We're Over Thirty and Obsessed! Just like the title says!

smile.gif Everyone is welcome to post on the OTOs, BUT keep in mind this is a thread for Adults!
How do you know if this is the thread for you?
- Are the kids finally in bed or at practice somewhere and you need a moment with other Roswell Adults?
- Did your kids leave the nest and you no longer have to fight for the computer?
- You have no kids and enjoy posting with other Adult Roswell fans?
- Are you a mature 'under 30'?
Then this is the thread for you smile.gif

~ Poem by John aka Noseedough ~

Friendships are the best ships!
Our fun tips are the best quips,
and our pics...they rule the board
friendships are the best
we're definitely obsessed...
sometimes we may be hazy,
but we never do get stressed.
Some jump right in, don't be afraid
say what's on your mind
never fear...we all have strayed,
but fall right back in line.
We love you when you're different,
we love you when you're not,
we are the OTO's my friend,
the best that you have got!

For all the Joss Whedon fans, he is going to be on Best Week Ever on VH1 tonight.
LTL
Thanks for the thread start, VG, and a hearty AMEN! to the title.

Vin: Wonderful to see you posting again. hug.gif Sure have missed your voice around here.

Janet: Oh, no, how awful! You poor baby! Sorry you're having pain on top of the inconvenience. I hope the healing goes as quickly as can be expected.

NanaJ: I'm still not quite finished with Twilight, mainly because again, I just wasn't reading. I did read it at breakfast and hated to put it down, but then tonight I had company. Right after Psych I'll pick it up again.

Berry: Thanks for the info on Alien Western -- that looks good.

I used to like horror when I was younger, but once I had kids, it scared me too much. Go figure. I'll watch some now, but I do not like gore at all. tongue.gif

Oh, good grief, Psych is starting out as a horror movie. lol.gif

JanetG - sorry to hear about your wrist. Although the snow we had disappeared very quickly here we've had many icy mornings and it's a relief to get ice free morning when you can walk without having to watch each footstep.

That said, I'm off to the Austrian Alps next weekend because I wanted to do some hiking in proper winter weather, snow and ice and temps down to -18 °C / 0 °F - I must be an idiot lol.gif rolleyes.gif uhoh.gif

Reached the end of S3 BtVS now and I've enjoyed it very much though the Buffy/Angel stuff was wearing on me a bit no.gif, strangely I had a dream with Anya in last night innocent.gif

Anyone else going to watch 'Blind Date' tonight? Not my favourite episode (Liz and "Dogboy") but it just so happens that I'm working my way through S1 again and date coincides neatly. Like the Max & Kyle scenes which are funny, and Michael and Isabel is very touching nod.gif

Vicki - thanks for the compliment. What's going on with your children? How old are they now? Has Vegas set any weather records this year? I know you saw some snow.

The kids are doing good. My son was diagonosed with Tourettes last year and is on meds that are doing wonders for his "ticks". My daughter is so ready for kindergarten, she will start in the fall. smile.gif We had over 8 inches of snow in one day! It was amazing. The kids got their first ever snow day for Las Vegas! They loved it. We did set some records with that. grin.gif

We now know after 16 years that our Moluccan Cockatoo, we always figured was a female, is now definately a female. She layed an egg yesterday morning. It's rare for a bird in captivity who has no mate to lay an egg but it does happen. Poor thing didn't know what she had done and cracked the egg open to see what was inside. Fortunately it wasn't a fertalized egg so it was just like an egg from the fridge. eek.gif

HeavyMetalQueen
wave.gif Well I survived the movie, It was good, & you know what? Not much gore in it, so that was good for me, as I can't handle the gore as much as I used to. But it went fast.

That hadn't actually occurred to me. I usually do watch Roswell episodes on their respective holidays, but I had forgot that BD takes place on Valentine's Day.

eek.gif janet, I just read your post about your broken wrist and all that you’ve been through. Poor thing! I’m glad you’re on the mend. (And you still have your pinkie finger to deal with, too, huh? sad.gif ) My girlfriend fell and broke her wrist and ended up with a harness contraption that was surgically attached; the outside made her hand and wrist look like a suspension bridge… But her wrist did heal. I hope yours does the same – and soon. hug.gif

Berry, thanks for the info on James’ new TV movie. If you can, would you remind us (translation: me :oops) a day or two before it airs? Thanks. smile.gif

VG, thanks for the new thread and the sad-but-appropriate thread title.

SO47, .I loved “Blind Date” because drunk Max was just so cute and the drunk bonding between Kyle and Max had me lol.gif …Have a wonderful time on your vacation in the Austrian Alps.

VG, I forgot that “Blind Date” takes place on Valentine’s Day, too.

Speaking of Valentine’s Day, I hope everyone had a nice one. … blush.gif I wore a homemade pin that said “Be My Vampire.” grin.gif

Vicki, you were almost a “grand-bird.” I bet everyone was spineyes.gif over your bird’s egg – including your bird.

And speaking of trips, Nosee, I hope you have a safe drive.

Damn that was a good show. I really miss Roswell. They don't make them like that any more. I haven't watched an episode from season one in quite a while. I can see starting over again. Maybe we should all watch one a week or one a day for a while. It was always more fun when you know all of your friends were tuned in at the same time. grin.gif

It's a long, long way off yet but we musn't forget the 10th anniversary of the first air date for Roswell on 6 October 1999. We should definitely commemorate the event here in some way smile.gif
Nana J.
Summerof47 -Thanks for reminding us: October will be the tenth anniversary of the start of our favorite show! GH wants to do something (BTW, I agree. Neve have found another TV show that had the power over me that Roswell did!) We'll all have to put our thinking caps on and come up with a great idea .

A broken wrist is a big deal. The wrong kind of big deal. Am so sorry, Janet. May you heal well and rapidly!

Lori - Glad to hear you liked Taken. Anyone have any comments about He's Not That Into You or Confessions of a Shopaholic? I may get to a movie or two this week. I took the girls to the latest Pink Panther. Steve Martin's accent bothered me--I had trouble translating it at times! I wouldn't put it high on my list of want to see.
The grandgirls seemed to like it okay.

Tek - I loved your "Be My Vampire" pin idea.

Vicki - Ok. Your daughter must be 4 or 5. That's a sweet age. Enjoy her now, as they grow so fast and get independent. I'm having more and more trouble trying to mold my grandgirls into the directions I want them to go! (Yeah. I know. Lots of luck!).

Janet - I hope your wrist heals well, and doesn't give you long-term problems. It sounded like a mangled mess!

Lori - cool.gif that you met up with Nosee smile.gif

Did I tell you all that Pip and I have been watching Farscape together? look.gif She loves it grin.gif Although she does hide her face in some of the more violent parts - and we're only 6 episodes in lol.gif

I had a horrendous cold this weekend. I still have it, but it's now on it's way out. On Saturday though, I began to fear it was flu, as I just couldn't regulate my body temperature at all frown.gif I spent all Sunday morning in bed - except for making Pip's breakfast. Poor child was alone all morning, but she didn't disturb me once! She made me a 'get well soon' card smile.gif

Then we took the dog to the park, when both dog and child played football (our dog loves chasing footballs around), and got very, very muddy. So I was a bit grumpy when I got home and had to wash the dogs clean before she could go back in the house. The dog went into a sulk at being washed, and Pip got upset when she realised she boots wouldn't clean up to be bright and sparkling ever again!

Ho Hum! Such is life! lol.gif

I know this article isn't something to laugh about but the wording is...
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- A United Airlines flight bound for Denver, hurling down the runway at Mineta San Jose International Airport at more than 130 mph Monday, aborted its takeoff after striking A Flock of Seagulls.
I always wondered what became of that band and why were they playing on the runway? wink.gif

Hope everyone is having or had a great Monday!

GH, I love the idea of having a group OTO Roswell watch. It would be great fun… and I bet a lot of us <<<cough, cough, look.gif cough>>> haven’t watched it in a long time. Anyone else interested???

SO46, thud.gif 10 years since Roswell first aired? I cannot believe it! OK, then I think we should mark the event by watching at least season 1, an episode a week. We could start a new thread, post ep comments, tidbids & factoids, etc…. grin.gif

Nana, I’m glad you liked my “Be My Vampire” pin…. I didn’t come up with the caption or the cool graphic (boy, don’t we love the internet which is where I found it) , but I did make it into a pin.

Lori, I’m sorry the link didn’t work. sad.gif I wonder if I could send the picture to you in a Word document? It’s a funny pic. ….Oooh, how cool.gif you got a chance to see Nosee. I think he’s going to have to rename this trip the Twilight/Roswell trip seeing as how he’s hooking up with so many OTOs. smile.gif

Spook, sorry you had a terrible cold. I sure wish researchers would be able to come up with a cure for the common cold already – or at least something more effective for getting rid of the symptoms. I had a very mild cold last week, but the after-effects cough I have has lasted days and days… How sweet of Pip to make you a get well card.

Vicki, lol.gif “A Flock of Seagulls…”

Maxi, I saw a Swedish film that's been getting lots of indie buzz over the weekend. It's "Let the Right One In," about a young vampire and her boyfriend. I bet you've already seen it since it's been around for a while.

I saw Doubt today. Boy, what a lot of terrific performances. No wonder so many of the actors have received Academy Award nominations for acting.

I still need to see those 2 moives, maybe this week sometime, But I would agree with you on the Pinlk Panther, I loved the t..v show ,with Peter ellers in it, but I don't know Steve Martin hasn't made any good shows in a very long time, last one he did ,that I enjoyed was Cheaper by the dozen.

Oh! talk about that, wonder if that new Mom of 14 has ever seen that movie yet,( maybe she should of watched it before having tons of kids eh. lol.gif lol.gif I feel so sorry for the kids, I can see them all in foster care sad.gif ( or well guessing that). Only becaue I finally watched that dateline show on her today.

Oh! You know that movie "Angels & Demons " looks really good ( in the previews). I'm not surprised that the Catholic Church doesn't approve of it, or the book, but I don't know, I think it looks like a good ride of a movie, but I can understand how it could get some "negative feedback".

Who else is going to see the movie?

My Kity is doing okay, he's awfully thin loking, until he lays down, then I know he still is a bit chubby. He is eating the fod up like crazy, so that's good. It was the 1st year, we had a holiday today( Yours is Presindent Day, Our's is "Family Day") I think it's stupid myslef, I mean family day for me( growing up) was alwasy Sunday, after Church. But now I think even Saturday is family day too. smile.gif & to make it even more " rolleyes.gif spineyes.gif " was the busses weren't running today so a lot of "younger mom's" couldn't take their kids anywhere. when the whole city's making a big deal outa it. I had a chuckle this morning. Pip has entered a poem writing stage of her life (I think they've been writing poems in school). She decided to write a poem about her Mum and she showed it to me today. Hi there OTOs! wave.gif

Greetings from Rosvina! wave.gif

The fireball passing over Texas was determined to be a meteorite. They said it would have been about the size of a pickup truck when it hit the atmosphere and would have been small enough to pick up if it make it all the way to the ground. One of the local TV stations here covering a marathon race Sunday morning got some video. Here's an article with a link to a short video of the fireball. It wasn't part of the two satellites that collided last week.

Later....

Groundhog- I'll have to come back & check up on the video of the metorite. & What a hard life it is, for your kitty cat.lmao.gif He's/she's so cute, what's her/his name?

My Cat lays like that too, but it wasn't so "cute" when he was 21 pounds. eek.gif But he's now 13 pounds, well as of 2 weeks ago, I got a feeling he is still losing weight. sad.gif

I'm having my parents over tommorrow( or I mean't later on "today"). I'm doing a Turkey dinner, with all the trimmings. Plus for desert it's cream puffs, & icecream. I will drizzle the puffs over with chocolate, to make it look a bit "yummier" smile.gif

If you all want to come on over, the meal starts at 5pm.wave.gif( If I have a bit of time I'll come back later on ).

HMQ, I forgot to say how great it is that your kitty is doing better. Did the vet ever figure out what caused her weight loss?

Spook, I heard the same thing about colds – that there are endless variations on the cold virus which makes it near impossible to come up with a cure for it. sad.gif

GH, can I just give you a big giant Awwwww!!! That pic of your kitty is just so cute. I especially love the way his/her front and back paws are curled. ...Thanks for the link to the meteorite video. Very interesting. And talk about being in the right place at the right time – that photojournalist got the video of his career.

Janet, hmmm... maybe a new career as a cake baker (once your wrist heals) will be your road to riches. Sixty pounds for a cake? That’s pricey! What is the frosting made of? Gold?

wave.gif Nosee, glad to read that you made it to our Roswell Mecca. smile.gif

Spook Perhaps Pip was thinking about both her mothers when she wrote her poem.

Turns out it was me grin.gif She edited it yesterday and added "new" in front of "mum" everywhere. So it's definitely me grin.gif

She then wrote another poem about her 'old' mum. And the content of that confirms it. That wasn't such a pleasant poem for a Mum to read wink.gif But it was an honest one.

HMQ - Pip is in Year 5. We do years here now, although that means nothing me me once they reach teenage years and I can't work out which year is what age spineyes.gif lol.gif She won't read the poem in school - it's something she's doing for herself. That, and drawing giraffes! lol.gif

Janet - I would definitely take up a career in cake making if I was arty enough. I keep telling my sister to start a sideline in cakes - she makes some spectacular novelty cakes! Far better than you can buy. And the cost of these cakes to buy is extortionate eek.gif

That said, I have to confess that a cake recently bought for the birthday of a child I know wink.gif cost all of £8.99 from a supermarket. It's her own fault! She wanted home made, and I was going to make it - then she changed her mind at the last minute and asked for a bought cake. What is wrong with the wonky cakes I make, I want to know! lol.gif

My cold has turned into an annoying cough sad.gif A really tickly throat sad.gif I think it annoys my work colleagues that I share an office with more than me though lol.gif

Speaking of work... I'd better get some done eek.gif

Perfect title.

Watching Private Practice reminded me of Swing Town because Adisons brother Archer was on it. Does anyone know if that's coming back, I know it was cheesy but it had me hooked.

Groundhog lol.gif what a great pic of your cat. I always wanted a cat but didn't want the responsibility of the litter box, blah.

Janet and Nana should open up their own bakery, yum.

I had a terrible cold over the long weekend, darn it. Yesterday my boss kept telling me if I wanted to go home. I must have looked worse than I felt lol.gif

Nosee we could have met up while you were at Rosvina and watched Twilight for you 100 times, mine 12 it's still playing over there.

So glad the sky isn't falling uhoh.gif I was thinking maybe it was frozen pee, again.

janetg
Spook so glad the nice poem was abouy you. There's nothing wrong with supermarket birthday cakes! Even better are the giant iced cookies which my boys always prefered for parties. I just felt I wanted something special for his eighteenth! He's decided not to have a party, which is a relief, but as his birthday is on Shrove Tuesday we will just have a family pancake party at home insread. nod.gif

Groundhog thanks for the link - now I can rest assured that the next alien invasion hasn't started grin.gif jus have to keep a look out for fallong meteorites etc lol.gif

di m pee lmao.gif

Whilst at home I've been enjoying watching a new BBC series, Being Human, about a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost sharing a house trying to live like normal humans. It's a good mix of humour and Drama. Noticed it's produced with bbc america. Anyone else seen it?

Spook, I bet you are glow.gif knowing that the lovely poem Pip wrote was about you. hug.gif .... Colds are gone in a week... coughs last forever. I’m still coughing from my cold. I’m getting really tired of my cough, too.

ITA, Janet, store bought cakes are just fine – and sometimes better than homemade. And they usually are more affordable, too. ...”Being Human” sounds interesting.

wave.gif Hi gang

Let's just say I'm *so* ready for winter break, which is a week and a half from now. look.gif

Tek - you got to watch "Let the Right One In" before I did! I have been planning to read the book that it is based on for several years (it was released in 2004), but other things have always come in between. I decided to opt out of watching the movie on the big screen, so I'll catch up on it on DVD instead.
di m
I can tell my boss is getting worried with this budget crisis. no.gif Centers are really looking into each case with a fine tooth comb or decreasing childrens service hours. I better start paying bills off just in case.
Lori R
Spook that was so sweet about Pip's poem smile.gif
What a wonderful way for her to express her feelings for you. Something you can keep forever smile.gif

Watcher tongue.gif

Groundhog cute cat smile.gif

janet your son won't care if one cake is not homemade. He will understand.

di m does that mean your hours are being shortened?

Tek I haven't read the book, but want to see the movie.

Maxi, vilandragirl, HMQ, Wild and those I missed wave.gif

My formal observation was today. No idea how I did.

To all that are ill...get well soon hug.gif

Wild 'Lost' was really good tonight! More questions, but very good ep.
Missed having you around smile.gif

Sorry I forgot to tell you I had my schedule flexed this week and had to work until 9 pm. So I did not get home until almost 9:30 pm. I did not want to watch a show like LOST midway through, so I watched Criminal Minds instead, which I was also recording. lol.gif I did see the last 2 minutes of LOST though...interesting...

wave.gif Tek- My kitty is still not doing thr bset, he is eating a lot & is not putting on weight, as far as I can tell, I'll have to weigh him in this weekend.,

He seems hungry all the time( like he used to be),but just not as big.

The vets gave me no idications of anything wrong with him, so I think next week, I will start him with a little bit of "Iams" food, with his other stuff, the vets aren't giving me any answeres so I'm going ahead with this plan. It should work, because really he;s eating food now, that is lite on him, (so like if we were eating salads 24/7. throw in a little "pasta" & we put on some weight.)

So the Iams should put a bit of weight back on him, he's lost way too much, in less than a year.

He seems fine though, no complaining"meows". or anything, But I'm keeping an close eye on him.

Spook- I'm "guessinbg" she is around 9 or 10 then? so over here that would be grade 4.( depending on the birthdays ). but yeah I was "old" for grade 4, so maybe grade 3 she 's in.

That was so nice that poem was about you, she feels very secure with you & finally has a stable home enviropment. eh! smile.gif smile.gif

So when is her birthday? Did you order the cake today then?

Well My meal went over really well, I ended up inviting my Aunt & Uncle( Dad;s Brother ) becaus ethe darn Turkey was a 10 pounder. eek.gif no way 3 people could eat that & I'm not to fond of "left overs" as it is. so I gave a lot of it way( the Turkey) & kept some for me. BUt I'm tired, I cleaned my whole place up,( washed floors, bathroom, vacumened,). Oh! I also gasve away the left over salad, I'm not a salad person as much, I can eat them, just agian, left overs. lol.gif .

Okay off to read my book, I'll be back sometime later on.wave.gif

A giant iced cookie! Why didn't I think of that! A great idea for a birthday 'cake' smile.gif

I'd have a little extra special cake for an 18th as well smile.gif

But, as it's pancake day... a huge pan-cake would suffice? wink.gif look.gif grin.gif

Me! grin.gif I watched the pilot that was made last year and really enjoyed it, and the series isn't disappointing (although I was a bit miffed the actors had changed for a couple of the characters).

Last week, I watched the ep 3 times... sort of. I fell asleep on the Sunday and missed all but the first 15 mins, so I decided to watch the repeat on the Monday. I fell asleep before that began and woke to catch the last 15 minutes... so I caught the middle bit on Friday's repeat lol.gif Never had I been so glad that the digital channels show so many repeats lol.gif

Pip and colds... Pip has had a sore throat and a cold for a week or two. Nothing serious, but a persistant little thing that keeps coming and going. This morning, I was met by a woeful Pip holding up a note that said :I tried to talk but can't, so I won't be talking today". After I'd finished cheering at the prospect of silence (she really does usually talk non-stop wink.gif) - which didn't get a sound out of her - I checked her throat. It was sore, but didn't look bad, so I got out a strepsil for her to suck on after breakfast and continued getting ready for work.

For 30 minutes, Pip refused to utter even the smallest of sounds. Claiming her throat was waaaayyyy too painful (she wrote a lot of notes wink.gif lol.gif ). Then, the postman came while I was upstairs and Pip answered to door to him. He had a parcel, addressed to her. It's her birthday present from one of her brothers. Very excited, she ran upstairs to tell me. Then she ran back downstairs to tell my Dad about it when he arrived. After 10 minutes of constant chatter about the parcel and what might be in it (I wouldn't let her open it - it's not her birthday yet), I quietly mentioned what a miracle it was that her voice was working again....

Pip went very red lol.gif Very sheepish - and admitted she could talk all along! Little minx! She was playing games trying to get some sympathy for herself because I've been coughing and hacking and have a very croaky voice myself and she was feeling left out! lol.gif

Vin? look.gif Anyone horsey? look.gif My niece is writing an (very, very good) story about horses. She's actually attempting a novel. And she wants to know whether a foal that is still drinking it's mothers milk would also drink water? look.gif I'm not sure - and wondered if anyone else knows?
di m
Lori Luckily my boss needs me if she wants reports out on schedule but if we lose more kids then perhaps my hours would be cut. But by the looks of the stack of reports in front of me, it's not going to be anytime soon. I feel bad for the E/I what we call teachers, no children means no work. The supervisors might have to take the part-timers case load if it get worse.

Thanks for the Giant Cookie idea my daughter turns 10 bawl.gif (my baby) on March 1. We'll probably take her to Knotts; she's been dying to show off that she can handle scary rides and mommy and daddy can't any longer then to the 3D Jonas Brothers movie the next day.

Spook Load up on paper for Pip lol.gif

Hi, OTOs! wave.gif

So, is it really have been 10 years since Roswell? Wow... shock.gif

Tek, count me in for Roswell watching any time. It's been too long... smile.gif
Friend suggested me to watch "Doubt" recently too. nod.gif

Groundhog, your cat is cute! lol.gif

janetg, family pancake party sounds so good! thumbsup.gif

Maxi, my experience says that last weeks before school breaks are the longest. Hope it comes sooner for you! smile.gif

Spook, a get well card, a poem, writing notes while pretending not to be able to talk... it seems, that you are never bored with her, huh? lol.gif She sounds like a very nice kid... nod.gif

Spook - congratulations on receiving a nice poem from your daughter. Those are the things we treasure.

When my granddaughter had her birthday I took in a variety of donuts to the classroom. And individual packaged juices. Went over well. I'll probably do the same for the older granddaughter next month. The cookie idea sounds good, too.

GH - I heard from hearing Peter Davenport, who runs a UFO sight, that the lights you mentioned were probably a meteor. He said that satellite parts falling would come from a different direction.

My daughter is having a medical procedure tomorrow, so I will drive her home and stay to pick up the girls after school and bring them back here for the night. I actually thought ahead and made a casserole for tonight that I divided in half and will take half to give my daughter tomorrow so all she will have to do is pop it in the oven. It's one she especially likes. I usually don't get these ideas ahead of time--I still have to deliver a valentine's present to my grandson. (That will happen Sunday).
Di_m - I love crepes, too! I made French toast, this morning. I had bacon back slices, and put one on top of each piece of toast. Nice. I think I'll try it with a over easy egg on top of the bacon back and toast tomorrow. Breakfast is perhaps my favorite meal.

LTL - I'm rereading the Stephanie Plum series and I think Lulu's appetite has got to me!

Cheers!

Having a nice easy day today. Little of this, little of that.
