We're Over Thirty and Obsessed! Just like the title says!

smile.gif Everyone is welcome to post on the OTOs, BUT keep in mind this is a thread for Adults!
How do you know if this is the thread for you?
- Are the kids finally in bed or at practice somewhere and you need a moment with other Roswell Adults?
- Did your kids leave the nest and you no longer have to fight for the computer?
- You have no kids and enjoy posting with other Adult Roswell fans?
- Are you a mature 'under 30'?
Then this is the thread for you smile.gif

~ Poem by John aka Noseedough ~

Friendships are the best ships!
Our fun tips are the best quips,
and our pics...they rule the board
friendships are the best
we're definitely obsessed...
sometimes we may be hazy,
but we never do get stressed.
Some jump right in, don't be afraid
say what's on your mind
never fear...we all have strayed,
but fall right back in line.
We love you when you're different,
we love you when you're not,
we are the OTO's my friend,
the best that you have got!

Awwww More Marsters and Sullivan. Clearly Sullivan has some real talent. It's an old song but Sullivan wrote some new stuff for it. Wonder if he can sing.

I should get my copy of Dresdan Files Turn Coat tomorrow. I'm mad at amazon. I had gotten into the habit of ordering all my books from them. They end up being about 1 to 2 $ cheaper than the bookstores even with discount cards AND they used to send stuff out 10 days early so you'd be sure to get it by the release date, usually you got it a few days earlier than the bookstores. Now they are shipping ON the release date bawl.gif We have a crappy bookstore here and they often are late getting new books up so I no longer know which way would be fastest sad.gif mad.gif

I'm still waiting though sad.gif I think I'll ask him on Sunday, when Mom has the gang over at her house. grin.gif .

I here Terminator will likey be canceled but they are talking of giving Dollhouse a second season and moving it to a better time period.

QUOTE(vilandragirl @ Apr 8 2009, 07:20 PM) *

I'm not surprised about Terminator, but I am dissappointed. I really like that show.

That would be very disappointing, we are just getting to the end of S2 here and they are just getting the story to a very interesting place. I hope this is not yet another series where the production team is prevented from giving us a proper conclusion by the network and we're all left high and dry. sad.gif

I ditto SO47. If it's cancelled I'll be disappointed. I am really enjoying it.

Have you tried Play.com? I don't know about the US version of the site, but the UK one is excellent. I buy all my DVDs and books from them now - only go to Amazon for the few they don't sell. I like Play because it doesn't charge for shipping, and it does ship before the release date. I usually get things on the day of release - sometimes a day or so before then, if the post is working well.

I have a daughter that's covered in bruises lol.gif She's so clumsy! On Monday she fell off a wall she was jumping on, and bruised her right leg and hip quite badly. Then, on Tuesday she tripped over my sisters dog and fell onto a piece of wood, scraping her left thigh and gaining a very big, bright bruise. Yesterday she ran into the door while messing around with her cousin, bruising her arm. And this morning she bumped her head when she jumped out of bed lol.gif I swear she's a walking bruise right now! lol.gif Luckily she see's the funny side. She's busy telling everyone she's in competition with my Dad (who pulled a muscle in his back the other day and is walking like a very old man as a result).

Happy Easter to those celebrating. smile.gif

I started my celebrations tonight, with non-Easter related stuff - as a spectator of a snowmobile race. Great fun as always. wink.gif
Nana J.
Poor Pip. Glad she sees the funny side of this. My husband is always getting mad at himself "for being so clumsy!" Much better to laugh it off.

I'm watching American Idol again this season, and I gotta say I was impressed with Adam Lambert's performance of Mad World earlier this week. I went to ITunes and purchased it. Just sitting there to deliver this piece--it was an amazing thing. His range and phrasing were incredible.

Vicki - So you have a boat now? Due to the economy, many people are abandoning their boats. We had a piece on the news about it recently.

I slept in till 8:30 this morning. Wonderful! And I'm getting my office straightened today. I had no errands to run and that helps. A catch-up day. Feels good.

Lori - I'm sure you will do a great job at the Parent meeting. I suspect you have a hard time saying "No." ??

Gotta get back to sorting through office papers. wave.gif

Vin, thanks for the new thread – and the perfect title. I’ve been so busy, I didn’t even notice it was time for a new thread. .....I wasn’t home last night so I taped Lost & The Unusuals – and the new ep of South Park. blush.gif ....I’m glad you liked The Unusuals; I'm looking forward to seeing it. I really liked Hill Street Blues; it was a nice homage to HSB that The Unusuals had it playing on a TV in the show. I still remember the pilot ep of HSP and how my jaw dropped at the end of the ep (when Charles Haid and Mike Warren walked into the deserted warehouse and were shot). ….Oooh, thanks for the new James Marsters vid with his cute son, Sullivan…. bawl.gif unfortunately, when I tried to play it I got a message saying the vid was no longer available – they I tried again and it played. smile.gif Sullivan is most def James’ “Mini Me.” You got me curious. I searched for “Over Now” on YouTube and didn’t find it, but I did find several other vids of James singing. smile.gif

HMQ, this season of SPN is good. I really, really liked last week’s ep. It had me rotfl.gif in parts.

Vin & Quinn, thank you both for your “Supernatural” offers. You are the best. hug.gif

Lori, this is for you: troutslap.gif Oh, wait – I just saw that Vin & Nosee already gave you a troutslap.gif ….Heck, you need more than two. Here's one more: troutslap.gif Next time remember to take one step backward when your principal asks for volunteers. wink.gif Though, I have no doubt that you will make a fabulous presentation to the parents.

Spam, thanks for the 411 on the shoot in Covina. If I were a bigger fan of Monk, I might consider driving out there…. But…

Spook, poor Pip. She sounds like me. I usually bang myself up one way or another. Yesterday I burned my finger cooking and now have a lovely blister to show as a result of my culinary endeavor. …You’ll be gone for a week? We'll miss you. Have a lovely vacation and Happy Easter to you.

Ilo, I think you and I are going to have to share my other screen name: “Bella of the Boards” - with a tip of the hat to twilight.

While I’m at it, Happy Easter to everyone celebrating. And Happy Passover to everyone celebrating that holiday.

look.gif Is anyone going to watch Harper’s Island and/or Southland tonight? If you do and have time to post your impressions tonight, I’d like to read everyone’s reviews of the shows. I’ll see them west coast time. I’m still trying to figure out which to watch and which to tape.

wave.gif just a quick flyby as it's 1:04am. I'll answer everyone later on "today" okay, I just wanted to say that I went to Cosoc with my Mom & she bought me the 2-dvd set of Twillight. I was going to buy it, but she said she would as she wanted to buy me a "replacement gift" for Christmas( I took the outfit back ages ago), & so it was only $19.49 & I bought "Max Payne" for $9.99

not bad day eh!( the biger set of Twilight was $59.00 in this collective box ect. I didn't want that , jus tthe dvd is fine & the extras.

The only thing that kinda bothers me, as Dad's Birthday , hit on "Good Friday" this year, so I feel awfully "guilty" celebrating a birthday when your not suposed to.no.gif

anyways, I'll be going over to my parents later on & just give Dad his gift, as I don't want to give it to him, when the "gang" arrives at my parrents house on Sunday, plus with 25 people there it really is to many to be giving gifts around. My cousin also celebrate's a B.D. on the 10th but I don't know if she will be over at Mom & Dad's on Sunday.

okay gotta get some sleep, I'll answer my p.m. later too okay.

Maxi - I see that the Swedish vampire film "Let the Right One In" (Låt den rätte komma in) is getting some very good reviews from our press. Have you seen it?

Did anyone else see it - it was released in the US months ago but it's only just released here today. It's the first I've heard of it...

I believe Tek may have mentioned seeing it, so perhaps she can fill you in. I haven't seen it yet (I very rarely pay to watch Swedish movies in theatres, I usually wait for the DVDs wink.gif ) Anyhow, it is based on a book with the same name (which I haven't read either... go figure lmao.gif ) - however, I know lots of people liked the book. smile.gif

SO47, wow, Maxi has a good memory! I can barely remember what films I've seen and she remembers that I saw Let The Right One In. It wasn't quite what I expected, though I went to see it not knowing a lot about the movie. It wasn't a "Swedish twilight" that's for sure.... lol.gif It's a lot darker, but I liked the film. The kids in the film were great. Will you go see it? I'd be interested in what you think of the film.

HMQ, enjoy your twilight DVD. The extras are a lot of fun.
Vinity
Morning guys wave.gif

Dresdan's Turn Coat was great but the series in getting darker fast!

Maxi~ I'm interesting in your take on something. In the Outlander series. Claire has gone thru the standing stones 3 times, two with intent and she was able to steer and there is no mention of her ever using a gem stone. Now both Bree and Roger used Gemstones twice and were able to steer and hit the intended time and place. Geilie was able to go thru the Stones and steer WITH a gemstone but never got the second chance to try. The Indians used the stones BUT couldn't steer with any accuracy.

So using the simple genetic structure they used about Jem's parentage one would guess that Claire passes the Standing Stones because she is homozygous dominate DD gene for time travel. While Bree can pass the Standing Stones WITH a Gemstone because her mother past on D dominate gene to her with a recessive gene from Jamie who can't hear the Standing Stones or travel. Roger has a dominate D gene passed from Geilie's line but looks to likely have a recessive trait also because he clearly needed a Gem Stone to Time Travel. The Children of Roger and Bree seemed to have even MORE sensitivity to the Standing Stones and remember that Both could even here the gemstones sing and the Opel exploded in the hands of the baby girl so I'm guessing both of these children have gain a D dominate trait from both parents, making them like Claire only they seem even stronger as Claire only feels a Gemstone get hot in her hand and the children hear them sing like the Standing Stones. I'm wondering if the kids can pass thru and navigate the Standing Stones without the aid of a gemstone. I really want Claire's and Jamie's family back with them.

What do you think?

I'm getting better at saying 'no'. I 'wanted' to say no, but if someone doesn't tell these parents our expectations of the parents and children next year, then we as Teachers have failed with this opportunity, IMO. We send home notes of expectations, but most times many parents do not read them. In the past we have had orientation night. We didn't get to have that this past year with the move. We want one this year, but our new Principal doesn't know if he will have one. Soooo I'm taking any opportunity I can get to talk to parents about what to expect.

I'm a bit surprised that someone I know who I wouldn't expect to like the film saw it yesterday afternoon and really enjoyed it, but I think the last time I went to a movie house was in 2003! We don't have one in the town where I live and it's a pain to get to one so I might wait until the Region 2 DVD is available and see if I can get it cheap.
Maxi
Vin - interesting theories regarding time-travelling aspects of the Outlander series. In my opinion, it would make sense if the grandchildren had the dominante traits. Wonder if she'll explore this more later on? I hope so. Did you see that there's a new book in the series due in September? Says so on her homepage. grin.gif I guess I'll wait for the paper back though, since they are usually fairly long, too heavy to lie down and read the hardback copy imo wink.gif

It was fairly wrapped up IMO but I'm excited to see another one in the works. I like the idea presented at the end with the letters being left as the connection. What I don't want is for there to be another big time jump and have the grandkids go back to OLD Jamie and Claire altho I can see that as the ending. I'd rather not let Claire and Jamie get much older and have the family back together as a whole. I really want Roger to be able to sing again also. Hopefully he gets operated on in present time. I adore they bought Lallybroch current day.

I'm really enjoying the audios. The reader is VERY good! Best female reader I've ever heard. For some reason I'd rather hear men "lighten" their voices to read women's dialog, rather than hear a woman drop her voice for a man's dialog. This woman does well and bless her heart. the books run mostly in the 40's for hours. She's caught up everything up to Snow and Ashes. They have Snow and Ashes with another reader but abridged down to 6 hours. I'm like "how in hell to you cut a 1700 page book down to 6 hours??? "

Christina asked a lot of the same questions I've see others ask and JM gave some pat answers. Some new stuff. Goodness his hair is really curly when it gets long.

The picture used in the James Marsters interview here is the one from the Paley fest. He was just off a 20 hour flight from Mexico thing and was beyond exhausted. Could hardly keep his peepers open. But I am, of course, thrilled to see the interview.

Yes, Wildbehr, I will be at FX. I'll PM you about it. nod.gif

] I felt I had to do it even though I do want to kick myself for it too. Oh, and I found out it will be for all of the PreK in the district, not just my school eek.gif And thanks for the vote of confidence hug.gif It's been a while since I've made a long speech to a room full of adults.

Lori, you are doing such a good deed for the parents and the other teachers. The parents who show up are the ones who want to hear what you have to say, so you will have a willing, interested and enthusiastic audience. If that doesn’t make you breathe easier about giving a speech, just imagine all of them in their underwear. wink.gif …. grin.gif You will be great! ….Lori, you just went “poof” and disappeared. I figured you had maybe fallen and didn’t want to bother reloading MSN because you were about to go to sleep.gif ….Thanks for the link to MB’s James Marsters interview. I enjoyed reading it.

Nana, I really loved Mad World when I first heard it in the movie Donnie Darko. I downloaded the original version. I don’t watch AI, so I haven’t heard the version you got.

SO47, if you don’t live near a movie theater, then by all means wait for the DVD to come out. There are some movies that really should be seen on the big screen, but Let The Right One In doesn’t fall into that category. …You haven’t been to a movie theater since 2003? I think you’re overdue. wink.gif

Maxi, the twilight extras are fun – especially the deleted scenes (good choice in deleting them from the final version of the movie IMO). The commentary is interesting. Kristen and Rob, and for the most part Catherine are very giddy and silly as they make their comments. You could tell that Rob most especially and Kristen, somewhat, were uncomfortable watching themselves onscreen.

Berry, I told Michelle in Yonkers that you were looking for her post about our encounter with James Marsters at the Dragonball screening. She said she might call you, too. ….Did you see Dragonball yet?

bawl.gif Roswell Viewing Party people, I won't be able to join you this week. bawl.gif I have tickets to the Doctor Horrible panel at the Paley Fest that night. I'll be thinking about you.

Lori school's okay, but hectic (hey nothing new there wink.gif) I'm about to start scheduling the teacher - parent meetings shortly. I've had this week off because of Easter though, it's been both much needed and nice. How's your group progressing? smile.gif

I have to start my conferences in another two weeks. I hate doing them in the middle of testing, but that is the way it is. I have a GREAT group of kids. Super! The best I have had in years smile.gif

Tek, most of the audience will indeed be captive. Many are Head Start parents, and they are required to be there as part of the agreement for their children being in HS.
As for the 'Dr. Horrible' panel...I want detailed notes taken grin.gif
And you were the one that disappeared last night. I will tell you about it later tonight smile.gif

wave.gif to all posting!

Happy Easter to all who celebrate smile.gif
I need to get up extra early for Church or I will be left without a parking spot close by lol.gif

I spent today doing lots of laundry, baking dozens of chocolate chip cookies, cleaning my floor with vinegar and then polishing it, and making my hair color look better rolleyes.gif grin.gif
I still have a long list of things to do though look.gif

Dragonball: Evolution has arrived (with absolutely no publicity) in movie theaters this weekend. I took my reluctant husband and he was entertained. He said it was the best movie he'd seen this year (but, I admit, he doesn't get to see as many movies as I do) . My main interest in this was to see what James Marsters did with the villain role "Piccolo" . He is only on screen for about 8 minutes but I think he created an alien villain that was everything it needed to be. For the rest, it was fun, action-packed and totally PG so a great movie if you have any youngsters you want to treat to a good show. If you go, sit thru the end credits...there is a little surprise there. cool.gif

And speaking of birthday.gif ...

birthday.gif Michelle in Yonkers (Well, one day late).

Spam, Capt. Underhill???

Berry, glad you and your husband liked Dragonball. I thought James was very good as Piccolo. You can see he had fun with the role.

Michelle in Yonkers and I went to see Fionn O'Louchlainn perform at a local club last night. He provided the singing voice for Jason in Shooting Livien. We had lots of fun. Finn was at a club that I used to go to in college! eek.gif It's still thriving... but, with less folk music than when I first went there. rotfl.gif

WOW!!! That is such great news Berry & Spam. ....blush.gif And I was thinking that Capt. Underhill was a character from BSG or Stargate Atlantis or some other show I don't watch. blush.gif I knew about his situation; I had just blanked on a connection with his name. What a wonderful Easter present for his family! Berry, thanks for setting me straight. smile.gif
