The annual two-night KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas concerts, held at the Gibson Amphitheatre on December 13th and 14th, brought together veteran acts, such as The Cure, The Offspring and Stone Temple Pilots, with current favorites, like The Killers and Paramore, and newer acts, such as Vampire Weekend.
An electric 4-song surprise performance from hip-hop superstar Kanye West, featuring a four-piece band and eight Japanese taiko drummers, all dressed in riot gear, was a highlight of Night #2, while gothic rockers AFI stole the show with a fiery set on Night #1. Rounding out the first night were such acts as Rise Against, Staind, Three Days Grace, Slightly Stoopid and Hollywood Undead, while Death Cab for Cutie, Franz Ferdinand, Snow Patrol and a solo Scott Weiland played on the second night.
