apologize for this post, but am afraid that someone will take my last post out of context(assuming that I am inferring that someone's life style is 'sick')..this can not be further form the truth!!)) was merely echoing KARA'S sentiments(if you remember, I had stated months ago that I was very much surprised at how Americanized Kara was in her expressions)..this is another case in point)) we Americans use words like 'sick' and 'degusting' (remember Ian's comment after ROA?) as mere "exclamations", many times without considerating the real connotations of the of the word - such is the case here)) ...do these people write these captions for 'shock-effect'??)) all I know is that such blanket, callous and, at times, very derogatory comments without considering the subject's sensibilities is, well...'sick'
Selkie
Don't worry, Robbie, we all got that. smile.gif

OT, but I got your email in my laptop, Robbie. Will post the pic for you soon. smile.gif

OT:: Thanks so much LADY-S, for posting this pic! (it is such an unique area, I wanted the fans to see it - remember that the CUP is here in 2010) thanks TALLI, but to truly appreciate this place you really need to experience it)) lower left are the piers for commercial ships, if you follow the breakwater(lower center of pic-looks like a strait line) inward(towards land) you will notice what looks like a red building(passenger ships dock in this area) and a little further inland is a small body of water(New Basin) which appears to have an amphitheater behind it(has be dirt-don't know when this pic was taken?) what you are looking at is the yacht harbor behind the old Grace hotel)))this 'amphitheater' is now two rows of condos with a canal seperating them)) Ian's was on the extreme right-two hundred feet from the aquarium)) - let me say that I will probably never walk in such luxury again in my life!! these condos are mutli million Euros -many of the walls are glass and slide fully open-so you can look down on the yachts and seals(big seals).. that old Grace hotel starts at 800(US) per/day..and is but a very short walk to the old Victoria & Albert wharf(one heck of a German beer garden) which is said to compare to Frisco's Fisherman's Wharf and London's Soho....believe me, if you are a tourist, this is the place to be!! {I was at the right place at the right time grin.gif }
loreal971
wow Robbie,it seems to be a wonderful place!it looks like my island but I'm sure that the way of life is different!!
I have to go there one day!soon I hope!
old-man
OT:: LOREAL, you are correct - it is not the Caribbean!! and you will not be dipping your 'tooties'(toes) in that water....it is darn cold!! smile.gif

no time for telling fibs, girls!!(smiles)) man, that wind was wipping(check how bloused my shirt and pants are -thought we were going hiking, so dressed accordingly)...not exactly warm either!) you know when you are here, that this is not just another scenic place..it really grabs you!!)) last few miles here are through a natural preserve- truly natural (baboons, ostriches and what ever else we didn't see?) we left at sunset and Ian got some really nice pics of a large group of ostriches who were crossing the road and feeding-males are black and striking-most came within a few feet of us) seems like every time I have a pic made, the wind is wipping my 'dead-ends'! hey, makes me look like I have hair in front again smile.gif see if you can spot the one(person) who has the most hard miles smile.gif ))) again a Big thanks to LADY-S for posting these-hope to get some more of Ian(?)

a little OT, but decided to keep with this S. African picture theme one last time - you people are getting first hand insider info(smiles))) will give a link to HOUT BAY(wood bay--guess Dutch?) this is where most of the non-set(tank) diving took place--place is absolutely gorgeous!!) though, looks like some scenes were shot at the commercial(cargo) ship docks in Cape Town))..it might look tropical -it's not!..even though CT has one of the world's finest botanical gardens)) making this post so that you will know that this business(acting), really does have it's bright moments!! grin.gif http://www.southafrica-travel.net/westcape/cape_houtbay.htm
Ratty
you can tell where Ian got his good looks from
Faran
Thanks for sharing the gorgeous pix old-man. Looks like a beautiful place and your description of the route there enhances that.

The notice on the fence reminds me of when Sceve and I went down to Key West and took pix at the southern most point of the US as was proclaimed on a large "buoy" type thingie.

these were shot last Sat in the San Bernardino Mts - guessing San Bern national forest?)) about 65miles from LA..and a hard/fast 2-hour hike to the river!!)) forget how close this is to LA, this is really secluded country(possibly because the average person wouldn't even considering this hike)..and lots of mountain lions--would be a bad place(if one were alone?) to slip and break a leg not to mention the nights are very cold(pretty high elevaton..this little baby starts at over 9,000ft)) this is one rocky and hard to fish place..Ian said you have to crawl up to the fising hole in order not to scare away the fish)...title on the eMail with the one where he standing mid creek is:"hoping this rock isn't slippery"
old-man
M, looks better on you!! hey, I wore that hat at, I believe, Treasure Bay(?)-about an hour from LA- up the PCH(Pacific coast hiway)..think it is from "COCO" Polo? smile.gif
MajaBee
Also note the lovely Hawaiian turtle mine has... lol.gif

I got mine from my friend Lynn who lives in Hawaii... she knew about Ian and the hat and gave it to me on one of our last days in Hawaii. Wish I'd had it when we climbed Diamond Head... sunburn on your scalp is NOT pretty! LOL!

Colour me dense, but what's he doing with that long green pole in the water? I know, Robbie, you mention fishing in your post, but that doesn't really look like a fishing rod - unless he's trying to spear or maybe net them??

I just gotta comment on the plethora of new pix this morning - what a fantastic way to start the day!
Ratty
I havent been fishing since my folks lived in Crystal Park, just had to get their before the bears did and run when the showed up.
old-man
FARAN, he and a buddy were "fly-fishing" for 'brownies'(brown trout)--very cautious by nature, probably more so under these conditions!))) fly fishing out west is most commonly done by wadding in a creek or river(heck, out west they call every thing a river smile.gif ) notice a black tube sticking above his back in the (mid stream-pix)..that is a fly-rod back packers kit)) rod is in sections, guessiing 8-1/2ft when assembled)) agree the green line looks almost as big as the rod(believe me only an allusion-rod is far larger in diamenter)) in fly fishing you cast the line and not the lure(fly/bug)))fly line is about 33yds long with 20ft or so of very fine, clear leader on the end hoping to fool the fish--what was that Redford movie-"PERFECT DRIFT" or something like that?..which means the proper presentation of the fly to the water)))...RATTY, it been years since you were in Crystal Park?
Ratty
its been close to 15 years, my folks where caretakers up their at that time. think its time to go vist some freinds up their.
but that will have to wait I have to go have imgament fix monday in other words I'm going up the knife but I get to watch
old-man
RATTY, good luck Monday!!)) FARAN, -that movie is A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT..knew it had a lot to do with fly fishing--see where Pitt was in it))___________owe you one MAJA!--got to thinking, he did have that hat when he was on LOST...must have had little "COCO" on my mind(smiles)
Faran
QUOTE

Thanks for the clarification Robbie, the picture certainly was confusing. I've never seen this kind of fly fishing before - only the type you mention where the "caster" stands in the stream and the rod doesn't go in the water.

I don't blame you. Who wouldn't have Coco on their mind? wink.gif No the pic of Ian with the hat is definitely from filming Lost (season 1). I believe one of the journalists around him is working for ProSieben, the same ProSieben that now co-produced Lost City Raiders.

Or I think that's her there... the one in the pink shirt.

The pics were originally published on the Pro7 website.

the two in your above post do look like FRAWLINES.....blond and 'healthy'!!! smile.gif
Ratty
I would like to use one of the photo's of Ian fishing for next week calendar if thats ok
old-man
RATTY, of course you can use 'the' picture!!(esp after all the time and entertaining work you have done on Ian's behalf - am including all who have done like-wise!! - (sweet of you to ask) the fishing pixs do not come under the "internet caution")) with the exception of "children pixs" any pixs ( LADY-S is kind enough to post) here are for all Ian fan sites--MB is where I do the updates!
MajaBee
kiss.gif Thanx Robbie!!

(And thanx to Ratty for asking! hug.gif )

Sometimes I don’t understand at all about what you are talking. Can somebody explain me, what I should do to use on my site photos from Africa, fishing and Robyn’s house and nobody has taken offence smile.gif
old-man
ANTHON, the African and fishing pixs were posted(thanks to LADY-S) so that they could be enjoyed and used(if so desired--fansites, forums,..etc) by all Ian fans)) certainly, one such as you(who has given so much of your personal time supporting Ian here an at your excellent site) would most deffinetely fall into this catagoery--same for Maja, Ratty, and other sites(to different degrees) on the web)) it is/was my intent(hope) that the children pixs(excluding of the ones with Ian-since these give a little view(window) into his normal life) were to remain exculisevly on MB!...please feel free to use the pictures you are inquiring about....
