Trucco is in it LOTS from what I have gathered from someone who has already seen it (no, not talking about Trucco. Don't know if he has.)

I think we'll all enjoy it.

Also, if they sell 300,000 + units (DVDs), there is a good chance that more movies like these will be made.

Go out and pre-order it now everyone!!!

I hope you have all put in your pre-orders. Now's the time!

Trucco plays Sam Anders, Captain of the Caprica Buccaneers, doing high altitude training with his Pyramid Team.

I do believe there is some Pyramid there.

FYI, those Pyramid nets are harder to score in than you think. They are angled differently so just throwing the balls at the net will NOT get it in. You can throw 50 of the pyramid balls and you'd be lucky to even get one in.

Go get your copy of BSG: The Plan now!!!! bouncy.gif

"Battlestar Galactica Spinoff - The Plan

Battlestar Galactica - TV Series Logo - white background

Battlestar Galactica: The Plan is a spinoff movie from the science fiction TV series, Battlestar Galactica that aired on the Syfy Channel that came from the mind of Ronald D. Moore.

If you remember the opening monologue from each Battlestar Galactica (BSG) episode, we always heard that

“The Cylons are created by man, there are many of them, and some of them don’t know that they are Cylons. And they have a plan.”

This movie is that plan, The Plan. All stories have two sides. Right?

The Plan is a different look at the beginning of all the problems that humanity encountered. We find ourselves following the destruction of the human Colonies from the perspective of the Cylons.

This will give us a new look, an inside look at the attacks.

The Plan is coming out on DVD & Blu-ray first and then premiering in the fall on the Syfy Channel and will be directed by and star Edward James Olmos. Jane Espenson wrote the screenplay.

In fact, the tele-movie will come to the home theater market on October 27th.

The Plan recaps the attack on the Colonies, but from the Cylons side of the story and will star Michael Trucco, Aaron Douglas, Dean Stockwell, Tricia Helfer, Grace Park, Rick Worthy, Matthew Bennett, Callum Keith Rennie, Michael Hogan and Rekha Sharma.

Extras on the Blu-ray package will include:

♦My Scenes: Bookmark your favorite scenes from the movie.
♦Battlestar Galactica trivia game.
♦Deleted scenes .
♦”From Admiral to Director: Edward James Olmos and the Plan”: A day in the life with Olmos as he tackles the most ambitious Battlestar production to date.
♦”The Cylons of the Plan”: Features interviews with the actors who play the film’s key Cylons, including Stockwell, Helfer, Park, Trucco, Worthy and Bennett.
♦”The Cylon Attack”: This featurette takes viewers behind the scenes for the planning and execution of one of Battlestar Galactica: The Plan’s major action sequences.
♦”Behind the Plan”: An in-depth look at some stunning visual effects and the role post-production plays in bringing the world of Battlestar Galactica to life.
♦Filmmaker commentary.

The Plan will also star Michael Trucco, Aaron Douglas, Dean Stockwell, Tricia Helfer, Grace Park, Rick Worthy, Matthew Bennett, Callum Keith Rennie, Michael Hogan and Rekha Sharma."

"BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: THE PLAN Coming to DVD/Blu-ray Oct. 27
by Jeffrey Van Camp Posted:October 8th, 2009 at 11:50 am

Bryan Singer may be ready to reboot Battlestar Galactica (again) on the big screen, but the critically acclaimed Syfy series isn’t quite over. The show ended last Spring, but one last 90 minute special, Battlestar Galactica: The Plan, will be hitting DVD and Blu-ray October 27. Admiral Adama himself, Edward James Olmos directed the special, with Jane Espenson as a writer and executive producer. What it’s about and the DVD cover art after the jump.

As an epic fan of the series, I couldn’t be more excited about The Plan. The special is set to cover many of the major events of the series from the Cylons’ point of view. All the series regulars are back onboard. The DVD/Blu-ray version will have several deleted scenes not in the TV version. Hopefully we’ll get a few answers. The Plan was filmed as production was ending on the fourth season of the series.

Below are some details on the DVD/Blu-ray release, priced respectively at $26.99 and $39.99.

– A day-in-the-life with director and actor Edward James Olmos.

– Interviews with the actors who play the films key Cylons, including Dean Stockwell, Tricia Helfer, Grace Park, Michael Trucco, Rick Worthy and Michael Bennett.

– This featurette takes viewers behind the scenes for the planning and execution of one of Battlestar Galactica: The Plans major action sequences.

– An in-depth look at some stunning visual effects and the role post-production plays in bringing the world of Battlestar Galactica to life.

– Deleted scenes

And here’s the official synopsis:

Battlestar Galatica: The Plan.. The Cylons began as humanity’s robot servants. They rebelled and evolved and now they look like us. Their plan is simple: destroy the race that enslaved them. But when their devastating attack leaves human survivors, the Cylons have to improvise. Battlestar Galatica: The Plan tells the story of two powerful Cylon leaders, working separately, and their determination to finish the task.

An inspired, visually stunning reimagining of the 1978 series of the same name, Battlestar Galactica captured the imaginations of a new generation of fans with its gritty realism, compelling storylines and commanding performances. The show garnered numerous awards, including two Emmys and the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award and was recognized by the American Film Institute (AFI) as one of the most outstanding television programs of the year for two years running. In March 2009, Battlestar Galacticas impassioned explorations of todays hot-button issues, including politics, terrorism, treatment of prisoners and religion, even inspired the United Nations to host a special panel to discuss the questions it has raised. The series is from Universal Cable Productions and is executive produced by Ronald D. Moore and David Eick."

No pics are currently available from the screening. There was a strict no photography policy - makes sense.

Neither is a review until official ones are released.

However, BSG attendees were: EJO, Bodie, Kate Vernon, Brad and Dave, Kevin, Rick Worthy, Bear & Raya, Richard, and a whole slew of crew.

Thank you Seph for these details.

My only thing from having the DVD in possession but not having watched it... I LOVE the cover. Yeah, Trucco looks awesome both in the front AND back. WOOT! grin.gif

Warning: NOT SAFE FOR WORK.

Katee gives a quick interview regarding the dailies for "The Plan" which EJO directed.
(Dailies, btw, are the day's shoot. Basically rough footage, unedited, different shots, etc. You use these to make the good version that you see on tv or movies.)

Tsk, tsk, Troops.

What happened to the reviews and the discussions?

I KNOW you all watched it. Were you waiting for my input? I hope not.

In any case, I finally watched it all, including the Special features.

SPOILERS BELOW!-

I thoroughly enjoyed "The Plan." I thought it was well put together and acted out. As a BSG fan who has watched the series in its entirely several times, "The Plan" was amazing pay-off.

EJO said that after watching "The Plan," you would want to go back and rewatch the entire thing.
He was correct... sort of.

Thing is, I remembered where everything occurred due to my frequent rewatches and that made "The Plan" an incredible ride.

I loved the way the storyline weaved through existing ones, giving us a fuller view of events. I enjoyed watching the actors MUCH YOUNGER looking doing cameos. Absolutely loved it when put right next to the current ones and then you can see how much time has actually passed for us.

While watching BSG, we get the POV of the humans fighting for their lives, but in "The Plan," you get the Cylon POV, and it is quite interesting. Seeing things from their point of view, ironically, HUMANIZES them. All of them. They are not just random skinjobs. Rather, they end up being fuller people.

I liked seeing the inner conflict of Boomer and how that translates as not being successful in assassinating Adama.

Shelly Godfrey also shows an interesting side, one that I didn't think was even there.

Leoben - well, we KNOW about his obsession and I found it fascinating how it distracted him from doing his real job.

Simon - what can I say about Simon. I think Fleet Simon's fate was most disturbing. He fell in love and had a family with a human. Charged with exploding their ship, he chose extinction because he LOVED them too much.

Caprica Cavil - hanging with the C-Bucs made him change his mind about killing humans.

The fact that the cylons were NOT all united in their quest to eradicate the humans made "The Plan" a rather complex story.

One weakness in all this however is the distinct lack of Model 3, played by Lucy Lawless. Where was she in all this? Sure, they may not have been able to get her but it looks rather odd not to have ALL the cylons there.

There was also a very interesting take on having a new unknown character there. It enabled us to see events through HER eyes.

And yet, perhaps the best part of "The Plan" however, was LOTS of Trucco there. (What?! Yeah, I'm biased. Deal with it.)

It felt great to see Sam Anders in a more physical role once again. Sure, he was great in a tub, but action Sam is sooo much better.
As with the other cylons, in "The Plan" we see more character development of Anders. He no longer is just a jock, but a sensitive, thinking, even torn person.
Anders - running away cowardly? Who would have thought? But yes, that's in him.
Despite that, he works hard to bring his people together, fighting to do what's right and losing friends in the battles.

I think Trucco did an excellent job in bringing a soupçon of vulnerability in that role, playing Sam softer rather than just a hard-core jock. I really felt bad for Sam. He so needed a hug in many places.

All in all, "The Plan" is an excellent movie. GO buy it. I want to see more movies like it.

I also enjoyed the special features, especially Trucco's take on how Canadians do things differently. skep.gif

I'm not very eloquent either...

I did enjoy it but thought it was a bit choppy. For anyone that hadn't seen BSG they would've been completely lost.

I loved me some Anders and wish the whole movie was about him and the resistance. Although, I could not stand people calling him "T". Funny side note, my niece calls me that. I really, really, really wish we would have been able to see more scenes with Kara and Sam but that little sex scene had me giggling like a school girl. I kept picturing Katee and Trucco sitting in a sound booth making faux sex noises (although I doubt they actually did it).

Loved the special effects and seeing more of the destruction of the colonies and the music, as always, was perfect.

I agree with that. I think that it was made specifically for those who had watched BSG in its entirely. Otherwise, they would definitely get lost. I didn't get the choppiness but also that's because I do know that series quite well. I wonder what those who aren't real fans think about it. confused.gif

Yeah, the "T" was odd because afterward, you don't see/hear any of his teammates, i.e. Jean, call him that. Still, what does the "T" stand for. (Don't say "Trucco." Too easy. *snorts*)
Oddly enough that sex scene that was just noises scandalized me MORE than seeing them do the nasty. Go figure. I guess my imagination is just... more? *evil grin* Yeah, who DID those sounds, Trucco? tongue.gif

Word. I wonder if we'll get a new soundtrack.

Well, my mother thought it was depressing, and she didn't understand anything about the Cylons, except that the Five were supposed to be their parents. The goo tubs had her totally confused, and she kept asking things like "Are they twins? Or clones? Are the robots their slaves?" She did think the commentary on the Kara/Sam sex scene was funny, though.

The "T" stands for Toaster, according to our glorious leader. wink.gif

You were scandalized? You, Sarah? I was slightly disturbed by the voyeurism of it (Simon not so bad, but Cavil? Eyick) but other than that was not bothered.

Oh. Thanks. I didn't know that.

pfffffttt! Yes, I was. There's just something about the sounds that make it more... real. I mean, it's weird. Just hearing Kara in the throes of pleasure and then Sam joining in... oh gods, I think I'm actually blushing. tongue.gif (Cavil is just... wrong on so many levels)

Oh yes, my mom's reactions to everything are hilarious—she tends towards the shamelessly clueless. But since she didn't believe me when I said that if you knew the characters, there were actually a lot of fun and funny moments and even more in the actual series, she has no interest in watching any more.

That makes me giggle, Sarah, because I wouldn't have thought to actually compartmentalize the different aspects of those kinds of scenes. None of that shocks me, unless I'm watching with someone else.

Oh man, that is just awesome. I would LOVE to be a fly on the wall when you guys watch tv then, albeit a giggling fly. That's too bad that she doesn't want to see more but I can see it from her perspective.

grin.gif I don't THINK I actually compartmentalize them separately but when I'm reading stuff , I get the visual but I don't think I actually imagine the sounds as much. Hence, when I hear it on screen, I get rather shocked. Also, I think that when you have sex scenes on tv, they tend to have more music and less upfront sounds of lovemaking. I could be wrong.

Watching with someone else doesn't bother me at all. My extended family unfortunately is quite shameless and have no qualms about discussing sex at the dinner table. It leads to rather thick-skin around that topic. (Except I don't think SOUNDS come into play.) This is odd indeed. Especially if you know ME (like you do, Merry. tongue.gif )

I don't have a problem (I could totally watch things with you and the Troops without being bothered), but a lot of the people I hang around are pretty conservative, so...yeah.

Sorry Trucco for hijacking your movie's thread like this. blush.gif
