+44 drummer Travis Barker performing at the KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas concerts held at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, Calif. on December 9-10, 2006. | This year’s annual KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas, taking place at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, Calif. on December 9th and 10th, had some of today’s strongest, most popular rock bands on a line-up that spanned two, sold-out nights.
With the Foo Fighters headlining both shows, the bands were comprised of hugely popular acts -- such as The Killers, AFI, My Chemical Romance, Incubus, Fall Out Boy, Papa Roach, Beck and Snow Patrol -- with relative newcomers, like She Wants Revenge, Wolfmother, Saosin and Panic! At The Disco. Also on the bill were artists that were bringing their new projects out for a spin, including The Raconteurs (featuring Jack White of The White Stripes), +44 (featuring Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker of Blink 182), Angels & Airwaves (featuring Blink 182's Tom DeLonge), Gnarls Barkley (featuring hip-hop soloist Cee-Lo Green), and 30 Seconds to Mars (featuring actor-turned-rocker Jared Leto). Perhaps the most unusual was the fact that Evanescence, with its female frontwoman Amy Lee, managed to make it onto the bill, as one of the few woman to ever make it to the KROQ Xmas stage.
