn are invisible to humans. Djinn can interbreed with humans, but all offspring will be djinn.

In Arabic mythology they occasionally engaged in destructive behavior, but were not considered wholly evil, nor wholly good. In Islamic folklore, they were thought to have been the first sentient (possessing free will) race created by Allah, created long before humans were created. They are generally viewed as evil, with some groups being considered more evil than others (e.g. the Shaitan). It was also believed the zauba’ah (a dust devil) was caused by the movement of a djinni. Djinn were thought to be vulnerable to metal (not any specific metal per se, just metallic objects in general), though some stories from Arabic folklore indicate Djinni (specifically the Ifrit) reside in cities made entirely of brass.

Lucy Lawless On "Battlestar Galactica," Goofing With Adam Sandler, And Always Being The Bad Girl
Huffington Post | Michelle Kung | March 30, 2008 10:03 AM

Battlestar Galactica spoiler seekers, take note: "I would lie before I gave something away," says Lucy Lawless, who will be reprising her role as the humanoid cylon (read: robot) D'Anna Biers in the sci-fi series' fourth and final season. "I'd make something really bogus up." Thanks for the heads up! Currently shooting the Adam Sandler comedy Bedtime Stories in Los Angeles, the 40-year-old Kiwi actress and cult star recently chatted with the Huffington Post about always playing the Big Bad, fooling around with Sandler's posse, and falling in line with the genius of Ron D. Moore.

QUOTE
HP: Did you always know your character -- who was "boxed" in season 2 -- was coming back?

LL: No, I didn't know. I would only come and go as needed and as I was available, so I never counted on anything in particular. But I'm really happy and grateful my character was returned so elegantly. That's Ron Moore as a writer for you. Everything has a great elegance to it.

There it is

D'Anna Biers makes her comeback in next weeks episode, "Hub".

I guess the djinn is part of the worm hole alien thing.

I have not seen the Cylons do anything magical that cant be explained by old fashion technology that could relate them to the mystical Djinn who cant be seen but are. How exactly does Kataris relate to the Djinn. If D'Anna is Kataris, I dont see any logical chain that can tying her into the unseen but are djinn. She does not do any I dream of Jeanie zapping?

Kataris probably has it roots in cat·a·ract (kăt'ə-răkt'). [Middle English cataracte, from Old French, from Latin cataracta, from Greek katarraktēs, kataraktēs, downrush, waterfall, portcullis, probably from katarassein, to dash down (kat-, kata-, cata- + arassein, to strike). Sense 3, from a comparison to a portcullis or other falling impediment or covering.]

My greek is not very good but Kataris probably translate into something like 'One who has fallen" or "fallen down". D'anna did fall and now she is rising again.
