A who’s who of young Hollywood united with established superstars to celebrate movies at the 2008 MTV Movie Awards, held at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, Calif. on June 1^st. The night’s top honors of Best Movie went to Transformers, and Iron Man won the award for Best Summer Movie So Far. Best Male Performance went to Will Smith for I Am Legend while Ellen Page won Best Female Performance for Juno. Also taking home golden popcorn statuettes were Johnny Depp, for Best Comedic Performance (Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End) and Best Villain (Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street); Zac Efron, for Breakthrough Performance (Hairspray); Sean Faris & Cam Gigandet for Best Fight (Never Back Down) and Briana Evigan & Robert Hoffman for Best Kiss (Step Up 2 The Streets). Among skits from show host Mike Myers, including a surprise Wayne’s World tribute with special guest Dana Carvey, were memorable performances by Coldplay and the Pussycat Dolls.
