The Screen Actors Guild presented its coveted Actor statuette for the outstanding motion picture and primetime television performances of 2008 at the 15^th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, in a ceremony attended by film and television’s leading actors.

Held Sunday, January 25^th at the Shrine Exposition Center, and selected by the active Guild membership nationwide, Sean Penn (Milk), Meryl Streep (Doubt), Kate Winslet (The Reader) and the late Heath Ledger (The Dark Knight) won for performances in motion pictures and Hugh Laurie (House), Sally Field (Brothers & Sisters), Alec Balwin (30 Rock), Tina Fey (30 Rock), Paul Giamatti (John Adams) and Laura Linney (John Adams) took home trophies for performances in television. Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture went to Slumdog Millionaire, while the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in Television went to Mad Men for Drama Series and 30 Rock for Comedy Series. Awards for Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble went to The Dark Knight for Motion Picture and Heroes for Television Series.

Hollywood legend James Earl Jones was presented with the evening’s highest honor, the 45^th Annual Life Achievement Award.
