The Site
What is Media Blvd?
Media Blvd is an entertainment portal for fans containing news, topical discussion forums and exceptional websites.
Can I have my own site/message board hosted on Media Blvd?
If you would like to apply for free website hosting, please visit the Website Hosting page for more information. If you have an idea for a new message board you would like to see represented, you may register your interest at the Requests and Polls forum.
Registering
Registration is required if you plan to post new topics or reply to existing topics (depending on the particular forum you are using). Registration is free and you are not required to post your real name. You are required to post your actual email address, however. Upon registering an email will be sent to the email address you supply and you must follow the link it contains in order to validate your account and begin posting.
Lost Password
Retrieving your lost or forgotten password is simple. All of the pages that require you to identify yourself with your username and password carry an 'I forgot my password' link that you can use to have your password emailed instantly to your email address on record. Please make sure that your email address listed in your profile is kept up to date and that you can access it to recover your password.
Cookies
This bulletin board uses cookies to store the following information: the last time you logged in, your login identification, and your preferred "topic view". These cookies are stored on your browser. Cookies are not used to track your movement or perform any function other than to enhance your use of the message board. If your browser does not support cookies, or you have not enabled cookies on your browser, many of these timesaving features will not work properly and you will not be able to post new messages. If you ever experience login problems, you may have a problem with the cookies that have been set in your browser. If this happens, you can try clearing all cookies and logging onto your account again.
Moderators
Moderators control individual forums. They can edit, delete and move any posts/threads in their forums, as well as splitting topics that develop two different discussions. If you have a question about a particular forum, you should direct it to your forum moderator.
Your Profile
Changing Your Profile
You may easily change any information stored in your registration profile, using the 'Profile' link located near the top of each page. You must be logged in in order to update your profile.

Board Styles
Within your profile there are three different board styles from which you may choose: DesertStorm, SubSilver and CopperZone. These change only the appearance and layout of the boards and not the content.
Timezones
From your profile you may set the forum time to the timezone in which you live. All posts and private messages will be displayed with respect to this timezone. The forums do not take into consideration Daylight Savings Time, so if you find the times are out by one hour, you should adjust accordingly.
Signatures
You may use a signature (commonly used in email messages) on your posts. You may set your signature in your profile and once your signature has been stored, you can choose to automatically include it with all your posts by selecting the 'Always attach my signature' option in your profile. Alternatively, you can enable or disable your signature when creating each post. Signatures may be a maximum of 255 characters in length. You may not use HTML in your signature file, but you may use UBB Code. Please make sure that your signature line does not break the decorum of this site.

You may choose to use one of the avatars available in the 'Avatar Gallery' or you may upload a custom avatar, which must be no greater than 45 x 45 pixels and less than 6000 bytes in size. Posting
Posting Access
At the bottom of each forum you will find a list of the posting privileges you have on that particular forum.
Polls
The poll feature allows members to cast their vote in a variety of topics. To vote simply select the option you wish and click 'Submit Vote'. Alternatively, you may view the results without voting by clicking 'View Results'. Results are recorded cumulatively and you cannot see how each individual member voted. A poll can only be created by the topic starter and presently, with the exception of the General Chat and OT Discussion and Requests and Polls forums, only the board moderator(s) and directors can start them.
Smilies/Graemlins
Smilies are keyboard characters used to convey an emotion, such as a smile
Using UBB Code
You may use UBB Code in your posts. UBB Code is similar to HTML, but offers just a few basic functions, such as hyper linking, image display and font formatting. Complete details on UBB Code are listed here.
Attaching Files
For security reasons, you may not attach files to any posts. You may cut and paste text into your post, however, or use UBB Code to provide hyperlinks to outside documents.
Censoring Posts
The message board directors have the power to censor certain words that may be posted. This censoring is not an exact science, however, so certain words may be censored out of context. Please realize that the censoring, if any censoring is being performed, is being done by a computer based on the words that are being screened. Words that are censored are replaced with asterisks.
Editing Your Posts
You may edit your own posts at any time. Look for the edit icon on the post to be edited. No one else can edit your post, except for the forum moderator(s) or the message board directors. If your post has already been replied to then a note is generated at the bottom of each edited post displaying the number of times it has been edited. The poster that started a thread may also edit their thread title, by editing the first post in the thread.
Deleting Your Posts
You may delete your own posts if nobody has replied to it. Look for the small cross icon next to the edit button on the post to be deleted. No one else can delete your post, except for the forum moderator(s) or the message board directors, who can do so even after a reply has been posted.
Email Notification
When creating a thread or post you have the option to be notified when a reply is posted. Notifications will be sent to the email address listed in your profile. You may also select the option to 'watch a topic' using the link at the bottom of each thread; email notifications will be sent when new replies are posted. You may opt to stop watching a topic by returning to the thread and following the 'stop watching this topic' link.
Stickies
Stickies are threads that are held at the top of the forums to make them easier to see and access. Only the forum moderator(s) and the board directors have the ability to make a thread 'stick'.
Additional Features
Searching For Specific Posts
Using the search feature at the top of each page you may search for specific posts containing text that matches your criteria or that were written by a particular member. You may search all or one of the forums/categories.
Usergroups
Usergroups control which forums members may have access to. Registered users have access to all the public forums and only site staff will be granted application to the current usergroups in order to see the respective private forums.

Moderators: Members supervise the Mediablvd.com message boards.

Private Messages
A private message is not email. Private messages are one-to-one communications that can only be read by the recipient. You can read your private messages by clicking on the 'Messages' link located near the top of each page. Using your profile you may elect to be notified by email whenever someone sends you a private message and/or by a pop-up window. Only registered members may send private messages and once a private message has been sent it cannot be taken back. To send someone a private message, look for the private message icon on a post a person creates or within the private message section of your profile click on 'Post New' and enter the username of the person you wish to send a private message to. You can also send a private message through the person's member profile. Your private message box is split into 4 sections:
Inbox: All incoming messages arrive here.
Sentbox: Read outgoing messages are kept here.
Outbox: Unread outgoing messages are kept here.
Savebox: Incoming and outgoing messages can be moved here for storing.
Each box has a limited amount of space: 50 max posts in Inbox, 25 max posts in Sentbox and 50 max posts in Savebox. (Note: Outbox does not have a space limit because it is linked with Sentbox.) Once the space is full you may need to delete messages before you can send or receive any more.
Who's Online
A list of members currently browsing the forum(s) is displayed at the bottom of the Forum Index page and at the top of the individual forums. If you do not wish others to see that you are online, you may select the 'Hide your online status' option located in your profile. You will then be counted as a Hidden User.
