Wow.
Okay, it's closer to 60 hours now since you(r character) rode off into the sunset... Well, the sun- but I digress...
Its been about 4 years since BSG got its "jock"- and even then, I thought Sam was an interesting bloke. Something about being a hardened resistance fighter, but being put in the traditional female position, (staying while the woman rode off to war/get the rescue- yes, ironically, while the person staying behind is continuing their war as well), and the beginnings of an interesting character even back then. The return with the end of S2, as well as the New Caprica arc- nice. Of course, I could see the "oh come ON!" moment when he realized the Cylons were back... Through your escape from the Republic party before you were likely cornered by "you're a what?" fans... And finally, through your accident, frankly amazing recovery & attitude there about it, (I'm wondering if that partially was why they had you goo-bathed after the revolution... class act, really, if so- shows concern for their actors...), to the final "See you on the other side" (because I needed more eye moisture friday night
Oh so surprisingly, some of the 'bucs on the Skiffy board were feeling a bit bummed, so I put together a short poem... they suggested I post it here, (despite reservations I might have)... To wit:
Our captain, he flies so free
He reaches down, and takes us gently;
Though he passes through the air
Falling high to nowhere;
We rode with him along the way
Wishing the best for each day;
His j'rney ends in light so bright
While we feel the tides of night;
Sam takes our hearts into the sky
Our hearts, though bruised, can now fly.
Thanks for an amazing run, Michael- looking forward to your next work, hoping to see you around before too long (gotta talk shop, actually); but you'll always been the Cap'n for many of us.
PL&L,
Jeremy
(Yes, and those who know me can probably guess why Jamie'd be laughing his arse off- hush
