OK I changed my mind. I stated a long time ago that I thought Ellen was a cylon and a LOT about her still fits. So I'm sticking to that till I'm proved wrong. Which the way it looks may not be until the second to last episode of it all.

I was resistant to it at first but I'm becoming more convinced that it's Gaeta. He's just too smart for his own good and can be manipulative when he wants to be (Baltars trial). However he's also too obvious which is a direction RDM never goes. I'm sure it'll be a wtf? moment when it's finally revealed.
t-Asarlai
I'm still sticking with Doc Cottle even tho I may express a theory every now and then that we still haven't seen the final four.

The crazy thing about this is that we are all going to be correct in our theory right up to the reveal.

Some of us won't believe it even then. That's why this poll has the title it does.

So, yeah, for me it is Still Doc Cottle and it is he whom D'Anna was apologizing to.

I believe it has been stated that this person has been with us since season one and possibly since the mini-series.? Maybe not as an actor but most definitely as a character. So, supposedly Boxey and Jolly and Prosna are qualified if they could be seen in Crossroads. Maybe whoever it is was a un-credited spectator in the Baltar Trial Gallery.

Zak Adama

#1 - Throws 3 major characters for a loop - and what a moment when he sees starbuck again for the first time

#2 - Unexpected - i think the shows writers want the final cylon to be somewhat shocking but also make all the main characters on the show ask the toughest questions of themselves.

The one thing that holds me back is when Deanna saw the final cylon and said "Oh its you, forgive me..." This just doesn't seem to fit that Zak would be anybody to say this about.

My only other vote would be for the big Admiral himself...what a twist...but seems unlikely now that Tigh has been revealed...

Welcome to the MB Forums, hanster

You've given some excellent reasons.
as for D'Anna ---> Zak:
this can be fixed with a back-story that allows for her to actually have been the one that caused his death.

I considered actually including three poll questions with 20 characters each ---> 60 people in all and would have included a couple of kids.

Write-in Candidates are welcome for discussion as well.

Zak Adama and Cally Tyrol are my two choices to replace Tigh and Tyrol as Cylons because it is my theory that the folks in the BSG Gym that heard the music should be balanced by the general make-up of the folks in the Opera House. Two Cylons + Two Humans + ????? = The Five

The link below will take you to an article on the SyFyPortal website, it appears the cast of BSG know who the final Cylon is, and the fans are not even close in their guesses

I don't recall anyone posting anywhere that it might be Major/Captain Kelly. He's been there since the very beginning

I did list him first up above.

Anyone else think the "Dark Horse" candidate is Kelly.?

And why do you think so.?

Long winded, so sorry...

I think Ron Moore knew from day one that his final Cylon surprise would be the emotional linchpin the show deserves. I could pick a hundred clues along the way to solidify my theory, but I will share the only clue that matters–and the only clue that proves it can’t be anyone but a being who has resided on Earth in the last fifty years:

“All Along the Watchtower”.

The musical trigger that reveals the “Four” in season three’s finale is the only intentional giveaway you need to acknowledge to draw an indisputable conclusion: Zak Adama is the final Cylon.

True, Moore said in an interview that Dylan doesn’t exist in the Battlestar universe, but he admitted the “idea” of Dylan existing to create verisimilitude with Earth–the one we all know and live on–does exist. No other character in the show would have any way of knowing this song unless he/she has LIVED ON EARTH recently.

Zak Adama is the only character in this show’s universe that could have been there (and still is there, I believe, drawing both races to him now), unless you make the rotten assumption that the final Cylon lives in the fleet, has been to Earth and knows the way there but just isn’t telling anyone. That is as lame as it gets. I think Moore and crew knew this all along.

Dying leader? Zak is likely president of the U.S or holds some other high office of power on Earth. And this will be the twist: Earth is not the salvation for the wandering humans and Cylons, the wanderers will be the salvation for Earth. Zak is not dying in the way Roslin is dying, ala some disease or injury. He's dying because Earth is dying along with all its inhabitants. In a recent interview with Olmos, who now knows the final Cylon (as well as the rest of the story), he states that "it isn't a happy ending. We end up with almost nothing." Earth may be doomed and the few survivors pack onto a fleeing Battlestar as the planet explodes or something, but Zak will reunite with his father, his brother, the love of his life (Kara) and all of his "children" (the surviving Cylons).

The Hybrid's message to Kara: "You are the harbinger of doom, Kara Thrace..." This only means that the Hybrid knows on some level that Earth is going to end and that by seeking Earth, the entire fleet and the remaining Cylons will die, too. This is a warning NOT to go to Earth, since the Hybrid knows death will likely follow for most of them.

The “Forgive me…I didn’t know” line from #3? She was the Cylon who ordered the kill on Zak when his ship failed in the days before the war, something Zak intended to have happen. We’ll learn this in the next couple of episodes and see it in flashback. I love this because it ties back to the very first episode of the original series AND fits beautifully with the current story. A Cylon would only say "forgive me" if he/she killed the Cylon once before. Nobody else on the show worth anything has "died" up to this point, and certainly not at the hands of D'Anna.

The Leobin line of “The final Cylon is Adama.” Not a lie. He just doesn’t know it is Zak and probably believes it to be Lee or Bill. Leobin doesn't lie, at least not in a blatent way like this...it would be terrible storytelling.

Starbuck’s visions? Do we really think she’s supernatural? No, Zak just transferred knowledge to her somehow when they were together. Kara is Zak's assurance that the survivors will find Earth before it is destroyed.

And finally, and this is the most important reason why it has to be Zak–there is NO emotional resonance with ANY other character. Will anyone CARE if it is Dualla? Really? Or Tom? Or Gaeta? Cally? Come on, who really would care in their guts and hearts if it is one of these minor characters who aren’t deeply tied to our main characters? Maybe Billy would achieve some emotional charge, but not even a sliver of what we’d get with Zak. Do you love Zak? No. Of course not. But you love the people who loved him. The emotional centers of the show are and always have been Bill Adama, Lee Adama and Starbuck, (ok, and Roslin, but now that she and Bill are in love...)

Only Zak will bring the emotions of the show to the peak it deserves. I think this is right and true from the emotional and logical angles. It all fits and nothing is cheated.

Now if only I can prove that Rick Springfield (the original Zak from the 1970s show) once covered Dylan’s tune at one of his concerts, the circle of proof would be complete…

After the information given in Revelation is processed, people will start (assuming the guidance the Three gives is true) to narrow the candidates down significantly.

So if the FIFTH and final cylon was NOT in their fleet can we assume that it very well could be one of the humans that were on the Basestar with the cylons at that time? Like Helo or Baltar? Since it pretty much rules out anyone in all the human fleet....but obviously the Basestar isn't in the human fleet.

Just a first thought in the space and time of the 2nd hiatus from hell!

IDK

Supposedly it has to be someone that was in the first season and was also in Crossroads and is supposedly NOT in The Last Supper picture.

yeah .... 2nd Hiatus From Hell ... all this has happened before ....

Theres only one thing I see wrong with this-the cylon ships WON'T fire on cylons. Think about Anders incident, where he faces a cylon ship. It looks him dead in the eye and then turns and goes away. I totally see your theory, with the thought of needing a huge, emotional impact to make a point.

According to a post on Galactica Sitrep, from the Spoilers Geeks blog an exec at SciFi Channel, Mark Stern says that the final reveal of the final cylon will be "very organic and satisfying, and not some day player from Season 1"

Let's not forget that "Adama" literally means "Earth" in Hebrew ( so i am told ) and the lines spoken by Leoben to Kara are:

"You will find Kobol, birthplace of us all." and ... "Kobol will lead you to, Earth" quite possibly and literally meaning Zak "Earth" Adama.

Kara didn't find Kobol ...

I've been a huge BSG fan from the beginning and I honestly have no idea who the final Cylon might be. I'm excited to find out though. I also want to find out all the other secrets too. I love this show and will be sorry to see it go.

We now know who the 'final' Cylon is. It's a pity that she's dead. We won't see her again unless the writers bring her back to life. shock.gif

Not necessarily true.

Starbuck came back to life and her Viper is lying there on Earth in a field. The final five were resurrected some how in the first place so there has to be some sort of re-animation thing going on somewhere. Quite possibly with in a local area and maybe with the ability to reach the other Cylon Ressurection ships.

D'Anna said "The four in the fleet" meaning she knew the fifth wasn't there. Maybe she accessed the water on the Hub Ship and found out the location of Ellen Tigh and armed with that knowledge is still holding out.

For Sure, Ellen appers to be coming back in upcoming episodes ....

Back from the dead for Season 4, Vernon's Ellen Tigh is indeed among the warring dirty dozen.

"This is one for the ages, the best experience of my life," Vernon said. "The writers fell in love with Ellen. The bad girls are the best. Wait until you see what Ellen gets into next. I just have to be sure I don't say the wrong thing about the nine episodes that are left. But I'm pretty good at keeping secrets."
