Gooder and CAT I saw 'The Mummy' movie today. I have mixed feelings about it.
I liked the scenery, some of the story about Shang-ri-la and the love story with Ming and the witch were good. Jonathan had some good lines. I liked the beginning of the movie too. But didn't like Maria Bello as 'Evelyn' at all. And I didn't like that they aged the son 'Alex' that much. I kept thinking that Luke Ford looked a bit like Brad Pit. I think I liked the first two better, but this was okay. Maybe it needs to grow on me.

Still didn't buy paint. It was too hot to buy it early and leave it in the car, and way too hot after to go looking. I'll go after Church tomorrow. I still need to work on the curtains too

Sis bought me really great brown T-strap heels today! Very retro! I was wearing flats yesterday and they kept falling off my feet! So frustrating! I didn't used to be a shoe girl but I think I'm becoming one!

Tek,you keep mentioning Comic Con for next year but did you know that there is some talk (an article in Variety) about moving it to Las Vegas. They seem to feel it has out-grown it's present venue.Guess we'll all have to keep an eye on developments.

It HAS outgrown it's current location! San Diego is beautiful, but they aren't doing well by the fans by using the small venue there. I'm going by my last year there and reports from Tek and Vicki.

Is it bad that even pup is howling at 'Dragon Wars'?
I do love Jason and most of his movies, but on this one. I really hate that this one is so bad, because I love dragons and the story had possibilities they didn't work with.

Berry, I feel Comic Con has outgrown the San Diego location too, but I spoke with someone who said that they are contracted to hold it there for the next few years. I hadn’t heard about moving the Con to Las Vegas, but I had heard some talk about moving it to Los Angeles; we have a bigger convention center than San Diego. But, until I read otherwise, I guess the 2009 Con will be held in San Diego.

It's about 8 minutes into it.

Hmmm.... it must be a Roswell week, Brendan in Biker Boyz, Jason in D Wars, and just over a week ago, Shiri inFear Itself.

Speaking of D Wars... My onscreen cable TV Guide gives Dragon Wars 2 stars out of 4 (boy, were they in a generous mood)... and describes the movie "When swarms of fire-breathing dragons attack modern-day Los Angeles, a TV reporter finds himself thrust into the center of a battle against the flying creatures. Jason Behr starts in this effect-filled sci-fi extravaganza. ....Extravaganza????

Shoot 'Em Up starring Clive Owen is on later. That's a much better - and funnier movie - than D Wars.

Finally back from the lake. We left at 7am and just got home at 8pm. I am soooo wiped out. Gotta run!

We just got home... Haven't unpacked a thing... All our bags have TSA stickers on them... I expected that because they are all 'heavy' for their size and contain 'metal' rocks! ... We had a good time... Pics and highlights later this week... Maybe... It seems I have a lot more to do than before I left.

Tek, you were right to think Comic Con will stay in San Diego for the next few years. here's an excerpt from the Variety article:

as the event has exploded in popularity over the past decade, organizers have found it increasingly hard to ignore the logistical limitations presented by wrangling more than 125,000 attendees into the San Diego Convention Center, where the show is booked through 2012. From fire-code violations to body-odor issues, overcrowding is the complaint on everybody's lips.

"We can't accommodate the people we need to," laments Comic-Con marketing director David Glanzer. "(This year) we had a wait list of exhibitors in excess of 300. We sold out before the doors even opened."

Selling out may be a positive thing in the entertainment industry, but not for a mixed trade show and fan event like this. Between attendance caps and lack of space, the event's board is faced with flat revenue while operating costs continue to increase. According to Glanzer, raising booth and ticket prices would be a last resort. Instead, he says, "We are trying to creatively enhance revenue, and one of those ways is to sell sponsorship signage, something we have done on a very limited basis in the past."

That means Comic-Con may have to embrace the marketing mayhem that became a fixture of E3 before it downsized a year ago. So, even with the convention locked into San Diego for the next four years, cities such as Las Vegas and Los Angeles are actively trying to lure Comic-Con away.

Lori, my onscreen TV Guide gave D Wars two stars, but it only gave Biker Boyz one star. ....Either the person who writes the review synopses isn't very discerning or he/she is a biased Jason fan.

The title of this new thread has another meaning for me - we've just come back from picking up our big son (son#1) from Uni - home for the summer - he is also moving house for next year so he was bringing home everything. Do you need a suitcase I asked - no, he replied I've got everything packed This turned out to be about one dozen very large plastic bin liners filled with all his clothes - most of which do not appear to have been washed for an entire year His whites are actually yellow and brown He even admitted that his clothes were so dirty that the local laundry and dry cleaners refused to take them I now have the bath and every basin in the house full of his clothes trying to soak them to loosen the dirt before washing At least his new house has a washing machine in it - but then I think his last one did too.

Well I'm so longing for some of the shows to come back. seems like thishas been quiet a long summer.I even re-watched "Lost" ,form last season, gosh it was good eh. I honestly thought that show was going to be"lost" literely!! it was doing so bad at times eh.

( I blame that on my ADHD really though... )

Lori, How have you been?? I saw "The Dark Knight" last night, I thought it was "ok", but not like the "greatest movie of all times at least through this summer". My brother is a "huge" fan of batman, so naturally he loved it more than me.
I actually enjoyed the "IronMan" more.
I have no idea what other movie I'll be seeing next, I saw "StepBrothers" 2 x now.

As for me and mornings…. You can check with Vicki, my last roomie, but I don't think I’m grumpy or cheery in the morning – I’m just numb. I need about ½ hour in bed before I am awake enough to get out of bed without hurting myself.

Tek, this is true- I was warned. It was cool to see Jason in a movie though. There was even one scene where I saw a little Max. He did his "sideways look" that he does as Max when he's feeling a little unsure.

Tek, interesting article about the 6 degrees of separation. I read an article in grad school where someone had calculated how connected Kevin Bacon actually is. Then he calculated every other actor in Hollywood. It turns out that he ranks 669th, and averages being separated by every other actor by 2.83 degrees. OK, I'm all for research, but perhaps some people have too much time on their hands?

So I get out of the shower and find hubby watching DWar. He says, "I want to tape this movie so I can watch it later because you have a Comic-con show coming on that you are taping"! I fessed up that we owned the DWar DVD and he could watch it anytime. He said "Oh we haven't watched that DVD, cool!" I should have known it would be a movie he likes. He enjoys Sci-fi BAD movies.

Tek: You did just find in the morning, but I am sure it's because we all felt the same.

VG, I think we all love seeing Jason on the big screen, the small screen, heck, any screen. I just wish he would make better choices in the roles he accepts. ☹

I bought paint for the hideous pink wall. It's not as dark as I thought it would be, but maybe on the wall it will be. I'll paint on Thursday or Friday.

I used to date a guy who was a morning person. It was kind of annoying to wake up to someone so perky, but he always got up and brushed his teeth before I woke up, and that was nice.

I watched The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. It was surprisingly good. I will probably see the 2nd one.

I rammed my pinkie toe into the coffee table AGAIN! I've done this to the same little toe 3 other times and broken the same toe twice. You would think I don't like that little toe or something.

Go to their website if you think you need to catch up. The AMC site did a good job with the character synops to tell you what is going on.

Hubby liked DWar and told me it wasn't as bad as we made it out to be. He even wants to rewatch it on DVD!

Lori, I just read your post about AMC airing Mad Men, unfortunately, I read it a bit late. Thanks for the heads up on checking AMC’s web site for info on the show. I see AMC is rerunning Breaking Bad, too. I watched that show for its first season – it’s good. .... for your owwie... Your poor baby toe.

Lori, you’re right, Meghann has been noticeably MIA lately. So has WB. Is she swamped with work or something? .....I am still perplexed by D Wars getting 2 stars and Biker Boys only getting 1 star.

I saw Brideshead Revisited today. If anyone remembers the BBC/Masterpiece Theater version, this movie will be a disappointment. The movie is OK, but the BBC series was really, really great. Plus, it had Jeremy Irons in it....

Tek you're right about the digital/analog TV. No problem unless you use an antenna to watch over-the-air channels. You don't really need the camera software to use your camera on the 'puter. Most of it isn't very good anyway. On most cameras, you can just plug in the camera into the computer and it will be recognized as an external hard drive and not a camera. Then you just drag and drop the pics into whatever folder you want to save them into.

Only 105 degrees here today. Just as I was heading out to mow the grass. We're having a record setting year for heat. We need rain.

Truck is in the shop, pray they'll replace the worn ball joint. They keep saying it's not worn enough for the warranty to replace Grrr! It's ruined the tire I'll have to replace it way early cause it's warn unevenly.

Then the electrician came out to try to find out why the barn more than double in electric last month Then the blacksmith came, and then I had to talk twice with the guy who is supposed to fix the garage door which won't open. I'm sweaty and stinky and I didn't even get to ride
