We're Over Thirty and Obsessed! Just like the title says!

smile.gif Everyone is welcome to post on the OTOs, BUT keep in mind this is a thread for Adults!
How do you know if this is the thread for you?
- Are the kids finally in bed or at practice somewhere and you need a moment with other Roswell Adults?
- Did your kids leave the nest and you no longer have to fight for the computer?
- You have no kids and enjoy posting with other Adult Roswell fans?
- Are you a mature 'under 30'?
Then this is the thread for you smile.gif

~ Poem by John aka Noseedough ~

Friendships are the best ships!
Our fun tips are the best quips,
and our pics...they rule the board
friendships are the best
we're definitely obsessed...
sometimes we may be hazy,
but we never do get stressed.
Some jump right in, don't be afraid
say what's on your mind
never fear...we all have strayed,
but fall right back in line.
We love you when you're different,
we love you when you're not,
we are the OTO's my friend,
the best that you have got!

woohoo.gif I have baby tomatoes on the vine. I'm thinking Farmer Tek should have a first harvest in a couple of weeks depending on the weather. I have 7 tomato plants. Vinity
Hey Tek grin.gif I keep wanting to put some tomatoes in but I seem to manage it. I've got a horrible brown thumb.

I may try and get to the CDI in Raleigh. Friend Anne will be showing there. Not sure I can sit up for the drive or actually sit and watch much. It's next weekend. Is this Memorial weekend??? I didn't realize?

Hi di! wave.gif

LTL
di_m Me, five, on Star Trek! In fact I was trying to decide if I want to see it again this weekend. But the weather is so nice -- for a change! -- I'll probably go to the pool instead.

jero: That was a cool.gif photo! I was guessing it was somebody's artfully arranged coin collection.

Lori: Hope sleeping knocked out your headache. How much summer school are you planning this year?

Vin: It's easy to tell you do non-traditional work. The rest of us Dilberts count the days between three-day weekends. grin.gif

Nosee: Speaking of boardwalks rolleyes.gif when do you hit OC again?

Tek: Great garden! We won't see tomatoes for another 4 weeks probably. Mr. LTL is in charge of them since I seem to be a plant killer.

WildB: Another late birthday.gif I should know better since you share the day with one of my sisters (as I say every year).

Today I made one of my dreaded semi-annual clothes shopping trips. Typical of why I hate doing this -- I came home with 3 different sizes of clothes, depending on the style. Sheesh! Makes it a lot of fun when you're trying to decide which one to try on. At least that's over for a few months. tongue.gif

I did have fun picking up some adorable outfits for The Perfect Grandchild. grin.gif

I can't seem to shake the headache sad.gif
I haven't taught summer school in a few years. They no longer have my age group. Last summer we moved campuses so I spent all summer on school stuff. This summer I am painting inside and outside (that is the plan), attending 2 workshops, and doing school prep at home. I will return to work the last week or so of July.
Since Momma died I know longer like shopping for clothes. I look horrible.
I'm so glad you have fun shopping for TPG though smile.gif
My son said 'Star Trek' was 'eh'. Should I claim him? rolleyes.gif

I had a horrible night and ended up making breakfast at 3. School issue that is stressing me that shouldn't be an issue. Headache won't go away.

Anyways,I wrote my Aunt that lives in the States a huge e-mail OH! darn it,, sad.gif I was going to ask her about the coins. I'm to tired to think anymore,I'll try & get in here,& re-read the threads & answer you all before my friend from outta town arrives. smile.gif

Jero~ Took me a sec to realize the nailgun rolls. grin.gif great pic grin.gif My nail gun, which is one of my favorite tools, is a impulse gun, uses a LP cartridge instead of air and the nails are a boring connected line with small heads. It will shoot thru 3 inches of dried Oak tho grin.gif damn cool!!!

Vin, tomatoes are so easy to grow; it’s amazing. And cherry tomatoes are the easiest. Just dig a hole, put some 3 month fertilizer in the hole, plant the tomato and then “add water.” It makes for a great crop all summer long. Depending on the variety you plant, it takes about 2 months for a small 2” plant to bear fruit. I don’t think you need a green thumb to be successful. Just remember to water as needed. That’s it. …I hope you’re able to see your friend Anne show her horse.

LT, shopping for baby clothes is a real joy; shopping for one’s own clothes, not so much. I can empathize with your “what size do I need” dilemma. I often bring in 2 or 3 sizes of the same garment into the dressing room. ….I hope you have a great crop of tomatoes.

Lori hug.gif I hope you wake up feeling better tomorrow. When does your school end? (Or did I miss that your school year is over?) …..I wish you could come over and pick tomatoes. I’m going to have bushels and bushels of them. ….You sould go see Star Trek. You’ll like it.

I think the general consensus is a big thumbsup.gif for Star Trek. I saw Wolverine today. I thought it was good.

wave.gif Hello! Happy Memorial Day!

I'm going to see Star Trek again today with a friend who has not seen it yet. Then we are heading to the mall for some window shopping. grin.gif Indoor activities incase it rains. grin.gif
Vinity
Morning all wave.gif

I LOVE that nail gun grin.gif It's this one grin.gif I have to use dried unfinished oak for the horses. Anything softer they eat for lunch lol.gif It's like steal. Ican't drive a 3 inch or any inch nail thru it with a hammer. I used to drill a pilot hole then nail. I've worked along men who were too "manly" for drilling pilot holes and I always beat them nail for nail as they had to keep pulling out bent ones and start again lol.gif THEN I got the nail gun!! Goes thru oak like it's nothing with a full LP cartrage, less so when the cartrage is getting less than 1/3 full. It will still shoot thru pine or softer woods then. It's also great because it's cordless and I have last count 8500 running feet of fence line eek.gif and someone is having to fix fencing almost all the time now bawl.gif I can't do it.

Also found there is a crack in a pipe at the pump house sad.gif have to call a plummer. sad.gif

wave.gif Tek, Have you seen Angels & Demons? I am finally going to see it tommorow, with my nephew.

I am meeting him after he gets off school, we both have to go to a meeting at the theater, & since we are there, we are going to see a movie, & after that I get to go play cards .as I get out just in time for the second game. hurray.gif

Jero- I have seen ads on in the flyers for those tomatoe trees. you get the plant & pot for like $10.00 or you can get the "hanging bag" does the same thing I would so love to have one, but my cats get into "everything" okay well one does, & then the other one "copycats" the other,:lamo: pun joke there.

Gosh I had such a boring week, last week, & now this weeks a total spineyes.gif right-off.

So today was the 2nd "last " birthday to celebrate before the months over, I will send out a card to my cousin & mail it tommorrow.

Well today's
birthday" wasn't so great, as you know my cousins & Mom & I went to the cematary, today their Mom would of been 60. so a lot of bawl.gif today., a lot of rembering stories, some laughs, but yeah mostly sad.gif .

But you know if you smoke 3 1/2 packs a day, drink a bit more on the weekends, & eat like crap, then yeah not a long life you'll lead.

So later on this week, My Nephew & I are going to go do some volunteering for the "United Way" so all the kids from the highschools go to the theater, watch movies all night for $20.00. I have no idea if I'll be stuck in a show( hopefully I will though grin.gif thumbsup.gif) or handing out popcorn & drinks.

I did make my nephew laugh as I said "god, can you see me in the theaters ,little bitty that I am, & be like "security" to the kids, I'd be like, you got booze in that, hand it over, or at least share it.lmao.gif ( thumbsup.gif) " Or "Hey! look here comes the fun part".( spoiling movies). well really I can't actually "spoil" any of these movies ,because they are all re-runs. mostly on DVD rentals now.

I just hope I don't get stuck in the "Zohan",. Or The Love Guru. rolleyes.gif they were so bad, I thought some parts of those movies were funny, but mostly thought they were stupid. lol.gif I want to be in the "Ironman" one.thumbsup.gif

okay gota go watch t.v. shows I taped all last week, be back later on.wave.gif

P.S. Lori I hope your okay now, & well rested up. hug.gif

Tekgirl
HMQ, I haven't seen Angels and Demons yet, but I did read the book. Of course, the plot is so beyond belief and then end is even more beyond belief, but it was a fun read. I liked it better than The Da Vinci Code. I do plan to see the movie. ... So you're going to be "security" at a movie theater? Don't forget to wear your shoulder pads and other defensive equipment. wink.gif Nice of you to volunteer for the United Way. ...I never grew "upside down" tomatoes, but I have seen the gizmo for sale on TV infomercials.

Lori R
Vinity, LTL, jero, HMQ, Sugarkane, Wild, di m wave.gif

Tek I DID see 'Star Trek' right after it came out. AND 'Wolverine'. I enjoyed both.
I wanted to see 'Night at the Museum' or 'Angels and Demons' today, but once I got near the theater I lost the will to go. I wanted to do something with someone and there wasn't anyone to do anything with so I came home.

I purchased a new mattress today. This is HUGE since mine is a hand me down King LONG past its prime. I did down size to a Queen though. I watched 'CSI: NY' and 'Bones' reruns all afternoon.

Thanks for the 'feel better' thoughts all. I am stressed and depressed right now is all. It's making myt health and my sleeping not so hot right now. This is the last week of school and I'm down to the wire on getting my summer 'flex day's approved. So far none have been. Without those I don't get full holiday time. It's a long story and a HUGE complaint with me. I also have to do all of the 'end of year' things that need to be done which is not going smooth for any of us since we are all on a new campus with new rules.
I'll survive, but right now I'm just banghead.gif help.gif

I hope you all have a great week.

And thanks to our Vets in the US for all they have done for us and to those that gave their lives.
Vinity
Hope this week goes well Lori hug.gif

I just realized why Michael is being difficult to get to do his work. He must think school is close to being over lol.gif little does HE know. lol.gif I'm not sure how many days we'll take as school days during the trip. I mean good lord! It's not like it wasn't educational. It might be the longest field trip in history.

We finally got his transcript done today {hate dealing with those cell-type templets mad.gif} so he can go to the community college for some of his classes next year. It's frustrating cause they are making him retake one math he's already done so he can take the advanced class mad.gif I wanted them to test him. I mean he placed in the high 80's percentile in Calculus/Trig on his college entrance/year end test and they STILL making him take pre-calculus mad.gif grrr! At least the school is close, I doubt he'll be driving himself by then.
Nana J.
Jero - Interesting nail heads. Heck of a way to spend the holiday weekend. Hot and hard work. I hope your son appreciates all you are doing for him.

Lori - Drat! Wish I could fix that headache! Sounds like a stressful week coming up. At least you should be getting some time off soon.

Vin - Bet you are so glad to be able to do regular things again--though for a short time. Won't be long until you are "back in the saddle" health wise.

LTL - Yes, shopping for baby is much more fun than shopping for ourselves. Did you get to the pool?

I had seven girls for a slumber party Saturday night. Still haven't got my house (or myself) back together. I stood on my feet too long waiting on the girls and I can hardly walk. Fortunately, I have some hand sewing to do and that was a nice break. My grandgirls left late morning today so I have had the afternoon off to sit and sew.
Still working on that church banner. I don't know when we have had such wonderful weather for a three day holiday weekend. I bought an umbrella for our deck as it gets the morning sun. Should be very nice if the wind doesn't take it away!

I've converted my youngest grandgirl to an Adam Lambert fan. His duet with Allison singing "Slow Ride" did the trick. She liked the video of him singing with Kiss, too. I was hoping his duet with Kris Allen of We Are the Champions would be available at iTunes, but I haven't seen it there.

Onward.

Buffy fans, if you want to get in on the Kerfluffle head on over to Whedonverse. Lori, congrats on getting your new mattress! Do you love it? (Are you used to it yet?) Maybe you’ll inspire me to get one, too. Mine is so overdue to be replaced. ….Congrats on getting your flex days approved.

Vin, what a waste of Michael’s time to have to take that pre-calc class. Maybe once his professor sees how proficient he is, he could pull some strings to get Michael into a more advanced math class? ….You got an iPod touch? I’m tempted to get one since my 20 gb iPod expired, but I may wait until August when my cell phone contract is up and get an iPhone. Then I wouldn’t have to carry both an iPod and a phone. ....I've been having problems with MB, too. I couldn't get on last night either. Maybe the site was down for maintenance? ….Thanks for the info on the BTVS petition. I signed it (with a nom d' plume). Don’t you hate it when people get greedy and cash in on something – and isn’t that always the way things work? sad.gif The comments on the petition site are great. My favorite comment that I read was,"I won''t even pirate it (the movie) off the internet." rotfl.gif

jero, how exactly does it work to make an upside down tomato planter? Do you cut a hole in the bottom of the bucket and plant the tomato upside down? What about drainage? Drill more holes in the bucket? I don’t think I’ll be trying it this year. I already have 8 tomato plants – waaaay too many, but I always seem to buy more tomato plants than I need. whitey.gif I have one ripe cherry tomato! I think I’ll give it one more day on the vine before I eat it. …You got a lot done on your vacation. smile.gif

Lori: Congrats on getting your flex days OK'd and the new mattress. Why does it take us so long to replace mattresses? Maybe because they cost so much, and no one ever sees them?? Mine is barely sleepable, and we haven't even talked about getting a new one. lol.gif

~~~~healing vibes~~~~ coming your way.
jeri: Nice work on the house! applause.gif I agree you should submit the photo to some contest.
Vinity: Bummer about Michael being forced to take pre-calc. The college classes tend to go fast, though, so he might welcome being familiar with the material already.
You crack me up -- you talk about a nail gun the way some people talk about a new car. grin.gif
NanaJ: Hope you've recovered from the slumber party. You are such a good grandmother. Maybe the pain to your feet will be the banner's gain.
Tek: Ooh, an iPhone would be a cool.gif new toy.
wave.gif WildB, Berengaria, Vicki, Sugarkane!
Ack -- we have to skip a weekend visiting with The Perfect Grandchild because Mr. LTL has to get ready for the summer camp he runs. I'm still trying to persuade him he can get all the work done on Saturday so we can go on Sunday.
Nana J.
Vin - I guess you'll have to take the attitude that having a class where Michael knows the stuff will be easy credit for him. Say "hi' to him from me. Wish he could inspire my grandson to studying.
I'm laing on my lawn swing typing this. Ah, the life!
Just got a magazine with one of my songs in it--a surprise. Didn't know this other company was going to publish it. Bummer, though--it looks like they left out some words. Wish it were due to editing--but I think it was a mistake so it makes the song less useable. Drat.
I finished what I am going to do on this church banner. Wish I could say it was beautiful--but it is merely adequate. At least I won't have to cringe if someone says I worked on it.
Tomorrow I will work on the duck costume. The next day take a lunch to my cousin. And then my husband will be back.
Did I tell you I read that Mars will be closer than it has been in recorded history in August of this year? I'm thinking of buying a telescope from the Crane company. We go to Orcas in August and have such a gorgeous sky there at night if the weather is clear. My granddaughter seems interested in that sort of thing and I like to encourage any interest she has as she is not a student.
I'm recovering from the sleepover.
Took me several days, though.
Glad you got your comp days, Lori!
Vinity
Itouch again.
Tek. How many gigs of storage does a iPhone have? I have well over 40 gigs in audio books alone. That is why I like having both. The only issue is not much battery time with the itouch.
Does anyone know if MobileMe is wireless net like the iPhones or do you still need a hotspot?
I'll have to post longer shoutouts when I get back to the laptop.
Lori R
LTL and Tek my mattress will be delivered on Saturday.
I tried out soooooo many over the past year. Mine had been my parents for years and it got passed to me several years ago. It has long worn out its comfort.
Nana I'm sorry the magazine left out or changed some of your lyrics.
How are your feet and legs today?
Vinity, Sugarkane, Vicki, jero wave.gif
I am taking the afternoon off tomorrow to attend my uncle's funeral.
Friday will be crazy trying to get perm records done and my room packed up.
HMQ, I haven't seen Angels and Demons yet, but I did read the book. Of course, the plot is so beyond belief and then end is even more beyond belief, but it was a fun read. I liked it better than The Da Vinci Code. I do plan to see the movie. ... So you're going to be "security" at a movie theater? Don't forget to wear your shoulder pads and other defensive equipment. wink.gif Nice of you to volunteer for the United Way. ...I never grew "upside down" tomatoes, but I have seen the gizmo for sale on TV infomercials
I finally saw Angels & Demons yesterday & then Terminator today I didn't think Terminator was overely great movie, more like watching the t.v. show. & I got confused in one part when they had John Conner as like a 40 year old & his Dad was like a 25 year old,? it was told he was in the future( John & everyone else) so that his dad was form the past pushed into the future.) no too werid.. & good special effects on what Arnold Swartz. "used to "look like, I'm so sure he is not like that now, he's too old for one thing eh.. lol.gif ) Good speed chases with those motorcycles,I really liked those cycles a lot, ever so cool, they ran on the sides & flippped over & still went on down the roads.)
not like the spoiler thing has any effect, everyone can still read it
The show on Friday I have no idea where they will be putting me, but for the ":new volunteers " I was the only one who took the "earilier shift".
