Looks like Chief is about to get into a car accident, and Lexie gets attacked. I think some quick shots could be from 6.03 noidea.gif. When Alex talks to Mer and Cris in the beginning I think I see Izzie's wig when he speaks.

Hehe... we got little time of Izzie ( in my opinion... maybe I was just waiting for a lot, i dont know lol ) but what we got was awesome! Katherine did such a great job!
The rest of the episodes just got me bored... I kinda liked Owen/Christina though...
I am really not liking Alex right now... Before I didn't care... now he is just uhhhh...

Some thoughts on the episode from me. I'm kinda still processing it and I'm not sure if I liked it or not. But I'll probably never be. It wasn't one f those episodes that that makes go al WOW! cause it's so amazing, it wasn't a total disaster either. It had its moments. I still think that one of the biggest problems in GA is the number of characters they have and they need to somehow fit all of them in 40 minutes and it kinda doesn't work. Again I had this feeling of things being rushed, especially with the moving so fast. This episode just didn't feel whole, just random scenes put together.

About Izzie, I expected more of her but as I sad too many characters too little time so... Katie did a great job as always but I'd prefer seeing her miss George not hear it in five sentences. Oh well. It also hit me again how Izzie shouldn't be my favorite character on this show. Watching how all of them react, Alex and Mer were the characters I could relate to and my reactions would probably be closest to theirs. Izzie is so different from me, from most of characters I like, probably from rl people I like. Maybe that's what fascinates me in her so much.

ok, so I have to add that my episode thoughts are very rarely actually about the episode lol.gif

and my favorite quote:
QUOTE
Alex: You died in my arms. You died in my arms! You freakin died, and then you left instructions that I wasn't allowed to save your life. You wanna know what I'm scared of? I'm scared of everything. I'm scared to move. I'm scared to breathe. I'm scared to touch you. I can't lose you. I won't survive. And that's your fault. You made me love you, you made me let you in. And then you freaking died in my arms.

I watched it, and I want my two hours back now please lol.gif For me it was the most boringness GA premiere I have ever watched shrug.gif. Unlike some people I know I actually enjoy watching the episodes that center around a character's death, such as Buffy's "The Body", Roswell"s "Cry Your Name", Smallville's "Vengence", and etc. Interesting enough this was something Grey's use to excell in (i.e. Denny, Ellis, Susan, and Papa O'Malley's death). This was the first time I thought Grey's failed because we seen the characters grieve before. We didn't need to see the five steps of grief because we seen it before on the show without the monologue telling us. It felt the grief needed to be more on remembering George.

I haven't felt that way about a Grey's episode since the PrP test pilot way back in S3. Normally I enjoy Krista Vernoff's episodes because I feel she is an exceptional writer, but this was the first time I thought her dialogue was downright cringeworthy. Only a few scenes I thought she nailed the emotions of grief which were Izzie's scenes, and Mama O'Malley talking to Owen about why George enlisted into the army. This next sentence by all means is not a bash, but IMO Katherine, Kevin McKidd, Debbie Monk, and sometimes Sara Ramierz I felt were the only ones not overacting. Even though Krista wrote the episodes I felt that rest of the cast's acting was just way way too over the top which just made it worst. The only times I felt anything was during Izzie and Mama O'Malley's scenes. Katherine did her grieving without going over the top and was quite natural just like Debbie Monk was. Normally I cry very easy, but this was the first death aftermath episode I didn't cry at all. Teary-eyed, but no crying.

Then you have Alex being Alex, and I'm sorry I'm completely fed up and it's like watching the same scenes over and over again. Much in the same fashion in how I feel when watching MerDer scenes. I don't know if the writers were intentionally trying to make Alex's speech to Izzie parallel to Izzie's "What About Me?" speech to Denny in S2, but it sure felt like deja vu and in the worst possible way due the writing and acting (sorry Justin). I understood what Alex was saying about being scared and Izzie shouldn't use feeding the beast as a distraction (even though what does that say about MerDer then tongue.gif), however; how his dialogue was written just didn't go over well for me and I was thankful to think Izzie grew out of that phase lol. However, I felt Chief is going to be the major butthead this season and looking at the CTV Promo for next week he just gets worst. I know it's the easiest way to make Grey's EP light, push the show into a new direction, and allow Katherine to film her movie and be with family (as a KH fan it's something I'm thankful for because I'm looking forward to her movies and I'm overjoyed about her new baby arrival), however; the way they brought the merger in was just lame. I just wasn't feeling it because the whole episode was just disjointed in a way that didn't mesh well. Showing the Mercy West set and employees you can just feel already the show is going into another direction this season. Business-wise I completely understand why they are doing this for longevity, however; for some veteran viewers it something that won't go over well. I'm glad the fans of Derek, Arizona, Callie, and Lexie will receive their wishes for their characters because as an Izzie fan I got my fan wish in so many ways last season. Which is why I'm not upset or anything like that. Just more the feeling my heart isn't in the show anymore.

This year I'm kinda going back to my gendre shows. Now I'm just not as hardcore with Grey's like I used to be. If Katherine wasn't part of the show anymore, then not watching Grey's period would be very easy to do. The whole two episodes I felt so unattached to the emotions of the characters except for Izzie and Mama O'Malley. Something was just plain off, and you can really get the sense what the first half of the season or the full season will be like. I'm honestly not that excited about next week's episode either. I am intrigued to see how Izzie tries to get back on her game despite her still taking chemo and her body might not be ready to take the full competitive surgerical road, but to watch a full hour of this Grey's Anatomy: The New Class my heart isn't in it. I'm a major fan of Katherine, there is no doubt, so I'll continue to watch but only her scenes on YouTube for now lol. In the end I'm looking forward to see her post-GA career, and might look forward to Grey's S7 (if Katherine is still with the show -- you know she will stay or go will pop-up again lol) if there is something to look forward to. Other than that I have no interest now of watching Grey's S6 live anymore. Which is always a hard thing to say when one was so attached to a show especially after IMO one of their best seasons.

Don't get me wrong the episode had it's great moments, but for me I need a mere few moments to enjoy a two full hours. I enjoyed Izzie's scenes (minus the last A/I trailer scene), Mama O'Malley, Owen, and Lexie/Mark/Callie subplot. Katherine did an excellent job, and she was one of very few actors that made me feel throughout the two hours. Sadly, here on out I'm YouTubing Izzie's scenes until something comes up that I want to watch live.

ITA nod.gif, it all just went by so fast and seemed really choppy (especially in the first epi). I even found myself looking at the clock more than once which is never a good sign. For me George's death wasn't honoured the way it should have been. I think in short it all just fell a bit flat. I really don't have any expectations for the rest of the season if the premiere is anything to go by, not to mention the Mercy West merger skep.gif. I think it's safe to say that the show is just going to continue in its downward spiral.

As per usual the best thing about both of the episodes was Katherine. Another stellar performance. She totally killed it.

Mel, i completely agree on what you just wrote. My heart's not been in it for quite sometime now, i don't really know when it happened but it's just been a continuous thing as the show has been slowly deteriorating from its prime in season 2. But like yourself, as a Katherine fan i continue to watch. There was a time when i used to get enjoyment out of the whole show but now it's just Katie's scenes sadsigh.gif.

I actually quite like the merger storyline and enjoyed the whole story with the Chief. The handling of George's death could have been a little better I agree - it did seem a little disjointed.

Katherine did a wonderful job though with Izzie's reaction - the scene when they wheeled her in to see George was wonderful. Another one of my favourite scenes was when she told the woman to get on with her life who was sitting on the bench outside the hospital. Loved that. It reminded me of her smackdown of Cristina several seasons ago.

I think it is too early to judge what the rest of the season will be like and change certainly isn't always a bad thing. That said, I might have a different view when the episodes come around that don't have Katherine in them. The show will seem very strange without Izzie Stevens.
