RyanBP One of the queens of Sci-Fi, Jeri Ryan, just finished shooting a new pilot for CBS, and will guest on the season finale of another currently popular series. On the surface this is a great chance to see a well loved and beautiful actress getting some work And it's about time! But the connections between Ryan, Roswell aliens, and Star Trek, as well as shows with Boston in their title, and a side connection to Battlestar Galactica, run deep.

Ryan, best known for her portrayal of the human Borg, Seven of Nine on Star Trek: Voyager, has been cast in CBS‘ drama pilot Shark, which stars James Woods as a celebrity attorney-turned-prosecutor. Ryan will portray Jessica, a district attorney and the new boss of Woods‘ character. The show's fate, along with more than 20 other potential CBS series will be decided in the network upfronts next month.

At about the same time that the fate of Shark will be decided, Ryan will also guest-star in the two-hour season finale of Boston Legal, Tuesday, May 16 (9:00-11:00pm, ET), on ABC. Ryan will play Courtney Rae -- the beautiful, sexy hostess of “The Phoenix”, a fictional reality television series. Courtney is charged with attempted murder after shooting a member of the paparazzi who was stalking her.

RyanDS Jeri Ryan became a series regular for the last seven episodes of NBC's short-lived series Dark Skies in 1997. She portrayed Juliet, a mysterious government agent from Russia, who fought hostile extraterrestrials who had landed in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947. The aliens who took over people’s bodies had been manipulating human destiny for decades.

After Dark Skies was cancelled, Ryan signed on to Star Trek: Voyager(UPN) in the series' third season playing the role of a Borg- an alien race who assimilated or took over humans (and other races) bodies. Actually she was a human assimilated by the Borg at an early age, and she boarded the starship for good after being cut off from the collective. This provided countless new storylines, as the rest of the crew helped her rediscover her humanity.

The Borg were pivotal in the final episode of the series, which was also tied tightly to the Borg-centric major motion picture, Star Trek: First Contact, written by Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica), who was later the co-executive producer on The WB/UPN alien series Roswell, along with Jason Katims.

RyanST Ryan’s acting range quickly earned her a second TV series role after Star Trek: Voyager ended. Joining the cast of Fox's high school drama Boston Public in its second season, Ryan played teacher Ronnie Cooke, a wealthy lawyer who becomes a high school teacher, until the show ended in 2004. UPN/WB Roswell Executive Producer, Jason Katims joined Boston Public in 2004 as a writer, after Roswell was cancelled.

So to summarize, Jeri Ryan, who has a new pilot, will also play a guest role on the season finale of Boston Legal. She previously played a recurring role on Boston Public, which was written by Roswell creator Jason Katims, and got the role after Star Trek: Voyager ended. On Voyager she played Seven of Nine, a human who had been assimilated by the alien Borg. Battlestar Galactica's Ron Moore was the author of the Borg based Star Trek Movie, First Contact, which created situations which were pivotal to the series finale of Voyager, in which Jeri’s Seven of Nine figured heavily.

Ron Moore also ran the WB's Roswell along with Jason Katims, and recently created another blond bombshell alien Sci-Fi goddess known as Number Six (of thirteen) on the currently popular Battlestar Galactica. Prior to Star Trek, Ryan played a government agent/alien hunter battling the Roswell aliens on Dark Skies. Is this all just a coincidence, or are the aliens already here?
