Kicking off the show, Vanessa Hudgens, fresh off her success as part of the High School Musical ensemble, got things started by showcasing her solo talents. After sets by JoJo, Bow Wow and Danity Kane, Nelly Furtado took the stage, with her special guest Timbaland, who is responsible for some of the biggest pop hits of 2006.
Blazing through hits from both her 2000 debut, Whoa, Nelly!, and her latest release, Loose, the recent Billboard Music Awards winner opted for a toned down version of her most famous single, “I’m Like A Bird,” during which the audience sang along. At the end of “Promiscuous Girl,” Furtado surprised the crowd by bringing out pop superstar Justin Timberlake, whom she joined for two more songs, before closing out her set.
Ending the evening was the hugely popular Mexican pop group RBD, who have sold over seven million copies of their albums. As fans screamed and sang along to every word, the three guys and three girls that make up the group energetically danced their way through a handful of numbers, before exiting the stage.
