Izzie's storyline is looking more and more emotionally intense everytime they show it in the promos smile.gif. In the new promo we have:

Izzie running out of the hospital
IPB Image

And pushing Denny
IPB Image

She's clearly very upset because it looks like she is yelling at him, so whatever Imagination Denny told her it's obiviously BIG eek.gif. Part of me is hoping my speculation could be right....we shall see this Thursday night cool.gif.

BuddyTV has leaked/released their recap of this episode a day early eek.gif. We'll find out if the recap is true or not tomorrow night, but it seems legit for the time being shrug.gif. I have copied and pasted the recap in the GA Spoiler Thread just in case BuddyTV takes it down later:

Any discussion of BuddyTV's recap should be talked about in the GA Spoiler Thread for the time being, so other posters will not be spoiled. Thank you smile.gif.

No prob wink.gif. It looks to be an accurate recap because BuddyTV just took down their 5.13 - "Stairway to Heaven" recap down now shrug.gif. The damage has been done because the recap was online for at least 30 minutes or more nod.gif.

SP #1 Lexie/Callie - Matches BuddyTV recap

SP #2 Dizzie - Remember I couldn't get the first page of the recap to work, so this scene will brand new for you spoiler junkies like me wink.gif. Oooo...talk about a great teaser grin.gif.

This is what Kristin said below Dizzie's sneak peek:

Bonus: Tonight Izzie finally figures out what the frak is going on with the dead guy in her head. Unfortunately, that revelation does not promise brighter days ahead. Well, they might be brighter if you consider white light bright. As in, "Don't go into the white light, Izzie!"

SP #3 Meredith/Bailey/William - Beginning of the episode, so it's not in the recap I posted.

SP #4 Bailey/Richard/Alex/Izzie/Robbins - Again from the beginning of the episode, and I agree with Bailey she needs to get off this case. At least she's the first one to state that lol.gif.

SP #5 Owen/Cristina - Matches BuddyTV recap

SP #6 Cristina/Derek - We've already seen it on ET Online website

I normally do my reviews in the morning, but I'm still wired lol.gif. I have to say I wasn't expecting much from this episode, pre-BuddyTV episode recap leak (which was proven to be accurate, but with this episode one had to watch it just for the acting IMO lol), but I was impressed. I loved the editing, the music, the storylines, and stellar acting quality. I'm going to try to make this short as possible, but you me I like to ramble blush.gif lol.

Izzie's Reveal - YAY!!! It finally happened, and the way they did it showed an increase of Izzie's illness. Izzie clearly couldn't concentrate, I still think Denny is a manifestation of her illness/subconscious, and was quite irritable. She also looked clearly tired, stressed, and my sister mentioned maybe a tad bit sweaty. Either way she clearly looked like the illness has now slowly started it's physical apperance. Now the ending scene was amazing with Illness Denny and Izzie just going at each other with a yelling match, and Izzie looking utterly vulerable, scared, and lost sad.gif. That scene was tough, even though I loved that scene and the last(?) Dizzie kiss, I still loved the exam room scene more. When Izzie is once again trying to figure out what Denny is telling her she starts using "facts" that a scientist would use, and rambles on how she can see, touch, smell, and even slap him. It all seems real to her, and when Denny's reply was no Izzie's face was completely heartbroken. When she said "what's wrong with me" just gutted me, and then they had Dizzie head leaning bawl.gif. Omg, it was so sad and utterly so so well acted. That had to be one of my favorite scenes tonight. I obiviously agree with the vast majority of viewers that Katherine Heigl and Jeff Dean Morgan shined tonight in their performances.

Another mention I have to say is that even though Izzie is clearly going through hell right now she is so compassionate with her patients. All throughout the episode she made sure Jackson's mom had rest, eaten, and gave her hope of medical miracles. Alas, Izzie was right about medical miracles because Jackson lived grin.gif.

My only complaint is sadly the one I have been having since Izzie's illness began, and that was Alex's behavior. Again, this is person who been through similar crap before with his mother and Rebecca. I was hoping the crazy Rebecca storyline would enable Alex to grow and hopefully help Izzie find out she is sick. Alas, it didn't happen instead he chewed her out and made her feel guilty. The one that made Izzie realize was sick was the person losing grasps of reality, ad that Izzie herself. Seriously, Alex's a doctor for heaven's sake, and what Izzie is doing is not normal behavior. Even Dr. Arizona Robbins raised an eyebrow at it. Granted he is right when it comes to patient they are more important, but the writers have been writing Alex pretty lame considering Izzie is now the patient. Alex has all this info and observations, and what has he been doing with it since it first began? Alex has made it all about him, he didn't take any of it seriously when George and later Izzie tells him what is going on, and lastly he becomes conscending about it. That's the only truly thing that went down my spine tonight.

William's Malipulation & Saving Jackson's Life - No surprise, yet again, a stellar performance by Eric Stoltz. How he played Meredith was sadistic, and pure gold. I really loved this storyline even though it has been done on tv before. In the end Derek, Meredith, Bailey, Richard, and Cristina all performed unprofessional and unethnical behavior. Alas, will any of them receive punishment like Izzie and second generation interns though? I'm tend to find it unlikely, but I wish they would receive some accountability here. Nothing too big since it's a tv show, but at least something. Chandra Wilson did an exceptional job in the O.R. scene when Bailey broke her ethnical code. That has to be my favorite CW moment because of how she acted that significant moment in Bailey's development. I'm overjoyed that Ausiello was wrong, and Jackson lived. Even though I'm 50-50 on cliques I liked that they ended the life of William to give a life to Jackson.

Mexie - Okay, I'm still not a shipper of them, however; I did find them adoreable tonight. I loved seeing Lexie concerned over Mark, and telling him to call her "Lexie" from now on. I loved the ending when they cuddled too. They were quite adoreable during this episode along with Owen and Cristina. You can just sense that Mexie and Owen/Cristina will have a shoe dropping sometime lol.

Editing & Music - This just one of those episodes these two things stood out of me. I loved that JDM did the beginning and ending voiceovers, and I loved the montages with those voiceovers. It was neat how it was edited to Illness Denny's words, and the music that went with both voiceovers. Another editing part I loved was Izzie remembering "I'm here for you" flashback montage. A line Denny used since 5.08 "These Ties That Bind", and they went from the first time he said to the last. That was so cool since it intertwined with Izzie's reaction to her figuring out she is sick.

Sadly, once again George was barely in this episode with no storyline (even though it was awesome he helped find Jackson's donor cool.gif ). Now these episodes were made pre-T.R. Knight scandal, so if there is any change in regards to George's screentime I would imagine it would take place during March sweeps since Feb. is being taken up by the crossover episodes. So needless to say I didn't expect too much George tonight shrug.gif.

Overall, I was surprised and really enjoyed this episode. I can't wait to see what happens next during the Feb-March episodes. This episode is definitely one of my favorites from the season nod.gif.

ETA: I also loved their fade to red when going to the main title card.

Mark's medical condition caused an interesting rise in Google hits lol.gif, but it's good to know people are checking it out nod.gif.

Broken penis episode in Grey's Anatomy sparks frantic internet search among men

A plotline about a man with a 'broken penis' in the US hospital drama Grey's Anatomy has sparked a flurry of queries on internet search engines by worried men.

According to the search engine Google, two of the three most searched terms at present are "penile fracture" and "broken penis".

It follows an episode of Grey's Anatomy, Stairway to Heaven, screened in the US on Thursday, in which consultant Mark Sloan - otherwise known as McSteamy - suffered a fractured penis after indulging in illicit sex in the on-call room with Lexie Grey.

According to the episode synopsis on broadcaster Abc's website, the resulting injury sparks intense speculation among colleagues as to who is responsible for his agonising injury.

Sloan, played by Eric Dane, who also stars in Marley & Me and X-Men, is generally considered to be one of the programme's principal heart throbs, who has had romantic trysts with a large number of the main female characters.

His injury is rare but can occur, although it mainly affects young men during sexual intercourse.

Netdoctor.co.uk reports that a fracture can occur when abnormal force is applied to the erect penis, and results in a cracking noise combined with intense pain.

It is caused by a "tear in the tunica albuginea, the thick fibrous coat surrounding the corpora cavernosum tissue that produces an erection".

Most cases (75 per cent) occur on one side, 25 per cent affect both sides and in 10 per cent the tear extends into the urethra.

It is treated with pain relief, ice packs and anti-inflammatory drugs.

Katherine and Jeff are receiving high praises for their work in this episode by many fans headbang.gif, and there have been some critic acclaim as well (I don't remember the sites right now because I didn't bookmark them -- sorry folks).

Oh God i loved this episode too!
The acting was soooooooooooooo awesome!
Also love the music at the beginning and that he did the voiceover -FYI i love his voice drool.gif -
And think the episode was well written, pretty much every storyline was good... except... like u say Alex... they make him good and bad and good and bad again... its stressing... not knowing what to expect from him :S... mmm (though we knew what he was going to do lol... because of that recap u got lol) i just really hope he puts his pants on and help Izzie!... U would think that with his expiriences he would kind of realize what was happening... but he is all blind... just not wanting to understand really ¬¬

I cant wait for the next episode! And really CANT WAIT till Izzie's disease goes public!... cant wait to see everyones faces and guilt!... They diserve to feel guilty ¬¬...

I also loved that scene with Izzie and Denny and the whole "What's happening", God Katies acting was awesome!... Izzie looks sooo scared... Also when she says "are u a ghost or a dream..." God really Katie rocked this episode sooooo much! She showed everyone who had doubts how great an actress she is... and that she CAN do drama!... God she really did great in all the scenes!... Cant stop watching them xD

I was moved by Merediths last scene... though im not a big fan of her --- the character--- I think Ellen definitely did great!... im usually stressed by her crying lol... but this time it kind of felt real... very good!

I loved Eric (the killer)!.... Great acting too!... and the story between his character and the kid was awesome!...

I got chills during the episode hoho... so awesome! i hope they keep that writing up!

thanks 4 the vid btw!

A big WORD. Gawd, you just want to hug Izzie the moment she says "what's happening". Thankfully Denny did that for us. That scene was pure gold, and loved every minute of it. One of my personal favorites from the season and series.

ITA nod.gif. I think Ellen improved a great deal since season 2, and she did very well with this storyline nod.gif.

Did anyone notice they cut out a Callie scene from the promotional pictures? That was cut out, and supposely according to Kristin Callie was suppose to kiss Arizona too. So either that was hold off for the next episode, or it never happens shrug.gif.

As I previously mentioned in the thread, and we all mentioned since Denny appeared, Katherine's acting continues to be praised by naysayers and lovers alike. For an example, L.A. Times praises Katherine's performance last night grin.gif:

At the same time, mad props must be given to Katherine Heigl and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, two fine actors who admirably continue to bring their A game, even though the effort must be exhausting by now. All this Izzie-Denny business has proven wildly unpopular, but clearly, that’s not their fault.

ITA nod.gif. It's like Izzie needed someone to hold to at that moment, and Denny did just that. She needed someone bawl.gif.

I think I watched their scenes five times by now LOL. It's so utterly perfect. The more I watch the last scene the more it's becoming a tie with the exam room scene lol. Both scenes were just utterly perfect and so emotional.

You and I were discussing the last Dizzie kiss on IM, and I thought it would make great discussion on the board too. The last Dizzie kiss was similar to S2's "17 Seconds" kiss. You had Denny near-death, and Dizzie saying their final good-byes just in case. Izzie being frustrated, confused, angry, and heartbroken. Cut to S5's "Stairway To Heaven" you have the same emotional intensity as the "17 Seconds" kiss, but with an added role reversal. You have Izzie who is sick and could be dying, so she was a bowl full of emotions just like in "17 Seconds", but up a notch in the intensity because it's about her life. We could be reaching here, but it felt similar and yet different at the same time lol shrug.gif. The parallels and slight role reversals between "17 Seconds" and "Stairway to Heaven" are kinda neat.

That has to be one of my favorite shots from this episode and series grin.gif. So much so it's my cellphone wallpaper right now lol. The last time we saw a Dizzie head lean was during S2's "17 Seconds" kiss. Alas, another parallel to S2 nod.gif.

I'm also a fan of these shots as well:

When Izzie finally says those two little words......"I'm sick" bawl.gif

The way Katie delivered the line just gutted me.

I also loved this cool zoom-out shot of Izzie during the ending voiceover montage:

Emphasizes how lonely, lost, and isolated Izzie is right now. Plus how cool was it when Denny just disappeared on-screen.

With Grissom Gone, Grey's Comes Back

IPB Image

Thursday TV's Big Revelation, Not Counting Izzie's: Losing William Petersen sucks. Not because Laurence Fishburne sucks, but because the mere act of losing Petersen gave CSI supergreat numbers last week (24.2 million viewers) that, by comparison, make last night's perfectly good numbers (estimated 17.5 million) look lousy, even if they are in fact perfectly good and the biggest of the night.

Dead Denny Storyline Pays Off: Grey's Anatomy (14.3 million) was up over its season average in viewers and easily the night's No. 1 show among adults 18-49. Its good fortune rubbed off on Private Practice (9.6 million), which scored its biggest audience of the season.

Maybe There's a Big Party Somewhere? The demographically desirable just didn't tune in broadcast TV last night at 8 p.m. In the hour, Fox's returning Bones (8.7 million viewers overall for back-to-back episodes) was the biggest of the bunch, and even its 18-49 rating didn't top what ABC got the night before with a Lost rerun that aired opposite American Idol.

What 30 Rock Needs: More low-energy retirees who don't flip. The Tina Fey sitcom had a relatively OK week (6.4 million) but posted double-digit losses across the demographic board from lead-in The Office (8.7 million)—except among adults over 50.

Etc: The Office and ER (7.7 million) were up from last week; 30 Rock, My Name Is Earl (6.5 million) and Smallville (3.8 million) were down.

With Grissom Gone, Grey's Comes Back - E! Online

Make it known this is the 3rd episode where the media mentioned the Izzie/Dizzie storyline arc for one of the reasons in getting solid ratings this season. The previous episodes were "Rise Up" and "In The Midnight Hour" wink.gif.

Great caps...amazing emotion on Katie's face. Really showing how Izzie is suffering.

Grey's Anatomy recap: The Dying Game

The surgeons weighed the life of a child versus that of a murderer, while Izzie tried to get to the crux of her Denny issue

The little boy was whisked into the operating room while Izzie stepped outside to finally figure out what Denny was getting at: He was there for her, as in there to get her, and take her to heaven. There was something wrong with her. We were still not clear on what was wrong with her, since she'd had zero symptoms besides the fact she was hallucinating her dead fiancé. But she did say she was sick. And he did seem to disappear. (Strangely I felt more relieved to see him go than worried about a major character possibly having a life-threatening ailment.) —Jennifer Armstrong

Granted there is a bit of snark within the recap, but alas they chose Izzie/Dizzie as one of the juiciest highlights of the week nod.gif.

I also loved this cool zoom-out shot of Izzie during the ending voiceover montage:

Emphasizes how lonely, lost, and isolated Izzie is right now. P

I enjoyed the last three episodes actually - and I don't have any problem with the whole Izzie / Denny storyline - Katie and JDM have been excellent in what must be quite a challenging concept.

I am glad she finally realises she is sick. I think perhaps they dragged that out a bit too long, though for the first time we really saw it affect her work when she shouted at Arizona.

The scene when she realises she is sick "I am there for you" - was excellently portrayed. Katie is brilliant at conveying emotion whenever she acts. If her character is laughing you laugh with her, if she is crying you cry with her. Angry, sad, up, down...she just conveys it so well and you really feel for the character and the story.

When the camera pulls back and she is alone outside the hospital - you realise she how alone and isolated she is - and at the moment Alex really is not taking what she has told him seriously. Hopefully he will soon realise that she really is sick and it is not some kind of emotional response to Denny's death.

Perhaps we will get to see them take that trip to Iowa smile.gif A Grey's field trip..might be cool.

Looking forward to seeing what happens and how she goes about diagnosing her illness. smile.gif I think we could see some really great scenes.

Glad to be up to date..bring on the new episodes!
