Last night I decided to watch an episode of 'The West Wing' before finishing the evening with BSG, and imagine who was guesting on TWW but Edward James Olmos (complete with dodgy mustache) Funny how often these coincidences happen. Tonight I will be watching 'Daybreak' episodes on BSG - just hope the series doesn't end with a whimper.

Mid-season 6 of BtVS has dipped a bit after 'Tabula Rasa' and 'Smashed'. 'Gone' felt more like a S1 story. I'm enjoying TWW - very good writing and characters.

For UK viewers with Satellite Pay TV, True Blood will be on FX channel soon. Maybe it will be picked up later by free to view channel so I can see what the fuss is about

SO47 - it's a small acting world sometimes Last night I caught a rerun of JAG and it was the episode (hadn't seen it before actually) where D.B. Woodside guest starred. He had an important part in BtVS season 7.

Am I hot? Yeah. Looks like the heatwave is back again. Though, they had predicted it so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Tek - I will get back to you before we leave for the States. However, we've yet to do some proper planning. Life and everything sort of has come in between the planning.

We're going to see HP on Wednesday when it's premiering here. I want to see the Transformers too before I leave, since I know it's only airing in my local theatre this weekend until Tuesday evening. Tuesday is out of the question, since I have other plans then. We'll see if I feel like going tonight in this heatwave or not.

Can I get a "hell yeah!!" .......on the hot?

I have to go back and read thread but I just want to say again F*CK RTD. I hope he's ruined his career. He got too big and people quite editing him. If i have to see another Dalek or Cyberman again I'll scream!! I'm perfectly fine with gays. Some of my best friends were gays but his gay soapbox is very old and now he screws with Torchwood. He needs to look at the book that is too-big-for-his-pants Chris Carter! You can only screw the fans so long before they bite {or don't bite} back. I hope CC is hell for him. He's always said he didn't like interacting with fans. Well how about a lot od ANGRY fans. His only hope is Torchwood won't be finished by the time of CC. Thanks Heavens DW has Moffat as show runner. I've been ready for 2 years but now it's essential.

I went to the TwiLOL. It took me a full 30 seconds to figure out Biology. I hate that kind of stuff. It fries my brain.

What's the consensus, can I go car shopping with a small coffee stain on my boob? {stupid boob, in the way} I don't want to change shirts or go with a huge water mark from trying to wash it while on.

For those interested. Video of Neil Gaiman reading The Graveyard Book. One chapter for each stop on his book tour. You can hear and see him read the entire book. I'm not sure how long it will be up. The Graveyard Book I love it.

It might be too late for this response, but I keep a little tube of Tide to Go on my bag. It takes the spot right out and dries really quickly.

It's still hot here too. I think we're now at 26 or 27 days so far with highs over 100. It was 106 on Wednesday. We need a break. Some rain would help. The area is still in a drought. They're telling us that the "El Nino" pattern is developing in the Pacific which will give us a wet fall and winter but that doesn't help us now. The lake that I used to post pictures of is down forty feet from the flood plane elevetion and dropping two feet a week. I don't own that property any longer but I'll have to go out there and snap a few pics.

I hope you folks gearing up for CC have a great time. We want to see lots of pics. Remember Tekkie, there's stuff there besides Twilight. Have fun.

Thanks for the thread start, Lori! And, no, I'm not hot! A friend and I went to the swim meet this morning, and it was chilly at 9 am. It's supposed to be 84 degrees now, but it's cloudy and there's a chilly breeze coming through the window.

British OTOs who enjoy history: I picked up two great books at a yard sale, part of an Oxford U. series called "A Short Introduction to..." The ones I got were on the Anglo-Saxon Age and Medieval Britain. The first one was very well-written, but the second one has me scratching my head at times. The authors kept switching among Edward I, II, and III, and referring to each of them as just Edward.

Did the Mediaeval one also mention Edward the Black Prince - just another Edward to cope with They were all Edwards and Henrys

I studied Anglo-Saxon history too, and with so many of the names it's very hard to know how to pronounce them at all. So then I started to learn Old English which is a real education to show the Germanic roots of English. The town where I live was established at the latest in the 11th century so the Anglo-Saxons walked and lived here all those hundreds of years ago

So I have now reached the end of BSG, and I really did like the finale it seems now inevitable that it would end with them reaching "our" Earth" to make a new start, somehow very in touch with what the original intentions might have been without making it too cheesy. And of course "their" Earth being a red herring and not "our" Earth" was a nice twist. Maybe it's just relief that it didn't end with a suicidally depressive ending LOL. The reference of Hera to Mitochondrial Eve was clever . I don't think they delivered a real 10/10 finale - after such a build up it was almost impossible but for me definitely not a disappointment or anti-climax. It'll be great to watch it all again.

Great documentary on the making of the music on the DVD extras, IMO the music has been really stunning throughout and Bear McCreary has set new standards on original music score for a TV series - but it might just be because I love heavy syncopated percussion and the crossover of Eastern and Western styles.

In the past two weeks we've had the move from 90 F to 50 F and now back to 90F with pretty much everything in between. Anyhow, the extreme highs of 90 aren't likely to last all that long so pack for 70-75F daytime which is pretty normal and chillier in the evenings.

I did wash my boob stain. Turns out it had time to dry. Productive car shopping adventure. Drove a Highlander, my fav so far cause you can get hybrid but it's DV's day car and he felt it was too big. His Mercedes sedan isn't much smaller but it's got amazing turn radius. Went to go look at a Nissan worst dealership ever. Took the guy 10 minutes to even come out from the back. The car we wanted to drive which is the companies vest selling didn't even have one on the lot to test drive. Test drove a smaller version and it was flimsy feeling. We won't even bother going back when they get the one we were interested in NEXT month. The biggest surprise was the Hyundai Santa Fe. we still have to go look at $$$ stuff in Raleigh.

LT~ We've cooled off a bit the last few days but tomorrow back into the 90's still better than usual for this time of year. But very dry.

Ironed today. Have been trying to wade through the boxes of stuff I have... toss it or save it?

Anyone know how to get odor out of a dresser drawer? It had a scented sheet in it and it now makes all of the clothes smell ick. Baking soda isn't getting rid of the odor? Suggestions? I only know of charcoal.

I finally watched the final ep of Torchwood. Thankfully I was spoiled so I was prepared. I would not have wanted to go into it a virgin. I actually watched the last ep. .....I've calmed down some but only slightly. The only way I'd watch more Torchwood is if they brought Captain John back as lead and even then I'd have a hell of a time trusting RTD. I've had issues with him for a while, both with Torchwood and Doctor Who. I don't like his soapboxes. I don't like his monsters. I really feel like he doesn't want to make any more TV {with his breaking into movies with the Doctor Who movie} and he was afraid the BBC would give his Torchwood toy to someone else and so he broke it.

The saddest thing is 90% of these 5 eps were brilliant TV. I just don't think, in these troubled times globally, it's a good idea to make this kind of TV. I'm a huge fan of dark but you just DON'T break your hero like that. It's too bleak. Hell, even BSG the darkest most hopeless show ever on ended with a possible hopeful message. This got JAMMED down our throats not just as a bitter pill but to choked and killed us. Buffy died TWICE but even with the real time in season 5 there was closure and she sacrificed herself. I was even fine with the S4 ending of Farscape cause again, Aeryn and John had closure. Dark stuff happens all the time on Doctor Who but they damage him but he doesn't break.

I really don't think that this mini will make the $$$ numbers on BBCa. I think a lot of people will be spoiled {how can you not} and people will chose not to watch. I also think this will kill DVD sales. I truely hope it breaks RTD's career. I hope he catches hell at CC. He's always had great disdain for interaction with any fans. As a matter of fact he's been downright rude about it. So he thinks fans can be bad, hell yeah, they can be and I hope to hell CC is every nightmare he's ever had.



Lori~ Have you tried something like Odoban/ Odorban??? I forget the exact name but you can get it at Walmart or Sams by the gallon. I use it if the cats pee on clothes or things.

We were about 87 degrees in the Seattle area today and that was too hot for us. It is cooling tomorrow. Sorry I can't send the cooler weather to a few of you.

Went to a Model T show today. These cars drove from New York to Seattle. Took most of them nearly a month at 35 miles an hour. Going 200 miles a day. Finale is tomorrow ending at the U of W campus.

Hubby bought a new digital camera--nothing fancy but it should do everything he wants. Its Cannon Powershot SX110 IS. It's fun to show an engineer how this new technology works (he had an ancient film camera.)

I'm watching Castle. He is fun to just watch. If I miss some dialogue, I don't mind.

Adam Lambert is getting good reviews after the concerts on the Idol tour. I'm enjoying watching the new articles come in...sort of following as his career heats up.

Maxi - I hope to see Harry Potter next week too.

I become sadder and sadder I'm not making CC this year. Neil Gaiman is going to be signing for 1 hour only after the Coraline panel. I'm sure the line will be horrific and he won't get to everyone but I'd kill to have a signed copy of The Graveyard Book. I should have grabbed one of the special signed editions from Subterranean Press but they were real pricey but now I bet they are worth bunches more as it's the 2009 Newbery winner. Gah!!........damn! I just checked. The lettered editions are sold out but the Limited of 500 signed by author and artist are still available but it's $250......should I do it?

Vin: Every time you look at the book, are you going to think, "Did I really pay $250 for that?" or are you going to get warm fuzzies and stroke the book lovingly? I think the latter??

Just finshed reading so many pages, stil can't find my last post on the other threead, so anyways the company leaves tommorrow so I should be able to come in here with proper shout outs ect, this week sometime.

I watched up 2 weeks of shows yesterday. The 2 parter of " Harpers Island" well I knew who the "other " killer was, it was predictable, gosh more & more shows & movies are doing this to me, werid eh. But it was stilll not as goo of a show as it could of been, & with all the missing & repeating of the show. it kinda sucked. But you know that lead guy looks simular to Jason Behr did anyone else think the same thing?

okay gota go eat something, agian I'll try & get in here sometime this week.

HMQ I watched 'Harper's Island'. ITA that they could have done more, but I liked it. I didn't want the killer to be who it was. The reason for all of the killing was flimsy to me, but I liked the characters, so I don't feel like I wasted my time watching it.

SO47, I loved “The West Wing.” It was one of the smartest, wittiest, most thought-provoking shows on TV in a long time. I miss it. …As far as what all the “fuss” is about re: True Blood, it’s just so addicting. You’ll find out when you get a chance to see it. I told a friend about it and now she and her hubby are hooked.


Maxi, the twi-LOL is silly and goofy, but endearing, too. It made me laugh. …Not to worry about plans for LA. I’m flexible. I’m just excited that you’ll be here in less than2 weeks. ….I saw Transformers today. It was exactly what I expected. It got a 17% rating (out of 100%) on Rotten Tomatoes, so my expectations weren’t very high. It sure looked good, though. …I am all excited to see the new Harry Potter movie this weekend.

Hey OTO's!

Just got back home from very busy day. We started at 5 am heading to the lake. Couldn't get the boat to start. We did finally managed to get it going. We think the starter is going. Then we decided to take it all the way over to the mouth of the Grand Canyon. Lake level is too low to get real close. We then get a call from our good friends who have been planning on getting married and they decided to do that tonight at the JP downtown. So we got back in the boat, after swimming for a bit, and headed back to shore. After the wedding, we went to the Golden Nugget for dinner. We are now home and drained! ONLY IN LAS VEGAS!

Tek~ Did RTD mess up Torchwood? Hard to answer, much of the series was the best it's ever been barring KKBB {for entertainment value}. It had LOTS of great things to say but I'm not sure it was worth the price RTD made us pay in the end. At first I was angry, then numb, then ....I ended up just drugging myself and going to bed. I would suggest in this case being spoiled. You might not be willing to pay the price to even start watching. I really do think BBCa numbers will be down. I hope RTD gets some flack. Barrowman did come out before it aired and said he felt he was being punished for being popular. I didn't realize what that meant till after. In the end I'm glad I watched it but I'm very glad I got inadvertently spoiled for day 4 and actively hunted spoiler for day 5. I would not have wanted to go into it virgin. I held onto the DL for nearly 2 days before I could bring myself to watch. Having been spoiled it wasn't actually as bad as I imagined, prolly because I was ready for it, but I'll never trust RTD again.

RTD never does cons and has actively avoided fans saying he doesn't agree with creative people who listen and encourage their fans {like Joss or JM} I'm thinking CC {his first time} will be HELL for him. The ONLY saving grace MIGHT be Torchwood won't have finished day 4&5 by the con, but I'm guessing the tech savvy people at CC will know how to see a UK edition early.

Well, that explains a lot. I don't think he'll have quite the time in LA as he thinks. I think he's been treated as so special in UK but he's very niche here. I heard that he's doing the Doctor Who movie. I guess the plan to move will be after that? The only way I'd watch Torchwood again is if Captain John stepped in. For one thing, while Barrowman is adorable as a scoundrel he doesn't really have the acting chops for much of what Torchwood should have required. Now JM has shown he can go anywhere, to any depths a character needs to be and to beat it all he can turn emotion on a dime. I still don't trust RTD.

On a slightly different note. Neil Gaiman is a huge Doctor Who fan and he's hinted he might be willing to write an ep for Moffat my dream team.

Uh, unless RTD killed off the whole cast – and more importantly John Barrowman at the end of the Torchwood mini-series, I guess that means we might spot John Barrowman in LA (and even closer to me – in West Hollywood)? …And that we might be in close proximity to RTD to lob a few rotten tomatoes at him?

No, Tek, it means that RTD is no longer involved with the running of any potential Season 4 for Torchwood (which we already knew about) .

Tek~ You can read the blackfont here or go over to Torchwood thread where it's discussed more. No one goes into a lot of details but you'll read what everyone is upset over. I will say again I wouldn't wanted to see the last two days unspoiled. I'm not sure if I'd have watched the last series at all if I knew. And I think that would be ashame. 90% of the last series was brilliant and the ending made sense, but I just don't think the writers should have played it that way, and I don't think the character we knew would have responded that way. One thing was I really thought they should have put the Gwen speech about the Doctor at the very first so people had a hint of what was coming.

I guess that depends on how you spent your weekend... I spent all weekend taping and mudding the kitchen ceiling at Boy1's house... Working on the walls during the week. ~sigh~
