Winning song from the first poll: Oil & Water
banner by Polia
Thank you to Shobhna for starting the thread
Majandra's songs all have a deeper meaning, dweeling in deep, dark matters. According to you, what do you think a song or songs of hers mean? Also, is there a song you can relate to?
ETA: The actual poll, I forgot to post it before

Hi Shobhna, thank you for starting the thread but we have a music thread going where Majandra's lyrics are discussed. I'm going to close this for now since it's a duplicate thread but when we finish the current one I'll reopen it instead of starting a new one

. I'm going to repost your question on the other thread located here:

Thanks

Thanks for starting the new thread, Shobhna and Val.
Didi, I absolutely love your banner.
I love all of Mo's songs and her album is one of my most played. When I was going through some difficult stuff a year or so ago I found that her lyrics really helped me through it.

Betty, Mo sounds great and her songs are amazing. I will admit they aren't for everyone but if you like her style of music, you would love her music.

I haven't hear all of Le Prince Blue but I love the little bit I've heard, the lyrics are cool, although I don't understand the french part
My favorite lyric is bruises though, cause when I first heard it it was just in a moment where it was really, maybe not helpful, but it made me think. and made me see the right choices, somewhat.

Just saving this thread from hitting page two

. So you ladies who went to Paris, what can you tell us about Mo's new song "MAD"?

Oh I loved the new songs. MAD is just stuck with me but Not Over You is my fav so far. It sounded so great and I canīt wait to hear it again.

Not Over This is my favourite too, although I absolutely love I'm Mad. Mo described Not Over This as being "very dramatic" which I'd agree with. I can't wait to have those songs on CD.

Oh, since I heard I'm MAD and Not over this during the concert, I've been wondering what the lyrics are about. I totally can't understand lyrics when they're sung in English, so could you maybe tell what she speaks about in thoses 2 songs please? That'd be great

I could bet that she said not over you.
Well we have to ask Didi. She knows it.
BTW, itīs not really about Moīs music but I just wanted to say that you should keep an eye on MTV/MTV2 and/or VIVA/VIVA+ (if you live in Europe) because my brother told me that he saw Mo with Wilmer Valderrama in Cypress Hillīs new video *Whatīs Your Number*. I asked him if heīs sure that it was her and he said 110% sure.
I actually canīt imagine that it was Mo. I think that he either confused her wth Marieh or another actress because he already confused her once with Dominique Swain.
But the fact that Wilmer is in it makes me wonder if it might be Mo since they are friends.
Iīve looked everywhere to find the video but my computer wont work and I couldnīt watch them. I really want to know if itīs Mo.
Here are some links for the video. If anyone can watch it please let us know if itīs Mo.
If itīs not Iīm gonna kick my brotherīs ass.

He said that she was blond with curls and that she had something black on and was dancing around.
Didi
Mar 17 2004, 01:33 PM
I had seen the clip on MTV already and was now all shocked that I didn't notice Majandra in it, so I watched it twice again now and there is only one girl with curls and she is dancing and it's for sure not Majandra. So false alarm you can all calm down now

I would have been really really surprised since I think she said she wouldn't be in music clips, and only maybe if her favorite singer asked her and I guess Cypress Hill isn't that...
Oh, and Mo's song...or the name is 'Not Over This'

Thanks Didi. So I can kick my brotherīs sorry ass?! When he told me I also thought of the Q&A and how she said that she would only appear in a Björk video.
Also thanks about the song. I really thought that it was Not Over You because I remember thinking something when she said the title (canīt say it here but Didi might know what I thought because she thought the same)

I think Marica means the three additional songs besides the six from The Sicks like Karma (I think thats one of the ones Lisa mentioned) and yeah a lot of us have heard it at different places ut we've never really heard a clean version of the song without a lot of background noise. At least I think that's what Marica meant.

While I enjoy pretty much all of Majandra's music, Ski-Ming has always been one of my favorites. It was the first one to draw me in and show me how talented Majandra was as a song writer. I love how dark and seductive it is...I think smoky might be a good word for it.
Right now though, I'm on a Heaven Sent kick. I can really identify with that song at this point in my life.
Does anybody have the complete lyrics to Hermes Purse - there are a few parts I can't quite make out. I like the upbeat tongue in cheek humor in the song and the Johnny Cash reference to "a boy named Sue".

Actually Lisa posted that the songs won't be available on the website because The Sicks is going to be rereleased

and Majandra said she is hoping to have the second cd released this year. Lisa also posted that Majandra has signed with a new producer.
Also on the news thread has a link to RoBERT's site that has a interview with Mo and a clip of the video

I don't know if this belongs on this thread. If not, sorry!
I heard Sci-Fi Lullaby, Majandra's old producers, singing Behavior. Does anybody know if she wrote it, if they did, or if it was a group effort? I like the way they sing it and it's the complete 4 minute version, not the little exerpt we were teased with on Roswell. Here are the lyrics and where the track was recorded posted by the band.
This song was recorded while opening for Tori Amos and Alanis Morrissette in Phoenix. We played to 10K people. It was grand.
Lyrics
You're like an angel with the sweetest smile
But when you use it you're one evil child
But that's what brings me back again
We get along but only half the time
The other half you're just a friend of mine
And that's what brings me back again
I love you on your best behavior
I love you more when you are doing something wrong
But nothing's wrong with me
You said you liked it yesterday
Now you're telling me I can't stay (no way)
It's all your crazy f*cked up ways
That bring me back
And when you speak its such a lovely sound
Although your words they only put me down
And that's what brings me back again
I heard a rumor and I think it's true
You kill the people that get close to you
Let the reputation slip away, what do you say?
Oh baby doll...

Keri, I'm not 100% sure and I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I think Majandra's old producers wrote Behavior. Again, I'm not sure if it was written for her character or if it was a song they donated to the show for her character.

I think you guys are probably right. I was just listening to their CD this weekend, and it sounds more like something they would write. I just know how dedicated Majandra is about singing her own material, and thought I'd ask.

Keri, that is one of the things I admire about Majandra. She's not out just to be the next pop star. She could have done that a couple of years ago when she was signed to that label but she opted to exercise the clause in her contract to leave the label if they were going to change her music too much. It's nice that she is keeping her integrity and not being a sell out.
kashinn
Jul 30 2004, 02:46 AM
Val, That's also why I admire Majandra besides her natural talent.
You gotta love a girl with principles. The last thing the world needs is more "Britney Spears" clones.
