So what's the verdict on the final cylon? Genius, or shark jumping at it's finest. At first it sort of bothered me, and I was disappointed. But it does sort of make sense in the fact that she just showed up the first time and everyone assumed she was Cylon then. As well as the whole thing with Tigh and Caprica six and him seeing her. This was definitely forshadowed, and while making Adama or Roslyn or even Apollo might have been an interesting take, I was pretty happy with the decision after letting it have time to sink in, and it kind of seems to make sense.

Can I revisit this question in about three weeks.?
Oh well, here goes.
At the moment I think it's brilliant. My money has always been on Doc Cottle and if I am not imagining things, the latest in interviews indicates that the Five are Cylons on a planet infested with Cylons or potential Cylons if my idea is right.
Where does this really place us.? Why it means there are potentially billions of Cylons out there and they all look different, one from the other.
So, my money is right smack dab on Doc Cottle still being a Cylon along with virtually everyone else as well... Including Charlie Connor, Zak Adama, etc., etc.

Meh.
It isn't a bad choice.
At the least, it isn't as bad of a choce as creating a new class of "Fundamentally different Cylons" which the familiar Cylons are programmed to not think about, which, oh by the way, have been around for thousands of years rather than 40, and reincarnate.

could also explain how Ellen got on the Rising Star, not knowing how she got there if i remember right. It's been awhile since i have seen that episode. perhaps she was killed in the bombing of the colonies and resurrected to be found and taken onboard to escape.

Personally, I've never been a fan of the whole humanoid Cylon notion, going back to the mini-series pilot. So I really didn't care who it was. I know the writers didn't start out with this whole "final five" stuff, it was something they made up along the way, so questions like "how did Ellen get on board" really don't matter because that plot point came way before there was any such notion of "final five."
That's really been my only personal annoyance throughout the series. The rest has been great.
I'd hoped that as they got closer to Earth they would have encountered stragglers from the thirteenth tribe who might have gotten off the boat, so to speak, which would have provided story opportunities, but the writers chose a different direction.

Getting in to spoiler territory here, but the matter of how she got on the Rising Star will be covered in The Plan.
