The day went like this:
Began with photograph session. As we were called up row by row, we walked towards James. He seemed relaxed and friendly and when he opened his arms up wide, whatever I planned to say to him went right out of my head and I just enjoyed the big, squishy hug he was giving. Afterwards, anyone who wanted to buy an additional photo was called up. This time I managed to tell him that the woman ahead of me was my sister and that I was "treating" her to this event. He said "She must really owe you BIG TIME now."
I said "She certainly does."
Finally, I was in a group photo with some friends. We did a "Charley's Angels" type pose with James in the middle pretending to hold two guns and looking very James Bondish while the rest of us clustered around him. It's a wonderful keepsake of friends from all over.
Then we had the autograph session. We got a signed photo of James as Piccolo in DragonballE and he personalized anything we brought with us. I had him sign the Queen Mary photo of him in his tux and me in my fancy gown. He wrote on it "To Kate, one Love, James Marsters. People tell me that's from a Bob Marley song and is a wish for harmony, love and peace among all people.
This was followed by a Q&A where a lot of good questions were asked. He said that he would NOT be riding a horse in Alien Western but that others would and he thought if the special effects work this will be a good movie. That Scifi has offered him scripts for years but that this was the first time that Steve told him "This is a good script." He like the director and other actors.
After this we got to pick up our photos from the morning and were given a DragonballE poster with James as Piccolo on it as well as some of the others.
And we went off to walk around town to find dinner. There were lots of good choices within walking distance so it went smoothly and everyone managed to get back in time for the evening concert.
James was in great form for this. He said he planned to play almost everything he'd ever written but that if we wanted a request to just yell it out. The only "new" song he played was called "Falling Down". He had thought of calling it "Buzz Aldrin" but after listening to the lyrics wasn't sure that people would understand why. It is more a song about longing for his girlfriend while he was making "Moonshot" and that he thought his feelings were probably something Buzz Aldrin and the other astronauts had felt as well. It's a lovely song anyway and hope it makes a new album when there is one. He is still saying that he has to sell all copies of his latest one before he can think about a new one. Last thing he shouted out to us before he left was "I love you!" and we all cheered and waved him off as we knew that the next day he was embarking on a tour of Korea and Thailand for DB publicity.
Sure had a good time.
