What I mean by this is a novel that you read as a class meaning everyone in the class read it. I know they do this around here.
I must say I really enjoyed reading
Cue For Treason and
The Outsiders in Grade 9. Though I think I liked Cue For Treason better for some reason.

I thought Popcorn by Ben Ellton wasn't bad at all! ...
oh and ...
De Dochter - surprisingly good
De Grot - I had to read it several times for class, but I'm not tired of ... I could read it again.
About a Boy - not the greatest book, but nice
De Passievrucht - too bad I already knew how it would end. lmao.
And I was also glad we had to read Le Petit Prince and Le Petit Nicolas for French class.

My class are reading 'Northan Lights' by Philip Pullman right now. I'm half way through and it's really good. I started reading it a couple of years back and didn't find it very interesting but now because I'm doing it in school I have to read it.

Well I love reading so I enjoyed most of the books we had to read.
The ones I enjoyed the most was
To Kill a Mockingbird which I read when I was a freshman.
The Great Gatsby when I was a junior and
Night by Eli Weisel. Night was such an amazing story, although it was on the short side that book has stayed fresh in my mind after all these years. Very touching book that I doubt I will ever forget.

I loved when we read The Lion, the Witch, and The Wardrobe when I was in 5th Grade. When I was in high school I read the book The Handmaid's Tale for my World History class but I was the only one that read it, I had to do a presentation on it, it was an interesting take on the future. I also really enjoyed reading Romeo & Juliet for my British Lit class my senior year of high school, but again I was the only one that read it.

I enjoyed reading and analyzing The Scarlett Letter in high school. I could not read that book again just for pleasure though. Another one was the F. Scott Fitzgerald book. I can't remember the name of it. I liked analyzing it. The one book that I read in high school that I actually do reread now is The Awakening by Kate Chopin. I love that book.

I loved
The catcher in the rye.
I think the edgy way the main character explains his view of the world can somehow relate to any teenager in one way or another. It is genius!
I also loved anything by Shakespeare and pretty much any written word...
Happy new year everyone!

In 10th grade we had to read a book called
Go Ask Alice by an Anonymous author. It was so good. It is about a high school girl who left school and started living on the streets, then became a drug addict. Actually, this thread reminded me of it, and I just ordered it on Amazon. I think about this book often, so I am glad that I came here and was inspired to order it!

Oh Sweet Jesus!! Did someone say Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh!?!?

I'd say the same about "Mandragora" or "Fly Away Peter"!
My fave would have to be Shakespeare's
King Lear. Though I don't know if I ever fully enjoyed a school book.. too much dissecting and analysing! It rips it to shreds, sometimes.

Flowers for Algernon was terrific. I also loved To Kill a Mockingbird because of the lesson it taught (cheesy reasoning, I know...but I still liked it). I also really enjoyed The Scarlet Letter. Twisted things like that make my day! The Odyssey was awesome once I knew what the world was going on and Crime and Punishment was an eye opener. And The Great Gatsby! I thought Nick was terrific. I can't believe I almost forgot that book.
