ITA . I can see Izzie's illness slowly being revealed next month, and we are in full swing of her treatment in Feburary . At least that is what I'm hoping happens lol.

The other guy is death row inmate William who is played by the ever so talented Eric Stoltz. One of my favorite actors . Eric Stoltz also directed two episodes of Grey's Anatomy this season. Stoltz's storyline sounds neat, and I love how it intertwines with everyone else's storyline.

No prob . The sneak peeks should come out during the next two weeks sometime.

Never know . They are releasing news about Izzie's storyline piece by piece. Just enough to give us something, but in such a small amount where we are still hanging in mystery. Just keep an eye on the GA spoiler thread for updates when we do get any more news .

They may also be under pressure to reveal the storyline a little quicker than perhaps they had planned. What really interests me is how they treat her condition once Izzie has been diagnosed, especially if it involves brain surgery - which we would presume.

Tonight ABC aired a longer version of Promo #2 during the movie Miracle, and they showed new scenes.

So, Izzie says "I love you" after she gets up from the bed. Interesting, and you can tell due to Izzie's hair the promo included scenes from upcoming episode 5.12 too . The ending of the promo is too cute with Izzie, Meredith, and Lexie .

ABC is sure making that scene more mysterious each time they present it in the promos . I can't tell if Izzie's ILY is directed at Alex, another Dizzie ILY(we had already a Dizzie ILY moment this season in "In The Midnight Hour") and the ABC peeps are making it seem like it's something new when it's not, or if it's a dream due to the camera angle and how Izzie presents her ILY lol.

There looks to be a few new A/I kisses in the next two upcoming episodes because Alex kisses Izzie in an exam or x-ray room in this episode. This is from the first promo:


I could be wrong, but I think the new A/I promo kiss looks to be from 5.12 - "Sympathy for the Devil" due to Izzie's hair:


Her hair matches the only Izzie promotional picture we have for "Sympathy for the Devil".

I don't see why some people are having a hard time with the whole Izzie seeing Denny storyline. I dont think it implausible...I find the whole interns operating on each other much more difficult to accept. I mean that one guy had an epidural and a catheter. No man in his right mind would voluntarily have a catheter...just the thought brings tears to my eyes.

well... i used to dislike that storyline... just because i was too into Izzie and Alex... lol... but now i can get how great it actually is... so I cant wait for the drama to begin *.*
And yes... i thought that storyline was pretty disturbing ¬¬...

Izzie tells Alex about seeing Denny


Alex, you are an idiot . Someone smack some sense into his denial self-involved head. Once again Alex thinks it about him, but it's about her. For pete's sake. Alex is actually the first person that saw Izzie talk to herself at the end of 5.08, he knows from George she has been neglecting her clinic duties, and he knows she is isolating herself. Alex has seen enough signs to know something is wrong, but he chooses to be in self-absorbed denial than to help her. I know it's his M.O. to be in denial since we seen similar behavior with Alex during Ava's mental breakdown, but as a viewer it's frustrating .

Sidenote: Interesting to hear that Alex and Izzie talk about their families in offscreenville .

All I have to say is good . Alex needs a good kick He seen so many signs of Izzie acting odd. Not only has George confronted him about this, but now so has Izzie in her own panic way. Of all the characters involved in the storyline he has seen the most(and I'm not counting Izzie because she is going in and out of rational thinking), and once he finds out the bigger picture his reaction I'm hoping is "I should have listened better".

Sorry, I can't help feel a tad bit frustrated because what Alex said in his ILY speech isn't exactly panning out . Which is surprising since writing tends to work in opposites especially in GALand lol. It's just Izzie is trying her best to open up to him, considering her rational thinking goes in and out at a moment's notice due to her illness, so hopefully by the end of the episode Alex starts to take what Izzie and by extension George said seriously .

It's IZZIE'S BIRTDAY!!! . Though for the life of me I don't recall them mentioning what her age was(she's in late-20s but under 30 is all we know), and I was kinda hoping for some type of party. Alas, it was one of those quiet b-days, however; considering we never had a b-day on GA before it's cool that Izzie was the first one .

Ths is one of those episodes you can feel the bloated cast(remember that guest star list in the press release) and the writing is a reason why so many scenes were written weird. The Fab 5 lunch scene was odd because they have four chairs at one table, and they didn't have any of the characters pull up a chair. All we had was moveable characters during the lunch scene :confused:. Seriously, it was freakin' weird. We had Christina, George, Izzie, and Alex eating. Then Meredith pops up, and for some damn reason doesn't get another chair to pull up to the table(seriously her reaction to things in this episode they written were weird or unemotional especially her non-reaction to Derek's father's murder ) instead George gets up and leaves the scene so Meredith can sit where he is sitting. WTF? Then Cristina gets pissed at Meredith, and you have her leave then Sadie takes Cristina's seating spot and does some chatting with Mer. WTF? It was like musical chairs in the most annoying way ever.

With George for now they didn't follow up his concern about Izzie(could have been due to cast bloatage and how they are writing Izzie's storyline progression step by step since this one is being done by sweeps accordingly), but hopefully they follow up next week. This week we had Izzie being honest with Alex about Denny(yay), and Alex didn't even take any of it seriously or was somewhat OOC about it . I'm still rubbing my head on that one considering all the signs he seen, and all the information he has. I don't care if he's denial or not because the writers are either lightswitching him horriblely, OOC reaction to Denny, and making him look lame . I'm glad Izzie was being honest with him, but since they are prolonging Izzie's storyline to Feb. sweeps they are taking this step by step. Hopefully they follow up George's concern in the upcoming episodes because all Alex did was make it worse by enforcing to Izzie it's just "fantasy". Which granted on some level it is, but it just makes matters worse. As each episode passes Izzie is becoming more succumb to her illness. Alas, my position on Alex two days in regards to this episode didn't change, but with added bonus of WTF OOC moments lol.

It really looks like GA is completely knocking off General Hospital's Nic/Emily storyline now. Izzie is going to have to make a choice between Denny and Alex (again). Meaning if she doesn't have the surgery, then Denny stays. If she consents to have the surgery, then Denny is completely gone for good. At least that's what I got from it . Since JDM will not become a regular the choice is pretty obivious, but I would imagine there will be serious ramfications from the decision either way. Unless I'm completely wrong in my speculation, and they are going into another route.

The episode was an obivious set-up to the storyline arcs. Eric Stoltz was one of the best moments in the episode. Loved Izzie's interaction with the little boy Jackson . Dizzie was funny, and emotional due to JDM's facial expressions(he does these expressions when Izzie isn't looking). Callie and Mark were funny as hell . It felt almost like a filler episode even though it was a set-up episode to the storylines.

I didn't hate nor love it. Just felt like a set-up episode......

I liked it when Izzie blew out the candle they did CGI smoke to linger when they cut to black. Katherine looked amazing in this episode .

i loved it that it was her bday! weee lol... though i was expecting a little party o sth with everyone... but oh well... im still not sure how i feel about Alex... because you can see he does love her... the whole cake thin was cute... but i also think that he is just crazy nt noticing Izzie is not ok...
I do have t say i loved tat scene where he kisses her soooo funny! even if the story is going too slow for my taste, it is great to watch the acting and chemestry *.*

OOC means Out Of Character which is something a character never does because it's not a character trait they have exhibited before. I agree with many others that Alex's reaction to Izzie's confession was borederline OOC. Normally Alex is pissed off or annoyed by Denny, but here he was for the most part very cavalier. Alex made jokes, but normally Alex is very much annoyed by Denny. Afterall this is a guy who found pleasure in giving Denny pain in S2, and calling him a "corpse" non-stop . That's why many are saying, myself included, Alex was borderline OOC.


Alex knows Izzie is not okay since he's been saying all season long "are you okay", and now he has the most information more than anyone thanks to his own observations, George's info, and now Izzie's confession. I really don't know WTF Alex is waiting for . Unless the writers are purposely trying to make him look lame .

Alex's part in all of this is just downright annoying me. Not only does he do nothing about it, but he constantly jokes about it, makes fun of the situation, or makes it all about himself . Is he taking cues from Derek or something LOL. The only gesture he did for Izzie I liked in this episode was making her a b-day cake, but everything else annoyed me. Again, he has seen the most and has more information than anyone. What did he end up doing? Make fun of Izzie's confession constantly, and gave sex Izzie to spite Imaginative Denny. Then to top it off he calls Denny's memory, his girlfriend's beloved fiancee, a "tool". Even to top that he's a doctor .

Izzie has been succumb by her illness that she loses rational thought at a moment's notice, and to her Denny is very much real. She said to Alex it wasn't a dream. You would think Alex would know fantasies are daydreams. To Izzie this is real, and she is so succumb by it she can't even diagnosis herself(this has happened) and she is in denial because she doesn't want to think something is wrong with her(she said this in 5.08). I completely get Izzie and Imagination Denny, but WTF are they doing to Alex is just annoying the hell out of me. When your girlfriend/friend is mentally gone, then you have to step up to the plate to help them. Instead he made jokes, makes it about his insecurity yet again(i.e. in this episode alone we had two "your breaking up with me" and "it's because I said ILY" which is an increase in comparison to his flawed ILY speech in the previous episode), and was off and on OOC in regards to Denny. All he did in this episode was give an okay to Izzie to keep doing it . I love Dizzie even Imagination Dizzie since it has fulfilled many shallow fangirl wishes of mine lol, but Izzie needs help and not even her boyfriend is helping her .

Needless to say due to that I had no enjoyment with the exam room kissing because it was in spite of Imagination Denny, and Alex once again making light of the situation. Which is a bummer because I have always liked Justin and Katherine's chemistry , and I still think they do have chemistry. It's just due to the dialogue I had no enjoyment in the kissing, but Katherine's facial expressions were funny when Alex was going down on her .


ITA . Too bad you just know it's about to get worse . You know the saying be careful what you wish for.

Not had chance to see the episode yet - but should get a chance very shortly - fingers crossed. Looking forward to it after the break and from the descriptions and comments here it should be interesting to see how they are setting up the storyline. I suppose given we know Denny is around for a few episodes yet - that there must be still some way to go before Izzie is able to get any treatment. Alex has never been particularly receptive to anyone's feelings, problems or emotions so in that sense I guess it is very much in character. We will see I guess what transpires

According to ABC official website episode recap there were two George deleted scenes that didn't make it to the final airing, and their Gizzie and Gexie-related (thanks to Nicola for the heads up ):

Too bad the Gizzie scene couldn't make it on-screen due to the cast bloatage in this episode. At least we know they wrote a follow-up in regards to George's concern in the previous episode, so hopefully we do see more of it in the next two upcoming episodes.

So Lexie is moving out of the Gexie apartment unless she changes her mind(or the writers go a different route since it never aired), but until then Casa Interns is definitely Casa Interns lol.
