Nathan I see you fooling around with a different every week, almost every week, well except Brooke, which i find weird that you have interested in her since every single guy in our school drolls when she walks by" i sigh "sometimes i feel like we are like..from the different worlds or something"

Nathan---"I am not saying I am a saint or any thing. I do not care about ny of those girls Haley. They are good to have around at times but than they can leave. You...you are different but that is a good thing."

hE says i am different and i don´t knowif he is meaning or not, it feels like he is saying the truth but i am confused especially after what Brooke told me. I sigh then swallow "thanks.."

Nathan----I look at her "Hey let's make this deal Haley...we will not judge each other on what other people have said or what we think we know about each other. I want to get to know you ..the girl you are......I would like for us to be ourselves around each other and leave all the school crap out of it. I like talking to you and I know you do not think so but you are really very pretty."

I look at him then think about it 'yeah ok." he says he likes talking to me and i am very pretty "you are the first person who told me that"

Nathan---"People who do not see all the goodness in you are idiots. You totally know who you are and what you will take and wont take from others. I wish I could do that. I let other people influence me way too much."

I listen to him and i am really confused cuz when Nathan is with me he is like this whole other person...but then Brooke told me he just wanted to go to bed with me.. "i don`t know why people worry so much about what the others think, sometimes i find high school so stupid"

Nathan---"I wish I did not worry about other people. I guess being a jock in the school we are in I felt like I had to be a certain way. That I could not go against what other people thought was the right way to be. I am not saying I did not enoy having every one think I am this great guy and having all the girls I wanted. I am just tired of it. Life has to be more than just that."

"I guess having everyone you want can get tiring."

Nathan----"Yeah being given every thing you ever want is not such a good thing. I know a lot of times I am an ass hole and I hurt people but there is nothing I can do about that. I am trying to change but it is so hard when people know me as one thing. That is why I like you. You are easy to talk to and you do not know about all the crap that has happened."

Nathan----"That is easy for you to say. You do not have a brother like Lucas or friends like Brooke or Tim or any of the guys on the team. They make things impossible."

Nathan----"I wish it were that easy. Luke already gives me a hard time about wanting to spend time with you. They just do not get me at all." I look in to her eyes "You are the only one who seems to get me."

Nathan----"You do not know if what is true?" Haley looks down. "Haley..you are very pretty. You have beautiful eyes. Once you get out of that place guys will start knocking your door down."

Nathan----"Maybe high school idiot guys are that shallow. Than they get to college and realize what is important. Anyways you have both brains and you are very pretty. Brooke and girls like her flaunt it is all."

"Maybe so, that is why i focus on studies and college, that is what is important to me"

Nathan----"You are smart for doing that. All I have is basket ball. I have never cared very much for school and I have never done very well. All I am really good at is b ball and parties and getting girls."

"Yeah...that`s..thatPs what I`ve heard.." i swallow then look at the window "uh...so where are we going, cuz i am starving"

Nathan----I can tell she is really nervous to be here with me like this. Haley is so easy to talk to and I have never met any one that I feel like I can be myself around and she will not judge me. It is like she sees thru all my crap and sees the real me. I am starting to really care about her which is not a good thing. I am not used to caring about girls. I guess I get lost in my thoughts because Haley says my name and I realize she has said the same thing twice. "Oh...um...what was that?"

Nathan----"Oh ok...yeah...I am fine. Well where would you like to go? What do you like to eat?"

"Well, i eat anything, except salad, i hate it"

Nathan----"What is your favorite food Haley James?"

'Ma-! uh...nevermind..i..i eat anythin g"

Nathan----"Come on Haley...I really want to know. What is your favorite food?"

"Ok...but you hve to promise not to laugh" he nods "ma-mac and cheese..it`s my favourite food, alrigth?"

Nathan---"Oh okay" I try not to laugh "That is cool. Well there is an Italian place not too far and I think they have mac and cheese."

Haley

"I know it is a silly food but I love it!"

Nathan----"Well it is not lobster but I guess it is good. We never had too much mac and cheese in our house. My parents are too sophisticated for it."

Haley

"I don`t like lobster" he looks at me "well, i don´t think it tastes good, as matter fact it doesnt taste anything,, it`s ..blah!" i chuckle "i love mac and cheese, my mom used to make it a lot when i was a kid and sometimes she does it too, but KAren makes the best one, she adds some other stuffs that make her mac and cheese different and the best"

Nathan----"Well it seems we have different taste in food. Mac and cheese is ok some times but like I said it was not some thing my mom made very much of. We usually went out to dinner at nights. My mom was too tired to cook and both my parents wanted to be seen. It was so stupid."

"so i guess you have some fancy taste..on food"

Nathan----"I guess. I can take a good burger and I love pizza but yeah my taste is not typical of most teen age guys."

Nathan----?My taste in a lot of things is a lot different than most guys." I look at her to see if she gets what I am saying.

He looks at me and I get nervous "uh..are we near the place??"

Nathan----"It is not too far from here. So what did you think of the game?"

"It was good. i mean your team won so i think it was a good game"

Nathan---"Well I told you we would win. I do not know why Whitey set me out those few minutes...I could have scored a lot more. Now I will hear itfrom my dad how I am not as good as him."

Haley

"Whitey is a very wise man Nathan, you should listen to him" he looks at me "i know him a little, he goes to the cafe often, orders the same thing, talks to Karen and even with me, he is like..a Yoadda or something, so if he 'picks on you' it is because he cares, besides there arem ore things in life than basket ball, that is what WHitey always says"

Nathan----"Try telling that to my dad. According to him I should live and breathe b ball 24---7. He gets so pissed when Whitey makes me leave a game. Some times I wish I could just stop playing. Maybe things would be better."

"why do you do it? I mean basket ball it is suposed to be fun or something, not a thing that gives you headache"

Nathan---"I have never really thought of why I play. I just always have. My dad never rides Luke like he does me. I..I do not know Haley...some times I just think it would be easier not to play."

"maybe you shouldn`t... i mean if it doesn`t make sense and it is not fun anymore..maybe you should take a break and find what really matter to you" i say looking at him. "Find that thing that makes your heart race, makes you happy and proud of yourself"

Nathan---"My dad would never let me quit. I...I have no idea what I would do if I did. Sorry for making this dat serious...these things are supposed to be fun..."
