Hey, Tek, Cat and Lori...I'm working as an "extra" tomorrow in an independent film being shot in JAX currently. It's called "Running Through Fires". Not sure what its about yet but I'm going to be a "wedding guest".

Thanks for you b'day wishes, Lori & Cat. I was taken out to dinner and went shopping for clothes for my nephew's wedding. It was a nice day.

Berry, how very that you're going to be an extra again. I hope the wedding scene has real food and that you are fed well. ITA Lori's request. I want details, too.

Tek, you said you were busy this weekend but you mention it was your b-day.


Cleaned my girls bedroom this weekend it took a total of approximately 10 hours we packed old toys and found a present Vada (ferret) left behind, eew. It looks wonderful now, but anyone want to make a bet how long that will last.

Lori great title, it sure is in LA lately. And we stupidly went to a Dodger game at 1pm luckily we were sitting under shade and the concention stands had complimentary water. It was hot but we went alone and we left the girls at home with the air conditioner.

OMG! We missed Tek's Birthday??!! Shame on us. Tek!!

Well the cruise ended up being a bust...the ship's A/C was not working right so they cut our time in half. But it was beautiful out on the ocean. We did not get the storms we thought we would get and the breeze was so nice. We sat out on the deck most of the time. So we hardly gambled, which overall is good. We came back and ate at Denny's instead.

OMG! George Carlin died today. He was 71. I can't believe it.
Speaking of the musical Hair, he first came onto my radar when he was the "hippy dippy weatherman" on the Smothers Brothers Show which was on around the same time as Hair and shared the same comic sensibilities as George Carlin.

On a happier note....

Berry, WB, Vicki & Di, thanks for all of your wishes. ....I’m considering subtracting years on my next birthday. Berry, Eeyore (sp?) is so cute….

BTW, Vicki, Lori’s birthday is June 29.

WB, sorry to read that your cruise wasn’t quite what you had expected, but it sounds like you had a nice time anyway.

Who was it that said it was odd seeing someone they know in Doctor Who? It made me chuckle - almost every main guest actor in Doctor Who is well known in the UK Even some of the background parts are well-known people. It's a positive actor fan-fest

I'm jealous of all this talk of heat waves! We've had sun here, but mixed with rain. It rained all day Saturday The sun did come out again on Sunday - but accompanied with gale force winds that blew branches off trees, and rearranged my garden somewhat! Today is nice and sunny again though... just in time for me to spend the day in a windowless room again

Had a bad weekend with Pip She was let down, again, by her cousins. Once again they told her they'd come and play, only to change their minds and not come Poor Pip, she gets so excited at having someone to play with, and then so upset when they don't come. It's not that she's lonely - it's the rejection she feels that is painful Literally, for me, sometimes But I've got good at ducking flying missiles sent in anger At least the dog stayed put and tolerated life-extinguishing hugs And we had fun making burgars and chocolate biscuits to eat

Michael is volunteering at a children's camp at the Children's Museum today. I actually have the house to myself. It weird, with him being home all the time I'm never alone in the house.

Who asked about the piano? DV plays, that is why his Grand Mother gave him the piano. I hope he'll play it. We have a upright but he never plays that one.

Spook, I know almost no British actors, so it's sort of funny for me when I go on the DW boards and everyone's talking about this or that actor, because I have no idea what they're talking about. It's actually good, because while everyone else has expectations based on the actor's previous roles, I have no expectations. DW is the only British show I watch (other than the ones we stole from you- which actually helped in Bad Wolf, since I actually got all the references).

OTOs having a heatwave... I hope your temps and humidity drop soon... It's usually like that here in July and August. Sooo not looking forward to it!

Spook my youngest son has a friend that quite often plans to come over and doesn't show up... We finally figured out that it was his mom using not coming over as a punishment... So whenever that kid plans a visit, we remind our son of that and he doesn't get as upset.

I had a nice weekend of not having to be anywhere! Did a little cleaning and spent some time at my parents.

Spook, I was the one who was so excited to see a familiar face on DW. Insteresting that so many of the actors on that show are well known British actors. I’m pretty good at recognizing American actors (even minor ones) on shows, but not so with British actors. ....Pip is so fortunate to have you to help her manage her anger. And a big to her thoughtless and mean cousins. ...Aren’t pets the best for making us feel better? Hugging a dog or cat can sure make a person feel better. ....I’d be happy to trade some of our way-too-hot days with more the temperate ones you are having.

GH, I hope your temps start heading downward. If it’s this hot for us in June, I hate to think what August and September will bring.

Watcher I saw 'Narnia: Prince Caspian' today. I have issues with 2 parts (not big issues), but I haven't read the books. I may need to ask questions.

Prince Caspian is better than Lion Witch and Wardrobe in the books. I never saw the first movie. I have the DVD but have never opened it.

The only one I 'did' read was 'Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe'
But it was ages ago, so my memory wasn't great. And I have seen the different incarnations of the movie.
I'll ask my questions about the movie:
I know it was a childrens book, but was there more with the relationship with Caspian and Susan? And how did Susan and Peter know they wouldn't be returning to Narnia? What made them know that? So much is lost from book to movie. I feel the same way about the HP series. I love it, but feel so much is left out of the movies due to time that explains things in the story.

Lori, The Caspian/Susan romance was not in the books. In fact, in the book, he was much younger. I really loved the first movie, and it was a really close adaptation to the book. Prince Caspian was pretty different from the book, but I liked it anyway.

vilandragirl thanks for the reply to my questions. It makes sense now how it was handled in the movie.

Vin, I haven't read the Narnia books either... I did read Stuart Little and Charlotte's Web (for a kiddie lit course I took in college).

I haven't seen the movie yet (it hasn't premiered here yet). To answer one of your questions, in the books it was clear that:
Aslan told Peter and Susan that they couldn't return to Narnia. If memory serves me correctly, because they would be too old to return. Guess that piece of information is left out in the movie?

I doubt I'll ever see the Prince Caspian film Pip was wanting to go - because all her friends are going - but then changed her mind when I told her it followed from the Lion, With and the Wardrobe film She doesn't like that film - it's too scary for her

Maybe we'll just read the books together instead! From reading the spoiler font things here, I think I'll prefer the books...

Is Firefox 3 still in Beta? I know dowloading to version 3 was mentioned on the thread while I was away, so I never got around to doing it then. I've been using Firefox for quite some time now, and love it. Guess I must upgrade.

Oh the Casino Cruise is free to go on. You only pay for gambling or if you buy food or drinks, but as long as you are gambling, you can eat and drink for free too. So we only lost the little tiny bit of money we gambled before we went into port.

Vin - thanks for letting me know. I'll go hunt for a download link. ETA: I just did. Looks a bit fancier, with some nifty new additions. I think I will like the handy way links are displayed in the address bar when I type an address. Something that (I hope I get used to it, or find a way to turn it off) bugs me a bit is the spell checker. Since I have the Swedish version installed, it keeps underlining lots of words here as spelled incorrectly Not that I'm sure I always type correctly in English. But seeing some words I know for sure are correct with red underlines makes me

I love the spell checker. I have a tendency to to switch vowel letters around. plus, I just spell like crap.

Berry, the production company you’re working for really has their act together – they even have a web site with candids from the filming. Smart.

Spook, reading the Narnia books with Pip is a great idea. She’ll enjoy them, certainly improve her reading skills and won’t be scared as she might be seeing the movies. Somehow, one’s own imagination of scary scenes can be a lot less scary than what film makers evision. I learned that first hand when I saw The Exorcist.

Vin, Spook & Maxi, I’ll let you be my “beta testers” for the new version of Firefox. …Is Firefox 3 for Macs as well as PCs?

Maxi The movie doesn't show why Peter and Susan weren't returning. Peter just made the announcement to everyone that he and Susan wouldn't be returning. I found it quite sad.

I downloaded and installed Firefox 3 on two computers on the release day. It seems to work ok. Not too much really different to get used to.
Here is a link to the download page for other languages and computers. They have Mac and Linux available.

I’m going to be scarce around here the next week or so. My nephew is getting married and I’m off to Minnesota to help share the happy occasion with my family. I hope I’ll be able to get my paws on a computer to at least post a or two.

Yes,the extras all wore our own clothes. Everyone did,I think, except the bride.

My dress is what I wore to my nephew's wedding, so at least I knew it should seem authentic. Hope you have fun at your nephew's wedding.

You can turn the spellchecker off in the preferences - it's quite easy to find. Although I left it on, for now. I might turn it off eventually though - it seems to be American

The only thing I'm finding hard to get used to are the different fonts that show up everywhere now - everything is smaller on all the message boards I visit! I've found where I can change this, but decided to just try and get used to it instead.



I'm slowly indoctrinating Pip into the world of Sci Fi and Fantasy this way She can't see the films or TV programmes because they upset her. I can't get her past the first 5 minutes of Star Wars and she refuses to try Farscape at the moment. Other films I've tried her with have also proved too scary... so, I turned to books! I have a huge library of books I like to read - and so she gets these as her bedtime story I thought she'd find them boring at first - they aren't aimed at children, after all (apart from Harry Potter), but she's loving them! So she's had some Raymond E Feist (Magician), and I'm working my way through my Tad Williams "Memory, Sorrow and Thorn" trilogy at the moment. It does get a bit tricky at the (very mild) sex bits. And she doesn't like the swearing... (also very mild). But she loves the stories! I'll read through the Lion Witch and Wardrobe box-set I have next, I think...

Spook - try the Lloyd Alexander stories for Pip too, perhaps? The Chronicles of Prydain books are the ones that stood out the most for me. (Book of Three being the first, but perhaps you are familiar with them already).

Oh, thank you. It's turned off now. Though, I know I need it. And I hate misspelling. But however I turn, it'll be annoying me too much having it off. If I have a Swedish version of Firefox installed, with a Swedish spell checker I'll be annoyed whenever I visit any non-Swedish sites. And I do that pretty much daily... Same goes if I were to use an English version, because it would be bug me even more if I were to be promted about misspellings in Swedish (which I do much less of than when writing in English). Having the Swedish version, with Swedish menus is what I want though. And now the spell checker has gone :poof:

I always liked Firefox, since the first time I installed it a couple of years ago.
