There are lots of trees here in the lovely, green Forks,Washington forest to hide behind... but there wasn't anyone to start a new thread. I think we were overdue for one. I guess I'm rusty at doing this. I forgot to add OTOs #110. Help! I need to edit the title and the description.

Spook, I really, really like your chocolate strategy for getting rid of wrinkles. I am an admitted chocoholic. My hips and butt don’t have any wrinkles… so, why isn’t the chocolate therapy working for my face? Maybe I’m just not eating enough chocolate. ….I think most people in the US are very hopeful and optimistic that President Obama will turn the country in the right direction. It’s nice to read that people around you are already feeling better about the US. It feels so wonderful to be hopeful again. (But President Obama sure has his work cut out for him!)

The internet company called me at work today to tell me the whole neighborhood had been having problems with the internet. They spent all day yesterday working on it and were not coming to my house. So it wasn't my modem, just the internet company going wonky. I haven't tried my wireless yet though.

Vinity I am so glad to read that you are feeling better and on the mend. Sorry you needed surgery, but glad it is helping you. Prayers being sent your way.

Vinity!! I'm so happy to see you posting, & that you are on the mend. We got a lot of snow here too, but I can't remember how much ,since it's like all the time ,over here. .



I just enjoyed the inauguation so much, I taped the other 1/2 I missed out on, & sorry that I only saw "Clint Black" at the last moment,( the day before), but really the parade & speaches were more imortant to me anyways.( I secretely voted for him ,as so did my Mom)

Gosh I know he will do a excellant job, as far as he will be able to go( in the final dissions ect.)

HMQ, 85 year old posters? Wow, that is great. ....I wasn't anywhere near the Inauguration ceremonies as I am a 'left coaster," though it sure would have been amazing to be part of that experience. LTL went to the Inauguration concert and almost got to the Inauguration itself..

I hope he's given the chance to delivery, and people are patient over the time it'll take. And I hope he does deliver for you. I remember a Prime Minister here that brought the same sort of hope and it's all gone horribly wrong... and his successor has made things worse... But that's politics, I suppose!

Ooh, Spook, I like your thinking. Yep, I’d better eat some more chocolate. ….I can so understand not wanting to start a new thread. Even if I can come up with a title (and that’s a big if), sometimes I just don’t have the energy. It usually takes me 3 or 4 edits before I get everything right… and then I go and forget something like putting the thread number before for the thread title. Fortunately, when we’re not in the mood to start a new thread, some kind OTO usually steps up to do it.




Spook, thanks for your good wishes for us. We all have our fingers crossed. President Obama has such a Herculean task in front of him.

GH, I totally agree with you about people being overly optimistic about President Obama. There are so many uncontrollable factors that influence what he will be able (and unable) to do. If he can simply improve the economy in the US (and, hopefully, positively affect the world economy), that would be enough in my book. …He has inspired a lot of people – especially kids – who were turned off to politics. If he can raise the morale in the US, that would be good, too.

Maxi, I’m interested in hearing about what you think of the twilight soundtrack. Some songs on the CD were only heard in snippets in the movie. “Spotlight,” for example only has the intro and lots of the clapping part. Did you have a chance to check out the lyrics to “Flightless Bird” I wonder what the history is behind that song. There are a few other songs with some questionable lyrics, too.

I've been very depressed lately with family problems... I haven't even been lurking on any of the boards I usually visit. ... Tek called today and told me to check in, so here I am...

I was going through my 'favorites' and found out there is a Public Star Party this Saturday January 24, 2009 from 2:00 PM to 11:30 PM at Vasquez Rocks! I started a thread about it... Maybe someone in Cali can make it... I think I'm even more depressed now... I really miss Cali!

Maxi Oh, we are almost neighbours. I'm in Latvia. Are you from north or south? Or in the middle of Sweden? My colleague is visiting a friend in Stockholm this weekend

I was so lucky to get to work without serious injuries today. First of all, I almost slipped when I was too busy looking at a cute guy, rather than look where I'm actually going. After that, I almost did the splits on ice although this time I really was looking where I take my step. And after that I almost got hit by bords which some guy in front of me was carrying . Luckily, I dodged just in time. And all that in 10 minutes. Maybe I should just lock myself in apartment for today to make sure I survive?

So, ee... Facebook is something like Myspace?

It's similar. Personally, I can't understand MySpace at all but I use Facebook daily Mainly to play games on, rather than to chat with friends

I need to listen to it a few more times, before I'll let you know. That's how I usually do it with music because I know it takes me several listenings before the songs have 'settled' and I know enough to have an opinion about them. I like it overall though.
They've started annoucing tour dates by now, perhaps you've heard about them? Bruce & ESB will be playing in Stockholm in early June. We had planned on going both evenings, but due to other circumstances I will only be able to attend the second evening in Stockholm. *If* we get tickets that is, they usually sell out within a few minutes. Keep your fingers crossed on Monday morning when the tickets are up for grabs!

He is awesome. I hadn't heard a new album is due out. Something to check out through Spotify before I decide wheter or not I should buy it.


I figured, since you mention Riga as your location. I hope your co-worker has a good time in Stockholm. I'm from the northern part of the country, by the coast (about 50 km from the Finnish border).

I agree - it's similar. Like you though, I prefer Facebook over Myspace. I deleted 'my' Myspace because I was too annoyed with it to use it. Facebook I use on a daily basis.

Maxi, I have my fingers crossed that you’ll get tickets to Bruce’s concert. A local radio station did an interview with Nils Lofgren this morning. Nils said that for the last 3 months of their last tour, Bruce and the E Street Band threw their set list away. Fans would pass up requests for songs written on cardboard, etc. and Bruce would rummage through them to pick songs to perform. Bruce and the E Street Band are so tight that they can do any of their songs at the drop of a hat. Very impressive. ….I really love Cat Stevens, too. I just read that his mother was Swedish.

He is such a great musician. I'm glad both Little Steven and Nils have been playing with ESB since Little Steven returned. Isn't it impressive? The second night last summer (as you know, we went two nights in a row) they played 17 different songs compared to the night before (out of 28 songs). Among others an amazingly wonderful version of Drive All Night which hasn't been played by ESB as a band since sometime during The River tour.

Cool. I had no idea his mother was Swedish. I do know that Nils has Swedish ancestry though, his first name is typically Swedish and his family name is a variation of Löfgren.

I'm so bogged down with paperwork at work that, I think I got lost in the forest while you came out from behind the tree with a new thread.

I did watch the innaugeration however - we were all given time off work or allowed to watch on TV's in the offices - a momentous occasion

I used to love Cat Stevens - his daughter, or step-daughter or similar, is a neighbour of my Brother in Law and plays in a band - they played at my BIL's 50th birthday party.

I went on Facebook, but after 2 years still only have 5 friends so I don't bother going there now I've also got a MYSpace page but have forgotten my password. So really I think MB is more friendly

to all OTO's old and new.

I believe the sole purpose of paper work is to drive us insane. Well, me anyhow. Paper work = evil.

My daughter joined Facebook recently at the urging of her friends. Was on it about a week before someone hacked her account, changed her password so she couldn't post and was online talking to her friends pretending to be her. That's not the worst. They e-mailed everyone she knows and told a story about her being stranded in London with no money/passport etc. and asked them to send her $250. And one of her friends did!

She is most worried about all her former professors etc. getting this and believing it is from her. She reported it to Facebook via her friends....they said they would "look into it". She's heard nothing else since then...but still gets calls from friends telling her about a weird e-mail they got.

Be careful out there, guys. It's a hard old world sometimes.

Berengaria - How awful about your daughter's Facebook account! Enough to scare people away, for sure. Hope they catch the culprit.

I caught a medicine mistake for my friend, Nancy, and felt good about that. Her cataract surgery went very well yesterday. Was feeling very good about her when she mentioned the bottom of one of her feet hurt. She always wears socks and tennis shoes, so I had never seen her feet. When she took off her socks I had all I could do not to cry. I have never seen such dry, cracked skin in my life. I won't go into detail (aren't you glad) but I came right home and wrote emails to her two kids to get it checked out ASAP. How could we all have missed something so bad???? And she has diabetes! Took the wind out of my sails.

Took it easy today and am still working on reading Inkheart.

We just had an earthquake... nothing too big, but it sure is unsettling.

A friend said that the quake was centered about a mile off of Marina Del Rey (the beach) and registered 3.4 quake on the Richter scale.

Hello everyone! Sleepy here, going to bed soon. Thought I would just pop in real quick and say hi.

I just know that I would majorly freak out all the time if I lived there and had the earth shaking below me. Only time I like that is when I am on a ride that simulates it.

WB... Well, if you're tired (as you are now), a quake is the quickest way to wake up. I've got lots of adrenaline pumping through me right now.

This is one good reasons I keep avoiding to go ona any facebook, or myspace. My Neice has had problems, of people "bashing" one & another, so yeah I will not go for this,I'd rather stay here, where I know some of you, & feel more comfortable here on this site.

I even get used to having the train come roaring past my place, at 6am, & still the pictures "skhake" on the walls. ( it freaks the cats out stil though, but I've lived here longer then they have)



Went & saw that "Paul Blart" movie tonight, it was okay I laughed in 2 parts( times), because it's all so the "same ole, same ole. As I was watching it, I was thinking I saw a movie so simular to this one on the t.v. last week.



I will pass on going to that Vampires vs Werewolves one, although I've already seen parts 1 & 2. I don't think part 3 can be any better? anyways I can change my mind, once I see more previews, & see how "scary" the werewolves are in this one.

HMQ & Seth, thanks for your concern. A 3.4 quake is just a "reminder" that we live in quake country. It rattles your nerves, leaves pictures hanging crookedly on the walls and that's usually all. The 7.1 (I think it was a 7.1) quake that we had in 1994 was very, very scary. Even more so because it happened in the middle of the night. I would bet that there wasn't any damage from tonight's quake - well, except to people's nerves.

I remember that quake well. We had just moved from Corona to San Diego. Our bird fell over her perch in her cage. We both felt the quake but thought we were dreaming until we heard the bird fall. She was ok but shaken(literally). Neither of us truly woke up until hubbies mom called us freaking out about LA on fire and the bridges had fallen. We had to remind her we lived in SAN DIEGO not LA.

Speaking of password stealing. Someone stole my Yahoo id and keeps changing the password and yahoo refuses to reset it for me! I don't use yahoo anymore because of that and thankfully not of my info on there was real.

Still going slowly through BtVS, watched 'Lover's Walk' which I enjoyed very much, with the return of Spike to cause total chaos before he goes off again, the only one happy by the end of it all The bonding between Spike and Joyce was a bit weird in a very fun way too. Then I saw 'The Wish' whcih I didn't enjoy so much though it was fun to see evil Xander and Willow I just don't like episodes so much where they hit the rewind button and it's all gone back to normal. I hope we see more of Anya...

So now I have started on Stargate SG-1 from the beginning but it's going to be a very long time until I get to see Ben Browder and Claudia Black reunited.

Lovers Walk is a wonderful, funny episode. One of my favourite episodes.

For me, 'The Wish' is one of the episodes I have enjoyed more after having seen the entire series. It's a crucial episode for things to come in later seasons/episodes. I believe I enjoy it more and more every time I rewatch the series. The whole 'what if she never came here...' is interesting in my opinion.

Yeah but when I posted that last night, I was tired because it was bedtime. I would not want something to wake me up at that time, then I would never get any sleep.

Ah, so maybe it's important to presage the changes that happen to certain characters later on (of which I'm vaguely aware). It's certainly worth watching for Vamp Willow dressed as a goth

Maxi, Vicki & WB, if I ruled the world there wouldn't be any earrthquakes. ...But, I guess no matter where you live, Mother Nature has a reminder that she's in charge: tornadoes, blizzards, monsoons, landslides, avalanches, floods, earthquakes... take your pick.

Vicki, that 7.1 quake was very literally a rude awakening. .... It was powerful enough to knock your bird's cage to the floor?

Berengaria on what happend with your daughters account! Some people are just mean. I've heard of situations when they send nasty letters and post awful pictures. But asking for money... Internet is great thing, but it sure has its issues...

Your English is excellent anyway so I guess you didn't need them We have a small Latvian community in Great Britain, mostly escaping the Soviet era communism of course. I worked with a guy called Aivars, he was born here but his parents went back to Latvia after retirement in the late 90s because they really missed their home.

They showed first 2 seasons of Roswell on television in Latvia. That was aaaaaages ago And I liked it a lot. I rewatched all 3 seasons on DVD few months ago. And I liked them even more. And then I searched some information on Internet. And then I ended up here...


Many people from Latvia went to work in UK and Ireland. There was this huge flow few years ago after Latvia joined European Union. Now there is expression that every Latvian has at least one relative living in UK


That is a good one.

I hope I never experience one of those. Not even a mild one.
