www.gamefaqs.com has all the consoles and the PC. Just find the game and pick which console or PC you want and it'll show the cheat codes, walkthroughs and other faqs for the game. I love that site.

The Sims:

money: rosebud
move objects (in buy mode): move_objects on - This can be used to 'delete' your Sim, which maxes out all their needs.

The Sims 2:

money: kaching ($1000) or: motherlode ($50000)

The move objects cheat also works in the Sims 2, but don't use it on your Sim because it will permanently delete them!
